Dunno, I’ve have some good writing sprints while in a foul mood.

One time I got into a really fowl mood and wrote that Naruto turned into a chicken story. I tried. They stopped me, shook their heads, said “Write what you know.”

When I say, “The world would work better if women were in charge,” I mean just about anyone but me. Why? First fact: It’s “my job” to make sure that all the lights are off and doors are locked when we go to bed because my husband will zombie walk right past a door that is standing open. Second fact: we go to bed when the sun is still up and wake up after dark so customers of my husband’s store can panic-buy their milk, eggs, and bread at the crack of dawn. This means when I check the back door, I get blinded by sunlight through the kitchen window if I’m up too late. Well, a few minutes ago, I flipped the switch on my way out of the room, but the light only got brighter. I spent probably about a minute and a half squinting at the glowing boob-light, wondering what sort of black magic electrical fuckery I was in for now, and contemplating what a sledgehammer would do to the fugly glass shade. Then…it hit me, just like a sledgehammer. Y’all. I just tried to turn off the sun. With a light switch. And got pissy when flipping the switch just made the room brighter. So, yeah. Just about any woman except me. I would do my level best only to get knocked down by a barrage of blonde moments. I’d attempt to bring about real, needed legal, societal, and economic change. Instead, I’d get hung up on ridiculous things like declaring boob-lights and whining electric cords illegal and enacting laws decreeing that pets are taxable dependents and people can be considered pets if they’re not fully housebroken. The world would burn.

So… happy endings?

Fun fact: This is why there’s such a thing as freelance archaeologists. I think I had just recently seen a bit of the movie Nightbreed and was thinking of that one guy with tentacles that can pull out someone’s eyes. The original Scream is my all-time favorite horror movie—partly for that reason. Thank you! And thanks so much for the review.

That won’t work well for your writing. Or maybe you could write about happy things?

Ah shucks, that kinda thing might chip away at my deep seated self loathing!

I’m sorry it took me a few days to get to this, but I discovered that @GeorgeGlass left a review for Meaningful Gifts! Thank you! 😊 It took me longer than anticipated to write it, even just considering this year, but I’m glad the extra time paid off! Thanks again! This in particular means a lot to me because it was one of the main focuses during the writing process. I don’t want to repeat what I said responding to JayDee too much, but the thing that kind of made this story, at least when it formed in my head, was that it’s the story of a life together. Lexi and Drew are siblings who, partly due to an unpleasant childhood, have been developing into a couple over the course of many years, so all of those little moments of deepening intimacy between them were an integral part of the story for me, and I’m really glad that worked for you. 😄 Yeah, I was trying to sketch out differences over the siblings, and when I wrote in Lexi drinking coffee as the mandatory Folgers Christmas commercial reference, it felt like a perfect opportunity to describe her little brother finding it gross. I’m really happy I finally got to show it to you all. Thanks for the review!

You all are making me miss my IBM PC XT, with its blazing fast 8088 CPU, 64k of RAM, and that spanky 10MB hard drive. And talk about operating systems? MS-DOS, baby! (I blew up 2 XTs and an AT before they gave me a PS 2, guaranteed not to faint under pressure.)

I just… I mean, when everyone who sees it says the same thing about a commercial you just have to wonder how it ever made it past those focus testing audiences they ran in Alabam-oh right. Having to share beds was very common in poorer families for years, especially before central heating and that. It was just something people did. It only changes as their relationship does, which is neat! Partial nudity beating out full nudity once again! Those seven veils dancers knew their thing, no wonder you could lose your head over one. IBD over here trying to attract the attention of the valkyries a much less violent way Heh, been a while since I loaded anything but I can still very clearly remember how some issues seem to be utterly invisible until posted.
