  1. Fan writers would also want to nail down the terms of the publication beforehand. When I heard about the possibility of DC Comics' properties becoming open for fan writing, I thought, "Hey, I could do that Wonder Woman TV pilot I've been thinking about as a novel instead!" (It would be ever so apropos if Amazon published a Wonder Woman novel.) Then I realized that if I wrote the thing before making some sort of contract with the publisher first, they could basically offer me any crummy terms they want, because there would be nowhere else I could publish it. Such would be the case for any writer who created something based on a property with a single owner.
  2. Usually, if I start a story and the spelling and grammar are really bad, I just quit reading it. I just can't stand reading stories like that--the language distracts too much from the story--and anything I could say in the way of concrit isn't going to make much of a dent, anyway. So any spelling or grammar problems I point out in a review are likely to be minor. I generally spend more of the review talking about what I liked about the story, because if there weren't enough things that I liked, I wouldn't have read through to the end.
  3. Are there any such sites that do? Hentai Foundry QCs images but not written material.
  4. And so continues the epic struggle between quality and content. Nobody cares how awesome your fanfic is if they're not interested in your fandom. That's fine, but unfortunately, the inverse (or whatever the right word is) is also true. A month or so ago I Googled "fanpoodle" because I thought maybe it was part of general fanfic lingo; I didn't know it was actually created here, by you. Maybe this site needs a glossary.
  5. Back when I wrote non-erotic fanfic in a very popular fandom, there were several other authors (all met through FFN, where we reviewed each other's stuff) for whom I betaed and who betaed for me. Now, though, I'm writing erotic PHINEAS AND FERB stories, and other authors who do that (and do it well enough that I would WANT to beta for them or to ask them to beta for me) are extremely rare. Even my wife won't read my stuff--the very idea of P&F erotica freaks her out. That said, I'm a much more skilled writer than I was years ago, so I feel like I can make do without a beta somewhat better than I could have back then. However, I still find that I don't really have any sense of the pace of my own stories; to me, scenes that are a page or two long often seem far longer, because I've reread them or replayed them in my head time and time again in an effort to get them right. I think I've completely lost sight of whatever point I was trying to make in the post. Maybe someone could beta it for me.
  6. Maybe it's pathetic, but getting reviews is usually a thrill for me. The mere fact that the person read the story and had something to say about it is flattering. That said, I definitely prefer some types of reviews over others: Best: "What I like about this story" and constructive criticism reviews OK: "This was fun to read" Worst: "This sux ballz," "You didn't write about what I want you to write about"
  7. I write PHINEAS AND FERB stories, and the focus is either on the kids (who are around 11) or the teens (who are around 15). My feeling is that because these characters are precocious in virtually every way, it makes sense that they would be sexually precocious, too.
  8. Thank you, thank you, and thank you! IMO, writing stories that are true to the characters but that take them in new directions is what fanfiction (especially "adult" fanfiction) is all about. Vanessa and Ferb, eh? Let me toss that idea in the hopper and see if anything comes out. Vanessa IS the hottest character on the show, so it would be a shame to underuse her.
  9. I already replied to FairySlayer's review via PM, but for the sake of completeness, I thought I'd post the reply here--plus a few extra comments. Thanks for the detailed review! I just loved the idea of the kids pursuing the idea of making a porno movie with the same innocent enthusiasm they apply to everything else they do. Thank you! I didn't intend to have nearly so much Buford in the story, but I just kept finding more things for him to do. I feel like Isabella has more than paid her dues on the show; she deserves some serious Phineas-love. She has the twin disadvantages of being lovesick and of Phineas being about as socially perceptive as a pack of gum. Ever since seeing his reaction to Isabella's kiss in ACROSS THE 2ND DIMENSION, though, I've liked to think that Phineas IS attracted to Isabella, just not on a conscious level. Yeah, I didn't want to drag the story out too much; I felt like it was already pretty long. I also just love making Candace freak out. Thanks again!
  10. In the end, I almost felt that the story wasn't pornographic ENOUGH--that the comedy interrupted the sex too much. But keeping the characters genuine is always my first priority. In any case, thank you!
  11. This was the first P&F story I ever posted here, long before I was introduced to the idea of having a response thread. Because I just got a new review for it, I figure I might as well start one.
  12. I will concede that the dialogue is not as witty as some, but that's probably because Jeremy and Stacy do most of the talking, and they aren't the characters who tend to have the funniest lines. The humor was mainly intended to come from Candace freaking out (something I never seem to tire of) and then Candace getting her "happy ending," as it were. This is indeed a one-shot. However, I recently started a separate story that delves much deeper into the idea of a Candace/Jeremy/Stacy relationship, so stay tuned.
  13. Thank you, and thank you some more! Making the characters speak with their own "voices" is of great importance to me.
  14. I just posted this story today, but I figured I would be proactive and start a review response thread now. Anon, to date I have written THREE stories in which Phineas/Isabella lovin' is an important component. Please enjoy them.
  15. Pittwitch, can I borrow your brainbleach for a minute? I think it will do the trick. FairySlayer, the tricky bit about "lie" and "lay" is that "lie" is the intransitive verb (because only you can lie down; you can't lie something else down) and "lay" is the transitive verb (because you can only lay other things down) BUT "lay" is ALSO the past tense of "lie." Oh, this random word goulash we call English. And yes, PHINEAS AND FERB is still in production, and it's as good as ever! (Although I might change my mind next week, depending on how the could-go-horribly-wrong P&F/Marvel crossover ep turns out.)
  16. He looks a little like Bengali from THUNDERCATS.
  17. If you're saying you think the story should have ended before the sex scene with Lena, then I would have to disagree. That scene was completely necessary, or I would have been left thinking, "So is Yang leaving Lena for
  18. I frequently start my stories with a warning along the lines of, "If you don't want to read about cartoon teens/preteens getting it on, please use your Back button now." So I wonder whether this author simply has poor communication skills and was trying to say something along the lines of, "If you don't like the CONTENT of my stories, just don't read it, instead of leaving me reviews about why you hate the 'ship I write about, how my story doesn't jibe with the Hagrid/Hermione/Fang relationship you fantasize about, or why I'm a sick bitch or son thereof." Or, he or she could just be a dillweed.
  19. I completely agree that using the Oxford (serial) comma is a good thing, but there are actually a lot of styles out there that specifically forbid it. That includes AP style, which is probably the most widely read style in the English-speaking world. So I can't blame people for not considering it an essential component of good punctuation.
  20. I can't resist requiting Isabella's unrequited love for Phineas. I originally planned to make Tru seem a little darker, like maybe she had some sort of hidden agenda, only to reveal at the end that her motives were anything but sinister. She's basically an extension of Phineas and Ferb themselves--she might go to extremes, but ultimately, she's generous and thoughtful and just wants everyone to have a good time. LOL. I thought it would be fun to give Adyson a hidden fetish...and Buford a forcible shower. I believe Django is named for the child of one of the producers of the show. I kind of got it into my head that the pheromones had a bit more effect on Django than the other kids, turning a nice young man into a ravening sex-beast. Can't get enough Gretchen. And yes, I was trying to imply that Ferb returns her fondness for him. (On some level, 11-year-old Ferb must know that he has no chance with 16-year-old Vanessa.) Like the writers of the show, I can't resist an opportunity to make Candace completely freak out. Chuckled at the idea of Linda medicating her neurotic daughter with hash brownies. Although Linda would probably use a pie. I figure robots need love too. But that squirrel's gonna have a rough night. THANK YOU!
  21. I didn't really want to bring the teenagers into the action because (1) an orgy of 10 characters was as much as I could handle without losing track of what was going on, (2) I just couldn't imagine a scenario in which Candace interacts sexually with her brothers or their friends, and (3) I just LOVE making Candace completely freak out. In any case, I'm glad you basically liked the story.
  22. Yes, the disinhibition field was a little bit of a cheat (although it doesn't strike me as any more implausible than most of what happens on P&F). I used it partly as a way of showing how out of control Tru was getting in her manipulation of the kids, and partly to set up the very last scene with Norm.
  23. I knew I was taking a chance trying to ramp the story up gradually. My main reasons for doing it were (1) I wanted the game to escalate at a somewhat realistic pace at the beginning and (2) I wanted to see how much intensity I could squeeze out of really simple things: a hug, a kiss, a first trip to second base. Maybe it wasn't as much as I'd hoped.
  24. Inspired by the example of other authors on AFF, I thought I would create a review response thread for my PHINEAS AND FERB fic, "Truth or Dare 2.0."
