  1. Did a quick search based on the last poster's info... This it?
  2. It's certainly worth looking at. Often though, when someone "adopts" a story, it's been abandoned and they have permission. However, we still do look in to things like this and make sure that the person who took it over DID have permission from the person who originally started the work.
  3. nuked 'em
  4. Not only has this plagiarist returned for the THIRD time, but he/she actually plagiarised, of all things, the Lord of the Rings screenplay. Before that, it was an author who goes by aimlessflame, who's story had been published in 2003. Not only did this person steal that author's work, but posted in all over the archive, in multiple subdomains. So, here is the latest of their wonderful "original" (NOT) work Transcript of LotR screenplay Story that was posted here in Naruto subdomain Uhhhhhh....did this user HONESTLY think that no one would catch this, especially with the direct copy of Aragorn's verses???
  5. We'll look in to the user problem for you, but in the meantime, navigate to the originals subdomain via the top menu, and then go in to your user panel. You'll then be able to access it ANYWAY. As long as you browser address bar says "http://original.adult-fanfiction.org/" or whichever subdomain you want to be working in, you can access all your data within that subdomain. If you're IN the subdomain, and still cannot access the story, give me a link to it, and I'll have a look and see why you're unable to get in to it.
  6. You've obviously not read what you're being asked to do to make your story compliant with site requirements. If you do that, and fix it accordingly, then the stuff is unhidden, if it's been hidden. If you don't, it remains hidden, until we get to the last phase for it, in which case the user gets an email and we give a final attempt to help you get it to where it needs to be before it's deleted. Unless you're a kiddie and don't belong here, we'd really rather NOT delete your work out of hand, which is WHY we use the hide function. This HAS to be done for each and every story. There is a field that you should be using to do this. The latest one which you were sent something on, is a crossover. Rules for that are specific, in that you must disclaim all worlds involved. Also, as it involves a real person/celebrity, rules for disclaiming ABOUT real people are not only specific, there is absolutely no wiggle room on them. Real people are of course their OWN intellectual property, so if a user is not careful, and the person in question wants to, not only can he/she go after the site for your fiction, he/she can go after YOU. So in that particular for instance, you would not only disclaim the fandom, say you make no money, but it would have to state that it's a work a fiction, and you don't know the person involved. I just checked my working document, and the other stories you're talking about, it looks like you deleted them rather than fix what is needed. Of course, it's always the user's choice to not abide by the very few rules this site has. When that happens, WE (the mods) then handle things accordingly, to enforce the site terms of service, which EVERY user agrees to abide by when they create a login to this site in the FIRST place.
  7. This applies primarily to old, undiscovered minors who are now adults. Rather than deleting your account entirely, what is done, is all of your pre age 18 content is deleted. That is to protect the site, as you were NOT supposed to be here before your 18th birthday in the FIRST place. There are no exceptions to this, and it is done without warning or notification. The other common deletion that is done on a near daily basis, is the deletion of "unfics". i.e. searches, lists, challenges, requests, and any OTHER type of document which does not belong in the archive. This is also done without notice or warning of any kind. Finally, if one adds a story to the wrong subdomain entirely, it is deleted. What I mean by that, is if you add something, for example, that is original fiction, to the anime subdomain, it will be deleted. Or something that belongs in books, or any other subdomain OTHER than the one which it was added TO.
  8. You are underage You have been proven to be a troll You have been proven to be a plagiarist You are a proven spammer Invalid email address provided in the archive (this would happen AFTER the profile takeover, and a fair bit later at that) You have started a flame war and continued, despite email sent asking for you to stop. The above are the most COMMON reasons for the user to be deleted.
  9. The most common reason would be an incorrect disclaimer. Once the disclaimer is corrected, the story is then unhidden. The hidden stories are checked AT THE LEAST every few days for correction in this for instance. Some less common reasons for a story to be hidden: The user has provided an invalid email address for the archive. In this for instance, as we have no way to contact the user, the profile is taken over, with a date as to final deletion IF the user does not contact one of the mods with a working email address. The user is posting a story to cause a flame war, or flame baiting with a story (which is an unfic as well). While the matter is being resolved, not only will the story be hidden, if it's of this nature, it will be deleted. The user has AN chapters, self reviews, review demands. These are handled in a manner near identical to undisclaimed/incorrectly disclaimed stories.
  10. On to the stories.... Story the first Please note the original publication date. 1996 Stolen version Verbatim copy. Story the second Original story Stolen version Again, notice it is indeed word for word, like the first one Finally, the last one that this "ahem" person posted Original story Stolen version Again, verbatim copy I'm sure I'm belaboring the obvious here, but...whoever you REALLY are Caliban, you are not welcome here. Not ever. WHAT were you thinking?? That, perhaps, someone wouldn't notice where you got the stories from? Thank you, once again, to the sharp eyed members who found this and sent it on to us to be handled.
  11. Got a couple mails for TOS team about this person. Which is how this was found so quickly. Thank you both for your swift action in protecting the original author from this person. You know, plagiarism in and of itself is reprehensible. But to steal from someone who passed away two years ago?? Just how LOW can people go? I'm going to make a couple posts to this topic, as I have quite a few screens.... First, let's get in to the identity theft portion.. The original author, at a different archive Here is the thief's profile (he/she had modified after being reported from Caliban to the original author's pen name) Here is this cretin's profile AFTER I did a bit of db record modification (restored the original pen name)
  12. LMAO...thought you would've noticed the extra options.....
  13. This one is so clear cut, it's not funny. First, have a look at the plagiarist profile Notice the upload/add dates Then, here are the profiles of the authors this person stole FROM Then, the plagiarism itself. Notice it is copied, verbatim, in BOTH instances First story original work plagiarised work Second story original work plagiarised work
  14. Make a note in the disclaimer FIELD giving the location of the disclaimer itself so we know where to look for it. This is something we've told others before, where the disclaimer the user chooses to use exceeds 240 characters (which is the field size), so it's not an unexpected thing for such a statement to be in the field itself pointing to the locatiion of it.
  15. This user decided it would be "fun" to create a login, so that he/she could randomly review people (with the same review). TWENTY+ times....20 users at least. Anyway.... Needless to say, this user is not welcome here. Our authors work HARD to do what they do. They don't need harassed by...whatever this thing is.
  16. LOL no prob, I will add that to the update list..
  17. Duly noted, will be done with next update, hopefully.
  18. First and most importantly, the archive itself (being very old software) doesn't even have the CAPABILITY of having true links, simply copy/paste links. Secondly, the primary reason for disallowing outside links isn't because of people like you, where you have something stored elsewhere in a format that is different, but for where people are wanting to redirect to where one has to purchase the rest of the story, for example. THAT is what the banners are for. Aside from that, there are also (and yes I've run across these too) instances where one will see a user make an outside link to something which is a fanwork, where they make money off the fanwork, generally speaking WITHOUT the original creator's permission; which is something we cannot support here. Things like THAT get fansites and archives like this downed in a hurry.
  19. Your stories weren't proper stories, but links to another site where the stories are. We do this routinely.
  20. hang tight, this one will be deleted after some documentation. There are other issues with this user.
  21. Really, if you look very hard at this, the entire reason for prosecution, I'd bet, was the fact that it was fanfiction based on real people.
  22. yep Author is Raihne Story is Anything for You The sequel is I'd Still Do Anything for You
  23. deleted dupe
  24. Doesn't matter if she understands it or not. She'll be ...errrm.. educated about it anyway. Just not today. As I said, I was actually doing all this by myself for a few weeks, so we are horribly, horribly backlogged at the moment.
  25. yeah, he posted in some other subdomains too. Got ALL of 'em
