Just disappearing like that would strongly indicate the user who posted was a minor, and I deleted him or her. If you remember the author name, try that way for searching, and then look at their profile. If you can't find the author, then I did a minor deletion.

Should a user be told they need to provide proof of age, it would be because staff has good reason to believe that the person is underage. Should a user refuse to provide the proof of age when it is needed, they will not be allowed to remain on the site. Once the proof is provided, it's looked at, and then destroyed. Staff does not need to keep it on file, it's simply needed to verify actual age. Consider this a form of carding, if you will. Should a person go in to a store, and wish to purchase tobacco or alcohol, they must provide ID. If ID is not provided, they cannot purchase either item. The same goes for adult materials if one were to buy those as well. Just as with a store clerk, the ID simply needs to be seen and age information verified from it. We (staff) DO keep record of if/when such a thing is done, and whether or not the user actually provided the proof. Keeping a record of compliance makes it so that one is required to provide proof of age only one time. What we need is a clear copy of the photo ID, as well as a picture of you HOLDING your ID. Feel free to black out all information but birthday. Please email it to technicalsupport@adult-fanfiction.org

To fix the forum Firefox issue, I have another patch. Hopefully whatever Firefox does in their next update doesn't break this one too. If so, switch to the plain text editor.
-
If it's all over the site, and not localized to the forum, I somehow don't think it's the browser. Sounds like a possible connection issue.
-
Where is this happening, exactly? What browser are you using? If it's the forum, and you use Firefox, it's a known bug because of Firefox's latest update. IPS techs have yet to write a workaround for it.

Y'know, people can really be amazing in what they'll do sometimes.. You'd THINK that publishing someone else's work as your own would be something one wouldn't do. But noooooo, it happens entirely too often. This one did a verbatim copy. Only changed names Original story Plagiarized version As you can see, the user substituted the names Naruto and Sasuke for the original character names. A BIG thank you to the user who reported this!

First of all, let me start this one by saying that you do not use THIS site to flame another site, nor its members. Secondly, one should realize that often, most of those members just so happen to belong to THIS archive as well. So, by flaming them here for another site, you are flaming AFF members. So VERY not acceptable. You see that? That's what I mean. The majority of Dokuga's 18 and over users, are here as well. and then there is this review It was left in response to a DRABBLE. Mind you, the author SAID it was a drabble. Drabbles are short. and this one...while not a flame, she should've read what the author said, yes? The author clearly stated it was part of a thing where the story had to be 300 words OR LESS. the AN that started it all, and very nearly caused a flame war here AN in response to the email wherein she was instructed to remove the flame

no, skins are not selectable yet

Hey Wiccan, Am taking care of it now. Flames are not allowable nor tolerated.

the profile Yet another one. What's worse, is this one plagiarized by writing fan fiction in this author's world. Now THAT takes BIG brass balls. The original story, is "The Prince of Ebon Rih". The passage stolen was pages 182-183 To start out the story, this person changed the names of Lucivar and Marian to Lorn and Draca. Except they kinda FORGOT to do that later on. There's also the fact that this person made it a bit more explicit than the original publication. SOOOOO not the point here though. So here is the original..yes, there's only a very small portion included. That's all I really needed, if you look. And the plagiarized.. Betcha that there's other stuff this person plagiarized as well. Especially when one considers they've been here for a few years BIG thank you to the reporting member!

Nah, we don't do QC here. Good, bad, mediocre; as long as it's within guidelines for the site, it's allowed. I've actually seen (and deleted) some rather talented young people, but the point is, they were TOO young. Again pointing to quality, or lack of quality as a writer as not being an age indicator. It's really NOT.
-
No one ever supplied this site with your driver's license, nor would any of us ASK another site to do so. If and when (and yes, we have done this), we ask for age verification such as that, it is looked at to verify the birthday, and then deleted. We don't need to keep it on file once the age has been verified.

It's fine to repost. As to being told, those of you who've been here as underagers, can USUALLY expect complete account and content deletion. This holds true for the vast majority of them. Neither I, nor any other mod or admin are required to notify you of deletion, particularly where the deletion was caused by a ToS violation such as this one.

Well, when you consider that the stories you mention were posted to the site BEFORE you turned 18, you must understand that you could have easily lost your entire account, rather than just your pre age 18 data. Further, considering your original registration date was in 2004, you do realize you had no business even USING this site for a number of years yet, right?
-
Okay, first of all, it's hidden, and if you're not in the right subdomain, you can't get to it. Secondly, excerpts from your stories are not allowed. It's a form of unauthorized advertising. As to why the stories are hidden at the moment, this allows you to decide if you want me to get all the review data for you before they get deleted. You can put links to your published stuff in your profile all day long. But, you can't do it in the manner you have been, where you leave up a teaser chapter or three, and then instructions to contact you for more.

yeah, it sure gets interesting from time to time... ...aaaannnnd, I figured out where I goofed on the last update. Wasn't the forum, it was me. Since I was just glancing over at the numbers, I put up number of posts, not topics. urk Y'know, I knew something was up when the averages weren't quite right..but now they're right where they should be.

*sighs* numbers changed a bit after resynching the forums.... through 4/10/10 Inconclusive results - 255 Current minors, have returned at least once - 34 Confirmed as over 18 - 253 OLD Minors (pre-existing before current mod staff) - 208 Deleted minors, now 18 and allowed back - 96 Users posting for minors - 9 Current minors, deleted once - 117 Pending age check - 3 Accounts taken over, still under 18 - 3 Over 18, accounts taken over, not allowed to return - 2 995 total checked

What happens when either Keith or I max out?
DemonGoddess replied to Animedevildog's topic in ipBattlePro
If you look, I kept the start point where you had it. I increased the end point for the break, so there'd be some overlap, and you guys would be more able to pick and choose. As I've not created the weapons with your names on 'em yet, I can easily put it where you'd suggested, and still have the end point where I have it. -

At this point, your disclaimer is your best protection. The thing is, this treaty is still very much in the works, and is not, in fact, in place yet. There are some organizations which are fighting against this, of course. EFF being a major one, of course. Currently, the intellectual property suits have been targeting more for video and music than anything. Copyright Watch is a good resource for finding what the most current copyright laws are, and they are working at making it a world wide repository of those laws as a resource, so that one knows what the laws are in different countries. Where this would affect any given site, is that where it is hosted, are the laws which are applied. Chilling Effects has a FAQ up regarding fanfiction specifically. I would expect if the treaty every did get signed in to law, and fanfiction archives were to be targeted, it could cause us a host of problems. But that's speculative at BEST right now. Until this thing is hammered out and passed, we have no way of knowing how it will affect this site, the users, or anything. Nor do we have any real well to tell what, if any, courses of action will be available. All any of us can do at this point is wait and see what exactly they come up with for the final treaty, and which countries end up signing it in to law.

Can I have more than one archive membership?
DemonGoddess posted a topic in Conduct FAQ's (Can I...)
Short answer - NO As with anything, there are some exceptions to this. Generally speaking, those are the published authors we have here, who wish to experiment and DON'T want that associated with their normal writing. That is the most common exception. Should you feel the need to have more than one login, you need to contact an admin or moderator, explain your reasons why, and then you'll be told yes or no. Some common occurrences of multiple memberships - I can't access my account In this for instance, don't create a new account, CONTACT someone. Once you can show you do belong to the account in question, your login information will be provided to you. I wanted to separate certain characters within my stories, with a new profile These are subject to immediate deletion. As often, there is double uploading as well. Aside from that, it's not a sufficient reason to create another login. I am writing with someone else and we both need access to the account This is generally allowed. However, you DO need to inform the moderator team of this, so you're not accidentally deleted as a duplicate. -

In the drop down menu bar across the top, select Author Panel. This is your user control panel, or user cp. While in your cp, select the subdomain you wish to publish TO, using the drop down menu located to the left as you look at your screen. Click go. Then, you click Add Story. Once you do this, you'll see a drop down list for category, and then subcategory (once the category itself is chosen). Follow the prompts from there.
