As recaptcha is used in both archive and forum, here is how you address the issue of the code box not displaying. First, check your browser settings. (Generally in Tools). Make sure that scripts are allowed. If it's not the browser, the second part to check would be your firewall. Be sure it is allowing the action from your browser.

Missing Author Page and Stories
DemonGoddess replied to Haywire_Hakaze's topic in Archive Tech Support
sure is, if you're using the same email now as you were then, I can simply look it up and change it. I'm guessing you're also using the same pen name? The other option would be for you to post to your current, and I'll still change it. Either way, so long as I can get the information for the field. -

heh. What makes this even sillier is I should've CAUGHT that. Anyway, fixed where it lives, and fixed the email address.

Archive profile So, here we go again with yet another "genius" who just HAS to take someone else's work. Someone else's PUBLISHED work. This one copied it verbatim, only changing character names. Original stuff And the theft...

yep, will be done later on.

Something we can certainly look at for the new programming, but not an option with the current, unfortunately.

A+ here, and my daughter just got a card from the travelling blood bank for more donations, so she's going to see if they're doing it for local only, or if we need to look up a Red Cross chapter as well.
-
American Red Cross There are so many ways we can help these people, whether it's time, blood, or a small donation.

jj, you got it exactly right. Subdomain names are what they are. However, what tells you what "lives" there, is actually the menu. For example, when the changes I've asked opinions on for comics and xmen sub domains are implemented, the subdomain names will remain the same, whereas, the MENU option itself will change to reflect it.
-
The menu in the archive clearly says "anime", and then "Gundam, Beyblade, DBZ, FMA". The subdomain is named anime2, where Gundam, Beyblade, DBZ, and FMA exist. Look at your browser bar, and you'll SEE the subdomain names.

Fandoms that do not work with other fandoms.
DemonGoddess replied to Solaris's topic in Writers' Corner
While moving stories around in the buffy subdomain (and I sorted crossovers as well), came across a BtVS/InuYasha one. Sorry, animated characters with real people just doesn't work. -
For now, until we get there to sort that mess, I could probably just change the fantasy top level to Fantasy/Science Fiction, and then subdivide it further once we get there for sorting and cataloging. Reason being that one of the reqs I set for something to exist at the top level, was that it must have at least 200 stories attached to it. Since we've not sorted it yet and seen whether or not the misc stuff has a bunch of sci-fi and other categories to get a count, I think you can see why I'd rather wait and do this as an alternative for now.

Need opinions before I get here for clean up
DemonGoddess replied to DemonGoddess's topic in General
Well yes, but as I said, this is very rough what I'm throwing at you. Once I GET there, is when I start looking at exactly how it can be put together without it making a worse mess than already exists. But, this is exactly what I asked for, because I do need to figure this out, LOL. So, the more input, the better, as then I'll start plotting it out in a way which'll work with the 3 levels of categories and the database itself. Of course, once I come up with something much more than a very rough draft, I'll put it up so we can all discuss it further, and refine it. THEN I can implement. Make sense? -

Well sure. And here's another thing. You have the various cartoon incarnations of DC and Marvel titles as well, which is why I was looking at this big of a change too. Say for example I did this... We'll work with xmen.. It would become "Marvel Verse" and from there, you'd have the titles, and etc, that are all Marvel Verse. Then going to comics... It becomes "DC Verse" and other stuff DC Verse being the top level, Cartoons alphanumeric listings the others. I'll work with the two most popular titles, and give you an idea of what I'm looking at. In a DC Verse top level in comics, you would have DC Verse>Batman>Movies DC Verse>Batman>Cartoons DC Verse>Batman>Comics Or, I could go...(all for top level) DC Verse Movies DC Verse Cartoons DC Verse Comics which would then be followed at the second level by Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, and etc or something very much like that. Third level would be pair types, of course, as is what I set as the standard format throughout the archive. The same would be in the xmen subdomain which would become "Marvel Verse" for ALL Marvel titles. But then again, I also have to look at my having only 3 category levels to work with as well. So it definitely needs more work, but I think you see what I'm after. I dunno, as I said, I'm still working this out. Now, since we're sorting in cartoons, I can probably get a feel for what I need to move around and such starting there. In any case, it gets complicated, because as you see it involves three separate subdomains. -
Jeez I need to check my math...had the wrong total with the first post, wrong count in some places too . Here we go with an update 899 total looked at to date Breakdown as follows Unable to find conclusive proof one way or another - 265 Returned (1 or more times) - 28 Confirmed as 18 or over - 209 Old minors (from before the current mod team) - 193 Minors deleted, now 18 and can return - 61 Over 18 users posting for minors -7 Confirmed and processed first time minor - 123 Pending minor - 1 Minor accounts taken over (4+ returns) -12

LOL, it's not a problem, glad I could help.

as it's in the same sub domain, there's no need for a merge. You simply edit the story, and change the placement. I've linked you to the FAQ which explains how to do it. So what you need to do here, is move the story within the sub domain to the correct spot, and delete the newer upload.

I've been kicking this around for months. What I've been seeing, and what I think needs addressed is the following: In movies, you have Marvelverse and DCverse type stories. I'm thinking that once I get to comics, I should make it DC Verse, and other comics. Xmen should become Marvel Verse. What I see with that, is that it helps for continuity. For example, you have Spiderman comics, and then movies, same for XMen. Batman, which is DC verse, also has comics, movies and some graphic novels. As I'm working in a specific sequence, this makes it so that as I get there, I have a better idea of what, exactly, my crew and I are up against.
-
Okay, it's all migrated. Have a topic in comics, that I'd like for you and any other writer you can get to, to look at, and give me an honest opinion please.
-
Not a problem, bed time for me, my eyes are bleeding from hunting minors, lol...
-
Sure, you can delete the new one if you want, saves me an extra step! I'll get this moved a bit later, still processing plagiarists that have been reported.

Archive profile I've only screened 3 examples, but that's plenty enough. WORD for WORD type story theft. First story...original by The Simi plagiarised copy by boolinder Another authored by The Simi plagiarised copy by boolinder And finally, the original story was by Disgruntled Minion and the plagiarised copy by boolinder
