That's actually untrue. The user in question was asked to please remove the content from her site, by not only the members affected, but by some of the staff members as well. She did, in fact, do that. However, it was and is still plagiarism, which is why this user was deleted. What happened, ultimately, is that yugithecutie was deleted from the archive. She is NOT welcome to return. Ever. Thing is, we do not have ANY control over what a web hosting service allows on their servers. We (a couple of the mods) advised the one member to REPORT this person to her hosting company, as that's the best that can be done from this end for someone else's domain. No one here has any control whatsoever over what content is or is not allowed on someone else's web server. To expect that we could, or in fact would be able to do anything about it, is foolish, at best. After all, it's not like this site owns yahoo.com, which is (or was when this happened) yugithecutie's hosting company. It would be best to put up all sides in future, yes?

Thanks, and yes that makes much more sense now, to have a filtering option. I'll see what the other gal has to say about it.

Could you go in to a bit more detail as to what exactly you're wanting the program to do? Give examples, that would be helpful. As to the search, if I'm remembering how the engine that will be implemented (eventually) works, that should be a possibility, yes. Again, examples of HOW your friend would like to perform a search would be helpful.

I've held off on this long enough. The modifications that I'd like to keep current, they're still rewriting, it's looking like months before release on them. So, hopefully they will still work afterwards. As there's not much difference in the language versions (from 4 to 5 on php, mysql was already written for 5.x), I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Because this is a major update, expect the board to be down for at least 3 hours while I do it. I will make a date/time announcement at least a week beforehand. I expect to get this done sometime in the next three weeks.

Finalized general structure for the subdomain
DemonGoddess replied to DemonGoddess's topic in General
finished the slash sort, all that remains is to sort the three+ subcategory. Here are the new subcategories (with stories already having been moved to them) -Buffy the Vampire Slayer – top level in Het - Angel(us)/Drusilla Buffy/Oz Willow/Xander in Slash - Andrew/Spike Andrew/Xander Andrew/Warren Ethan/Giles Buffy/Oz Giles/Spike Giles/Wesley Oz/Xander in FemmeSlash - Buffy/Dawn Cordelia/Faith in Threesomes/Moresomes - Angel/Spike/Xander -BtVS AU/AR – top level in Het - Faith/Xander Willow/Xander in Slash - Angel/Spike Angel/Xander in FemmeSlash - Dawn/Faith Tara/Willow in Threesomes/Moresomes - Angel/Spike/Xander -BtVS Crossovers – top level no new additions at this time -AtS/BtVS Crossovers – top level in Het - Connor/Dawn in Slash - Angel/Spike Angel/Xander Spike/Xander in FemmeSlash - no new additions at this time in Threesomes/Moresomes - Angel/Spike/Xander -Angel the Series – top level in Het - no new additions at this time in Slash - Angel/Spike in FemmeSlash - no new additions at this time in Threesomes/Moresomes - no new additions at this time Angel the Series stories, in the tv subdomain are currently being sorted for movement to this subdomain. Once that's done, the structure in that subdomain will mirror this one as much as I can manage, to facilitate the story move without losing data. Thanks again, for your continued patience as we work this repair. -
After re-evaluating some things, we've decided to lower the required number of stories for pair specific sub sub categories from ten, to 5. Almost done with buffy, finally.

the clean up forums are not the place for this kind of post. put 'em in tech support, if you post them here in future.

Here is what it says... -- I do not own any of the characters from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX nor do I make any money from this/these stories/chapters. This is what needs to be there --- I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! GX nor do I make any money from this/these stories/chapters. -- You make that change, I can get it unhidden for you as soon as you tell me it's done.

What Grief Teaches D'Yer Ma'ker Story displays no data, but db shows the chapter. Need to look and find where the text emote, or html goof is.

Something you should all keep in mind, is if a story suddenly up and disappears from the archive, chances are very great that it's because we found a minor author and deleted their content.
-
Here is what we've done over the past year. Total members looked in to as possible minors - 732 How it breaks down Confirmed minors, who've been deleted, but are now 18 and allowed to return - 32 4 or more time returned minors whose profile have either been taken over, or will be taken over - 12 Confirmed as adults at the time of registration - 202 inconclusive results - 187 Old minors (minors who were here from before the current moderation team, most are now adults) - 177 Minors, first time reported and processed - 122
-
There seems to be a misunderstanding among many of you. Thinking that ONLY adult content is wanted here. That is not the case at all. Fiction of all "ratings", with or without adult content are welcome here. While the archive certainly has a great deal of adult content, the ADULT in the site name is geared towards the fact that users are to be 18 or older, and that this is a group of ADULTS who come here to write, interact with each other, and etc. A suggestion for you authors, should your stories be "fluffy", contain no NC-17 type stuff, or whatever, you should make a note of it, so the readers who are looking at your summaries understand that. With the current reworking of the archive, I will suggest that some additional tags be added for this kind of story. Finally, if you, the author, are FLAMED because someone thinks you must have adult content, because you are on this site, please DO report it.

Links in your recommended reading list
DemonGoddess replied to paradox13's topic in Archive Tech Support
Read this FAQ. It has instructions for how to use the recommended reading list function to where you will have clickable links. -
Yes there is, and I will do it.

Load times can and will vary from user to user, depending upon your system, your OS, if you have a malware infestation, and any number of things. If you read about what it is we're doing with both reworking the overall structure (that falls under the archive cleanup) of the categories overall, you'll understand that there IS something being done about it, and that it is a huge, huge project; and VERY time consuming. If you read in various places here in forum, you'll see that the code itself is being reworked entirely, but that it's being done in such a way as to not compromise the pre-existing data. That makes it an even longer task than just plugging "holes" and making patches will. You're talking about a rewrite from the ground UP of the code, which is old and several versions behind insofar as languages being written in. The search engine has also been talked about, and what will be done to make that better has been said. The current engine is not designed to handle a dataset that is more than around 500MB. The database is 7GB, currently, so the current engine gets overwhelmed. Having said that, what we're going to do about it won't be implemented for quite awhile yet, while the cleanup continues, and the reworking of the code is still going on. We're careful about what we put IN to the archive scripts as they currently are, so that it doesn't crash entirely. Again, due to several revisions between what it was written in, and what version PHP itself is up to now, as well as MySQL. Before I even get asked, we are going as fast as is possible. Please understand that the people doing these things are a small group. For my own part, as well as the clean up stuff, I'm also the lead moderator for both forum and archive. So....stretched a little THIN here, lol. As to review replies in your review table, refer to the size of the database itself. THAT is why we don't allow it. It's also why search/challenge/request posts were moved to the forum, as it is better able to handle it. Much smaller database, scripts are all current language. Your suggestion of a drop down or something with pairs, while a good one, is not possible at this time. I don't even know if it'll ever be done at this site, to be honest. Again, this goes back to the overall rework in progress, as not only is code being completely reworked and replaced, table structure is being changed as well. With table structures being changed in the database itself, you're looking at a whole DIFFERENT set of headaches for those of us doing this, as we have to be VERY careful that what is done doesn't compromise the existing data. One of the things I'm hoping we'll have implemented sooner than later, as it will not compromise the data, but will make the sorting much easier, is having more levels of posting categories to work with. Currently I have 3 category levels. Only TWO of them are posting levels. If what is being planned is implemented sooner than later, I'll have unlimited posting levels to work with. That will make the clean up and reorder part of all this much easier to do. Hope that all explains it

I have to say, looking at it, that yes, it was harsh. Yes, it was even a bit rude. However, it's not a trolling review. VERY harsh concrit is what it is.

I could look in to aliasing, but the mail server is for adult-fanfiction.org. If your spam filter is seeing it as spam, you need to unblock it, and tell your spam filter it is not.

You honestly have NO idea how busy I am. I get to this stuff as soon as I can. However, understand that I do have a life outside this site, work full time, and have a family. THEY come first.

Hey Velvet! Yours were very funny!

Invisionboard is still working out the bugs, enough to where I am not comfortable performing the upgrade to 3.x at this point in time. I'm HOPING that the next revision will fix the stuff which concerns me, so that I can do this upgrade.

Well then, it'll have to wait until I get to it. I have a TON of things I'm working on.
