Okay, I'm going to say this once again. Hidden stories are NOT tech support issues. Any further posts in tech support will be deleted. PLEASE post these in the proper forum, where this is moved to.

Appleseed, I'm JUST as paranoid. I wouldn't so much call it paranoia, as being careful, and wanting to CYA. You bet that I check status on it periodically. Thing is, if it does get passed as proposed, fanfiction sites, fanart sites, and etc would all be in very serious trouble. But, as I said, I expect once it's all hammered out, it will be very different. Add to that, that because it's not something life threatening, such as drugs, it's going to take a long time to get all sides to agree and ratify any form of document. That actually works to our favor for now. Shunskitten, We've been through this sort of thing on the having to remove content end, including a cease and desist with one person already. (That would be Anne Rice). That's also why I went through and eliminated all that content, and as it shows up here and there (and it does) I am obliged to delete it as soon as I see it. By complying in that fashion, not only was the site not forced to be shut down via the hosting company (they would have had no choice), I also did not have to release one IOTA of information. Which is exactly how I like it. What gave us the time and made it so it was a more workable solution was the disclaimers, and the format I insist on. It really does help in the initial contact phase, should it occur. Overall, I'm thankful that most of the people who's work gets ...twisted around (as a form of homage) don't tend to get upset about it, and look at it as free publicity, often. Having said that, I also can understand and respect where authors get upset at fans trying to make money off their work and worlds, and are more aggressive in protecting themselves and their work. MZB comes to mind, there. Any of you old enough very likely know what I'm talking about, where a fan SUED her for taking an idea (she claimed, it wasn't true) for and about her Darkover series. In that for instance, the author was definitely abused by the fan, as the fan took correspondence they'd been exchanging, and then published, and then claimed it wasn't MZB's original stuff to begin with. Which, if one looks at the chronology of the works, the letters involved and etc, it definitely WAS. More recently, you have the person who tried to make money off of the Potterverse, via a website I think it was. Ms. Rowling was well within her rights to sue them and get that whole mess shut down, of course. What both examples point to, however, is that most fans would never do that. It just takes a couple "bad apples" to spoil everything for all the rest of 'em you know.

Twitter update The link in your profile to your twitter account is now live! We have created the following FAQ that has some handy links on how to set up/use Twitter. While we understand that having something integrated into the site for updates would be ideal, this is a great work around in the meantime. Plus it gives you yet another way to communicate with your readers! You can also follow us on Twitter for additional news, updates etc by following @AdultFanFiction or simply visiting our Twitter page: http://www.twitter.com/adultfanfiction Funding Status Information to exact status is always found on the donations page. Currently, the site has $229.59 stored in PayPal. October's hosting costs have been paid and with expected advertising revenue we are well covered for November! We do always appreciate donations though! Please see the donation page for further information on how. Tech and Moderator Staff Status from DemonGoddess061 Forum Modifications The modifications which users were used to having, meaning the arcade, the battle shop, casino, and "store" are not yet rewritten for version 3.x of the Invisionboard. Until they are, they won't be added back as they will not work. We will keep checking them and when they become available, we will have them up. Jump Menu This is located in the user profile (what other users in the archive see), as well as the user panel (where you add stories) that allows you to move between the various sub-domain. Before adding stories to the archive, please be sure to use the jump menu to ensure you are in the correct sub-domain. We routinely delete on sight anything that is added to the wrong sub-domain. To use the jump menu, you simply select a "zone"(subdomain) from the drop down list, and click go. Then you add your work. Stories added to the wrong sub-domain As stated above, we routinely delete new adds to sub-domains that do not belong there. You will see, throughout the archive, a category called zMisplaced Admin Use Only. It really IS admin use only, so please do not add anything to those categories and expect them to stay. The only stories that I move to there, are pre-existing from before the archive recategorization and clean up, which I know I have to move from one subdomain to another. Anything new added to those categories is deleted. Avatar File Naming We understand that people would like to be able to upload their own avatars to the site. It's been a feature that users have enjoyed since it was implemented. However, we need to revisit file names for the avatars. When you upload a file with more than 15 characters, it throws off all the formatting in the page and makes it very difficult for users to navigate and pick one. I go through the avatar subdirectory every few days (no less than once a week) and delete any avatar which exceeds the 15 character limit for the file name. This limit does not include the extension (i.e. .gif, .jpg). Please be considerate of your fellow users when uploading avatars. Disclaimer Issues and Other Problems I've created a new sub-forum for this specifically, where, for example, your story has been hidden because we told you the disclaimer needed to be fixed and it wasn't. No forum login is required, you simply post to the forum with your story title and sub-domain (otherwise I have NO idea where to look), and that it was hidden and you've corrected the issue. At that point, one of the mod staff will look at your story to verify. If it's still not corrected, we'll tell you that. If it's corrected and unhidden, we tell you that too. This forum is located here. Please cease posting these topics to tech support. This is NOT a tech support issue. As always, please remember to FEED your authors! It means a lot to them. DG for Apollo

Deleted the story and the user is next. What about "you must be 18" do these kids not understand??
-
If Pokemon has a crossover category, yes, that's where it would go.
-
If you post a story to the wrong subdomain, when we find it, we delete it. You need to re-add to whatever subdomain it actually belongs TO, not to anime, which is where most of this occurs.
-
The LU group are right pieces of work, aren't they? I still say that lot is doing this to harass people, and really not for any other reason.
-
What exactly are you looking to chat about? The site itself does not have a chat room.
-
Actually, when we inform people of possibly being hidden, it is when we give them notice of an improper disclaimer or some other thing such as that. That is the only notice that is given. We're not required to give notice of hiding or deleting anything at all. Aside from that... Gotta say, that's one of the FUNNIER content warnings I've seen.
-
It's because we have people who ignore where they're at in the archive, and then upload to wherever without making sure they're in the right subdomain. Happens every day....and we delete 'em
-
As a guest poster, you can't edit a post. I'll have a look at the stories when I get home from work, and verify that the FFN flames are removed. After that, I'll unhide 'em.
-
That I seriously doubt. As I said, this whole thing is being hammered out to begin with. Currently though, what your disclaimer does is make it so that if I must do anything, it's simply to delete the content in question. Of course, if I did not, then the site itself would be in jeopardy by my refusal to comply. It also makes it so that I do not have to release any information about the users specifically to whoever it is making it to where I must delete content.

The fanfiction category, tech support forum, bug tracker, and report category/forums are the only areas where guests can post. In order to post anywhere else, and in fact, to view the rest, you have to create a login.

I leave you alone for a little while, and you burn the site down!
DemonGoddess replied to Evility's topic in Personal Notes
LOL. Well, like I said before, the battle mod, the casino, and the arcade are all being rewritten just as the forum itself was. That takes time. With the latest version being no more than about six weeks old, the modification have to catch UP to it. -

For hidden stories (usually disclaimer issues) Please remember to tell us both the title of the story, and what subdomain the story is IN. Without that information, no one can look and find out how to help you. Deleted stories Stories added to the wrong subdomain are deleted as soon as we find them. Please remember to use the jump menu located in both your profile and your user panel. Either one will get you to the right subdomain for where you need to add your work. Emails sent, and then stories hidden Please, please do not ignore the emails we send regarding author note chapters, excessive author notes, review demands, and the like. If there is a problem in your story which we've notified you via email on, if you choose not to correct it, it will get hidden, just as if we left you a warn/review. That email sent still counts in that manner. Finally, if a story is hidden, the user can STILL access it via their user panel. It's not missing, simply pulled from the public listing until whatever it is that is wrong, is corrected. Once the issue mentioned is corrected, we do unhide it.

Deleted both, emailed user on how to use the jump menu
-
It's simple, really. Visit your twitter page, copy/paste the url from it to that field, click alter profile.
-
Well hell. Thought it was there. In any case, it is now.

What we need from you is that you either have a story ready for upload, or that you have one you are in the process of writing which WILL be ready for upload before creating any kind of category.
