Load times can and will vary from user to user, depending upon your system, your OS, if you have a malware infestation, and any number of things. If you read about what it is we're doing with both reworking the overall structure (that falls under the archive cleanup) of the categories overall, you'll understand that there IS something being done about it, and that it is a huge, huge project; and VERY time consuming. If you read in various places here in forum, you'll see that the code itself is being reworked entirely, but that it's being done in such a way as to not compromise the pre-existing data. That makes it an even longer task than just plugging "holes" and making patches will. You're talking about a rewrite from the ground UP of the code, which is old and several versions behind insofar as languages being written in. The search engine has also been talked about, and what will be done to make that better has been said. The current engine is not designed to handle a dataset that is more than around 500MB. The database is 7GB, currently, so the current engine gets overwhelmed. Having said that, what we're going to do about it won't be implemented for quite awhile yet, while the cleanup continues, and the reworking of the code is still going on. We're careful about what we put IN to the archive scripts as they currently are, so that it doesn't crash entirely. Again, due to several revisions between what it was written in, and what version PHP itself is up to now, as well as MySQL. Before I even get asked, we are going as fast as is possible. Please understand that the people doing these things are a small group. For my own part, as well as the clean up stuff, I'm also the lead moderator for both forum and archive. So....stretched a little THIN here, lol. As to review replies in your review table, refer to the size of the database itself. THAT is why we don't allow it. It's also why search/challenge/request posts were moved to the forum, as it is better able to handle it. Much smaller database, scripts are all current language. Your suggestion of a drop down or something with pairs, while a good one, is not possible at this time. I don't even know if it'll ever be done at this site, to be honest. Again, this goes back to the overall rework in progress, as not only is code being completely reworked and replaced, table structure is being changed as well. With table structures being changed in the database itself, you're looking at a whole DIFFERENT set of headaches for those of us doing this, as we have to be VERY careful that what is done doesn't compromise the existing data. One of the things I'm hoping we'll have implemented sooner than later, as it will not compromise the data, but will make the sorting much easier, is having more levels of posting categories to work with. Currently I have 3 category levels. Only TWO of them are posting levels. If what is being planned is implemented sooner than later, I'll have unlimited posting levels to work with. That will make the clean up and reorder part of all this much easier to do. Hope that all explains it

I have to say, looking at it, that yes, it was harsh. Yes, it was even a bit rude. However, it's not a trolling review. VERY harsh concrit is what it is.

I could look in to aliasing, but the mail server is for adult-fanfiction.org. If your spam filter is seeing it as spam, you need to unblock it, and tell your spam filter it is not.

You honestly have NO idea how busy I am. I get to this stuff as soon as I can. However, understand that I do have a life outside this site, work full time, and have a family. THEY come first.

Hey Velvet! Yours were very funny!

Invisionboard is still working out the bugs, enough to where I am not comfortable performing the upgrade to 3.x at this point in time. I'm HOPING that the next revision will fix the stuff which concerns me, so that I can do this upgrade.
-
Well then, it'll have to wait until I get to it. I have a TON of things I'm working on.

Did some further checking, apparently when it was broadcast in the US (Inspector Morse), it was called Inspector Morse Mysteries. Whereas, when it was ORIGINALLY broadcast in the UK, it was Inspector Morse. There is where the misunderstanding came in.

that's a possibility. I'll be sure to update the sheet we work from to note is as corrected, because you did indeed get it EXACTLY right.

Godzilla vs the Mushroom Kingdom

When I get to this part of the sort, sure. In the meantime, the author can always move it him or herself instead of waiting for me.

nope, not out of line at all, and much appreciated

no, only to avoid the reCaptcha requirement. THAT is in place to allow for guest posting in certain parts of the forum. Not all of the forum is guest accessible.
-
What it was asking for is reCaptcha data entry. By using reCaptcha, we ensure the user is not a bot, or spam generator so as not to flood the board with spam

Honestly, first thing you should do is see if you can't find some help from Legal Aid or something like that. Because there is no REASON for this to not be dealt with amicably by your neighbor, even though it appears he/she would rather not.

You have to understand two very important things. First, something very similar is ALREADY being done. Yes, it's slow going, but this archive is HUGE. If you look at the buffy subdomain, for example, you'll see exactly what's been done there, as it's finally almost finished Secondly, I only have 3 levels of categories to work with (top level, 2nd level and 3rd level). Only the 2nd and 3rd level categories are posting categories. So, in order to make it work within those limitations, I am limited in how many different ways I can go about sorting and reordering, and hence have certain criteria I follow for crossover sub categories involving 2 specific fandoms, as well as pair specific third level categories. In addition, there is a specific criteria set for creating new top level categories as well. So, what I'm NOT saying is that you have a bad thought here. Not at all. What I AM saying is that this, or something very like it is currently being done, subdomain by subdomain; and by a very few people. Hence the time it's taking.

As you are looking at your screen, located to the left is the "jump" menu. Select anime2 from that menu, and THEN the Gundam options will appear. The default is to start in the anime subdomain for all users, so unless you change to the correct subdomain, you will not see its category options. Hope that helps.

Review to correct a disclaimer that already is correct?
DemonGoddess replied to Tindog's topic in Disclaimer and other issues
Also, to clarify the hiding thing, when that is done, your story is still there, just not open for viewing until the correction has been made. Once the correction is made, it gets unhidden. One of us does check the hidden stuff regularly, so whether or not the user notifies us they have indeed complied, we still look and make the necessary adjustments and unhide upon finding the correction. DELETION doesn't happen unless/until the user decides that they're just not going to comply for whatever reason, and generally speaking the story in question has been sitting there, hidden, for up to 3 months. Granted, the FAQ says 30 days, and then it's deleted; but if one looks at time available for the person processing the deletions (me), it's no surprise that I run very far behind on that part. -
I'll have to check the permissions for the advertising module, because the other modules in the bug tracker do work. That's likely what the problem is. As you're the first to say something about it, this would be the first I've heard about it. Which part of that menu is not working (so we know what to fix)? Your advertising request will be sent along to the appropriate person, in the mean time.

As you've no doubt surmised, there was an outage of service. We've not been informed yet as to the nature of the problem which caused this outage, but I expect it will be along the same or similar lines as what happened before, meaning a hardware outage. We are very sorry for the inconvience.

I remember seeing SEVERAL stories like this, actually. At least three that I can remember that are 30 or more chapters.

You can use the password recovery from the archive, as you were registered with your current email. The archive will mail you your password. Another thing to remember, is that often, users use a different name for login from the pen name. If you can't remember your login name, or the password retrieval doesn't send it, let me know, and I will send that to you privately.
-
First of all, at some point, you did indeed register for the archive. You have an active author page link, and the email address used for both archive and forum are identical. It has been a long standing rule of this forum that registration REQUIRES that one has an archive login first. This link is checked (the entire reason for the two step validation) before final approval for forum use. Looking at your forum birthday information, the reason you're asking about registering again, is because you lost your login information perhaps? If you're wanting to simply change your pen name, you can do that from your author user panel in the archive. Duplicate (and more) registrations are actually not allowed. As we find them, we delete them.

In Misc Anime but want it in Bleach section
DemonGoddess replied to Farenkai's topic in Misplaced stories moved
There is no Bleach section in anime, unless you moved it to the admin use only category. In which case, you'll need to use the jump menu, navigate to the bleach subdirectory, and then add it there. Anything misplaced is routinely deleted.
