What exactly are you searching for, and what is the search term you're using? I use the search engine all the time, and don't generally have issues with it, other than it only brings up the first 200 closest matches.
-
You must make sure there are NO three letter words in your search term. That goes for any db search engine. It's too broad a search term and locks the database. As a result, ANY database search function, regardless of program, requires the search term or terms to consist of four or more characters.
-
It's a straightforward boolean database search. The search terms are not difficult to use. The PROBLEM with it, is this kind of search will only get you a max result of 200 matches, and is really not designed to work with such a large database. However, this is something being addressed, but not at this time. The only search that would be global, is looking for an author, and can be executed from anywhere. All other searches need to be done in the subdomain where you'd expect the data to be at. For example, if looking for specific anime title type fiction, you'd be in the anime subdomain before typing in your search term. Then, you have to be certain to select title, or story summary from the search drop down, or it will search by author name. If you're inputting a title, that means you will get no result.
-
You can change subdomains any number of ways. You can go direct to the movies subdomain using the dropdown menu (at the top), for example. Which puts you in that subdomain. Then, when you're in your author panel, all the menu options for adding and etc are what's available in that subdomain. Using the jump menu (whether in your profile at the top of it, or in the side menu in the user panel), you select the subdomain and press go. I was unable to duplicate the error where by using the jump menu, it reverted back to the anime subdomain. At the main page, the site index; where you have side menus both right and left, you can select your subdomain there as well, and you'll end up in the subdomain you wish to publish in.

Crossovers top level in hp subdomain
-
It's understandable to be a bit confused by the set up at times. With things split across so many subdomains, and things in flux as stuff is moved around, it can definitely get that way.

Read the following FAQ as well. Allowable Html How to Edit Page Draw Errors You see, even using Word or Open Office to export your document to an html file, there are still extra tags that the programs will put in to it. So there is some additional editing that needs to be done. To clean up the html, you open that file in notepad, as it's a text editor. DELETE OUT the tags and extras which the archive doesn't allow. Also, be very sure that all your tags have an opening tag and a closing tag. If you have a tag which isn't properly closed, for example, it can make your chapter look like much of it has disappeared. What happens is that the interpreter sees the improperly closed tag, and sees it as an end of FILE. So, the data is still there, it just won't display. Until you find the tag and close it. To center a paragraph, you simply enclose the text with these tags: <center> <---the opening tag </center> <---the closing tag. The text you wish to be centered needs to be between the open and close tag, and then it'll be centered. What happens with a Word export, is that it makes division formats, which the archive doesn't allow, as it can't interpret it.

LOL ok, nope, it has no effect on the software usage.

The only way it affects your posting, is in that you don't know what you can or cannot do. So, the links are easy to get to, and you definitely should read them. This will help prevent you from doing something which could cause your work to be hidden or deleted; or your account being deleted. So sure, in that way, by not knowing; it could easily affect site usage for you. Terms of Service Posting Guidelines

The article with the quote that started it all Some...reactions ABC News article Boingboing.net The comments ALONE are worth the click
-
Just disappearing like that would strongly indicate the user who posted was a minor, and I deleted him or her. If you remember the author name, try that way for searching, and then look at their profile. If you can't find the author, then I did a minor deletion.

Should a user be told they need to provide proof of age, it would be because staff has good reason to believe that the person is underage. Should a user refuse to provide the proof of age when it is needed, they will not be allowed to remain on the site. Once the proof is provided, it's looked at, and then destroyed. Staff does not need to keep it on file, it's simply needed to verify actual age. Consider this a form of carding, if you will. Should a person go in to a store, and wish to purchase tobacco or alcohol, they must provide ID. If ID is not provided, they cannot purchase either item. The same goes for adult materials if one were to buy those as well. Just as with a store clerk, the ID simply needs to be seen and age information verified from it. We (staff) DO keep record of if/when such a thing is done, and whether or not the user actually provided the proof. Keeping a record of compliance makes it so that one is required to provide proof of age only one time. What we need is a clear copy of the photo ID, as well as a picture of you HOLDING your ID. Feel free to black out all information but birthday. Please email it to technicalsupport@adult-fanfiction.org

To fix the forum Firefox issue, I have another patch. Hopefully whatever Firefox does in their next update doesn't break this one too. If so, switch to the plain text editor.
-
If it's all over the site, and not localized to the forum, I somehow don't think it's the browser. Sounds like a possible connection issue.
-
Where is this happening, exactly? What browser are you using? If it's the forum, and you use Firefox, it's a known bug because of Firefox's latest update. IPS techs have yet to write a workaround for it.

Y'know, people can really be amazing in what they'll do sometimes.. You'd THINK that publishing someone else's work as your own would be something one wouldn't do. But noooooo, it happens entirely too often. This one did a verbatim copy. Only changed names Original story Plagiarized version As you can see, the user substituted the names Naruto and Sasuke for the original character names. A BIG thank you to the user who reported this!
-
First of all, let me start this one by saying that you do not use THIS site to flame another site, nor its members. Secondly, one should realize that often, most of those members just so happen to belong to THIS archive as well. So, by flaming them here for another site, you are flaming AFF members. So VERY not acceptable. You see that? That's what I mean. The majority of Dokuga's 18 and over users, are here as well. and then there is this review It was left in response to a DRABBLE. Mind you, the author SAID it was a drabble. Drabbles are short. and this one...while not a flame, she should've read what the author said, yes? The author clearly stated it was part of a thing where the story had to be 300 words OR LESS. the AN that started it all, and very nearly caused a flame war here AN in response to the email wherein she was instructed to remove the flame
-
no, skins are not selectable yet
-
Hey Wiccan, Am taking care of it now. Flames are not allowable nor tolerated.

the profile Yet another one. What's worse, is this one plagiarized by writing fan fiction in this author's world. Now THAT takes BIG brass balls. The original story, is "The Prince of Ebon Rih". The passage stolen was pages 182-183 To start out the story, this person changed the names of Lucivar and Marian to Lorn and Draca. Except they kinda FORGOT to do that later on. There's also the fact that this person made it a bit more explicit than the original publication. SOOOOO not the point here though. So here is the original..yes, there's only a very small portion included. That's all I really needed, if you look. And the plagiarized.. Betcha that there's other stuff this person plagiarized as well. Especially when one considers they've been here for a few years BIG thank you to the reporting member!

Nah, we don't do QC here. Good, bad, mediocre; as long as it's within guidelines for the site, it's allowed. I've actually seen (and deleted) some rather talented young people, but the point is, they were TOO young. Again pointing to quality, or lack of quality as a writer as not being an age indicator. It's really NOT.
-
No one ever supplied this site with your driver's license, nor would any of us ASK another site to do so. If and when (and yes, we have done this), we ask for age verification such as that, it is looked at to verify the birthday, and then deleted. We don't need to keep it on file once the age has been verified.

It's fine to repost. As to being told, those of you who've been here as underagers, can USUALLY expect complete account and content deletion. This holds true for the vast majority of them. Neither I, nor any other mod or admin are required to notify you of deletion, particularly where the deletion was caused by a ToS violation such as this one.
