No way to block the user for you, however, if the user has a login, I may be able to do something anyway. You're absolutely right, there is a REASON we have people report abuse. I'll see what I can do on this end.

Oh hell, I am so sorry to hear that Marian. Invest in a key drive, they're super cheap these days.

It's more likely that the one is NOT plagiarism, but a minor trying to make it appear that they are not underage. So, I will look at that duplicate user set with that in mind first. It's a pretty common occurrence, that an underager will come in, put a blurb in profile to lead people to believe at a glance that they are, in fact, over 18. Then, they come back when they're REALLY over 18, and start re-posting while ignoring the original profile. Of the duplicate (or more) memberships I've handled over the last 2 1/2 years, I'd say 80%+ of them are exactly what I just described. It's a real mess. The second looks like an accidental double post, which I'll merge the reviews and rates in to one story, and delete the duplicate.

Twisteddarkness, Is your story based on the manga or anime arc? If it's manga based, then I'll create it in that subdirectory.

Where has Nightmare on Elm st: beautiful nightmare gone?
DemonGoddess replied to Razielum's topic in Movies
The author was emailed to properly cite the songs used in the story, has not done so, and the story is hidden until that is fixed. -
Well, if they don't respond, the worst that happens is they get deleted entirely. Kind of depends, really. Initially, such a story is hidden while we wait for user response for permission being had to do this from the original author. They provide that permission, I leave the story alone. They don't, it's deleted. If I find they're doing this to post for a friend or something who's underage, THEY are deleted.

hahaha...it's a nightmare, but I'll live

Current, deleted one time only - 113 Current, accounts taken over - 5 Current, returned (deleted 3 or less times) - 38 Old minors (currently 18+, registered 2 or more years ago) - 220 Minors that were deleted and are now 18 - 116 Users where we were unable to confirm age - 267 Users confirmed as 18+ at registration - 285 Users who posted for minors - 9 That brings the total to 1053 looked at and either processed or confirmed as of age.

Thought I'd let you know since you have one already, I created an Iron Man subcategory. You can find that here.
-
Okay, that's done. Thanks again for the reminder AND the catch.
-
Yes, but if memory serves that was actually Marvel comics fanfic in the subcategory. I have to look again, of course, and forgot that I had to. Now, if it's actual DC based stuff, that's a simple fix, I delete from xmen subdomain, and move it to the DC top level in comics. Thanks for the reminder.
-
It will work as follow- The pre-existing setup and data will remain. In addition, Marvel 'Verse stuff will be added to this subdomain. Initial reworking is as follows- Avengers Black Widow Excalibur Fantastic Four New Mutants Punisher She Hulk Spiderman Ultimate Avengers X-Factor It would be very helpful to me, if the authors could possibly re-add to the new schema. As soon as that's done, email/pm me with link to the story, and I will move over the reviews and ratings from the comics/cartoons/movies/tv subdomains. It's time consuming, so I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Need opinions before I get here for clean up
DemonGoddess replied to DemonGoddess's topic in General
What I've done (so far) is set up DC 'Verse as a top level, and it will include comics, cartoons, movies, tv series. There is often crossover between different story arcs within the fiction, so this makes the most sense. The subcategories moved within the comics subdomain to the new top level are: Batman Birds of Prey Green Arrow Justice League Superman Teen Titans Titans V for Vendetta Vigilante Watchmen Wonder Woman On to xmen now.. -

and...gone again

Read this and this will tell you where to put it. I'll be getting the basic categories and subcategories for both Marvel and DC set up this weekend.

Challenges are not done in the archive at ALL for posting. Those are posted in the forum.

and they're gone...

Keep your political BS out of my fiction, thanks.
DemonGoddess replied to Xenobia's topic in Personal Rants & Journals
Unfortunately the review is no longer there. However, I can still look up the user's review history on other authors, and see if she's done this to anyone else as well. Aside from that, no, the review board is absolutely no place for political BS. Or personal BS, or anything else not related to what the author posted. My apologies to you, for having been subjected to that. -
I took this one step further, as these all went back to the same deleted user, and searched the database for any OTHER data left behind when the deletion was not processed correctly in the first place.

toasted
-
Sure I can. It'll simply link to the content guidelines in the archive. In answer to your question, previews, placeholders, that sort of thing; are NOT allowed. AT ALL.
-
As I don't make categories out of hand, and they have to be requested, anyone can do that, ya know. That way, if the req is there, I won't forget to do it. We do have some rules about how to, and that's all the suggestions forum for the archive, as a pinned topic.

looking for a glorfindel/erestor story
DemonGoddess replied to WolfPyralis's topic in Lord of the Rings
I've READ this one, and can't for the life of me remember either author or title. So, I asked someone else who might be able to point you in the right direction. -
This applies where a user takes a snippet of a chapter, for example, and quotes it. Or, where a user uses song lyrics as part of the story itself. The original author still has to be credited, but this is done differently and SEPARATELY from the disclaimer, within the story chapter. Example of an inline citation (this is a paragraph quote). An inline citation is what would commonly be used for this, and song lyrics. Should an author use extensive source quotes, in that for instance, it would be FOOTNOTED at the end of the chapter. With a symbol following the quotation, and the same symbol with the source listed at the bottom of the page. ---- Formats that would be acceptable, for example (which aren't "by the book" citations): blurb of text from book/tv show/movie* another blurb of text/dialogue from book/tv show/movie* AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER *Some dialogue taken from (name the book/tv show's episode title/movie title
