  1. the gmail. I forgot to edit the FAQ
  2. A few rather large changes, either in the works, or already done. Core software upgrade To facilitate some upcoming major upgrades, PHP and MySQL have both been upgraded to 5.x. This means we may be seeing some bugs in the archive. I already know of one, and expect to have it sorted it out pretty quickly. After some extensive function testing, I've not seen anything else as of yet. This one affects where a user clicks the link for lost password. What happens, is that link is clicked, and you get a white screen. I know WHERE to look in the script for the function, so this shouldn't be a major fix. Having said that, it may be a few days before I get to it, as I have another large upgrade I'll be doing later today. In any case, not to worry, as users can always contact me directly for the lost password information. Forum Upgrade This is the next major change that is upcoming. I expect to have this done later tonight. If visiting the board during the upgrade, you'll either see the offline board message, or you may even see a white screen, temporarily. It depends on WHERE exactly the board is, in the upgrade routines. All modifications done to the board will be lost. As time allows, and as modification writers release versions compatible to IPB 3.x, I will add them back in. As version 3.x is coded ENTIRELY in php5, the modification writers have had to completely rewrite their mods as well. PLEASE do not revert to unficcing in the archive while the forum is down. Those will be deleted, as always. After all, this is a temporary down time, not permanent. The upgrade will take from one to two hours. Funding Status Information to exact status is always found on the donations page. Currently, the site has $279.14 stored in paypal, with a $25 credit at the hosting company. With expected funds for banner renewal, we should be more than ready to pay the hosting company, ON TIME. AFF Store and admin@ email address Apollo has secured the store for the site, so that any income derived from it is accessible TO the site. The admin@adult-fanfiction.org address, while active, is simply overloaded with literally thousands of messages she is going through. So, we ask that you consider this email address to be inactive for the time being, as she sorts through it all. We thank you for your patience as she continues this task. Redbootton This particular program has caused many, many users more than a little in the way of headaches. Rest assured, that if we get a report generated by it, we check each and every individual report sent in. As to that, getting reports which say "bad grammar", or "need to use spellcheck", those are deleted out of hand. We've been getting those off and on for probably 3 months, maybe a bit longer. The thing is, if a user has a GENUINE complaint, they will SAY what the complaint is in their email. Considering the content on this site, we've actually gotten very few regarding NC/17 or MA, although there've been some of those as well. For the rest, AN chapters and other things, we ALREADY check for those ourselves. Without the use of a script. As to the script, I personally will not use it, as I don't know whether or not there is some malicious content in it. It's entirely too easy for a programmer to write in a malicious subroutine. I don't know this person, nor have I seen any other examples of his scripting work, so therefore have no reason to trust the programming is safe to download. As to the use of the script itself by others for reporting purposes, to my way of thinking, their use IS malicious in nature, and thus not to be trusted. ---- Please remember that this site is free to use. As such, the authors receive nothing for their efforts, except reviews. Do let them know that you read their stories, please! I'm sure they'll appreciate hearing from you! -- As always, comments are welcome. If reviews are left to the archive posts of this, they'll be answered in this topic.
  3. AC/DC - You Shook Me
  4. Well, a couple things could've happened. It could very well be you chose the wrong main category (which is now M through R, as I corrected the category name). If, for example, you had the main set to misc, you wouldn't have seen the title. As RogueMudblood showed you, the category is there. As this is one of those categories which were created long before I did it, I went ahead and corrected the title name to Neon Genesis Evangelion. So, you now find it in the top level category of M through R. If you need help with the jump menu and navigating your user panel, let me know.
  5. PHP and mySQL have both been successfully upgraded. You may have seen a "couldn't connect to database" error for about a minute. Other than that, it all went very well. Next up is the forum. IPS is doing that upgrade, for free. It's part of the licensing package when there is a MAJOR version change, which this is. At that time, you'll see an offline message which will tell you the same thing.

    Ai no Kusabi

Good! I hope you give it a shot!
  7. From taking a quick look at my own, it looks like it's gotten a bit streamlined, and easier to navigate.
  8. Beethoven's 9th Symphony, performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
  9. It's deleted
  10. Approximately one hour. All current modifications will be lost. However, as they're available, and I have the time, I will port back the newest versions of them, which are compatible to 3.x
  11. Good thing, is it'll be a minimal downtime. The ten minutes INLCUDES if Nexcess has to restore the old RPMs just in case this doesn't work. I expect no issues, but it's best to be prepared in case we do have to roll back. After I confirm it's all done, without issue, the forum is next for upgrading, as the latest version REQUIRES php5. IPB 2.x is EOL now, and no longer supported.
  12. Expect the archive to be down completely approximately 10 minutes, Friday in the morning. The core software kernels (PHP and MySQL) are being upgraded.
  13. Those of you who read and write for this particular category, I'm sure have seen that the stories are being shifted around. As the subcategory met the requirements to become a top level category, we then sorted the data, and I am now in the process of moving everything around.

    Pokemon fic

If you give me a title, or if you remember an author name, I can verify whether or not it was underage user that was deleted. That's USUALLY why stories just up and disappear like that.
  15. Sinking fleet ships on the virtual seas, with The Brotherhood
  16. Aye, been a pirate on the virtual seas for years! Favorite pirates are Grace O'Malley, Anne Bonny, Mary Read and of course Huang P’ei-mei.
  17. To check it, I need you to tell me what the title is, and what subdomain it's published to.
  18. @Constantine14 (from query left in games subdomain) Eventually, yes, we will have a budgetable income with advertising. Unfortunately, the accounting end of all this has been done haphazardly at BEST for the past several years. Not to mention lack of follow through and other things which make it so that one CAN count on x amount of dollars a month in that form of income. If you followed the link to this topic, you'd see WHY I brought up donations this news post (was thanking two people). Also, if you click this link, you'll see current status of need. As you can see there, I do indicate there is no need at this time, with projected ad renewals I expect this month.
  19. Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity
  20. Yes, yes, we all know you're an alien....and that I SPAWNED ya.
  21. Apollo's Return Those of you who've been with the site since 2005 and before, no doubt remember Apollo. She has returned, in an active capacity. So there is no misunderstanding, APOLLO is the site owner. Transitory Period We've secured the entirety of the site, including the admin@ email, which hasn't been read for at least two years. Apollo has also secured access to the AFF store. In the interim, while there is still transition, please consider the admin@ email as inactive. She is steadily going through all that mail. TWO YEARS WORTH. I'm sure it will be easier on Apollo if that mail box is left alone until she's got it all sorted out. Thank you for your patience during this time. Donations Once again, I wanted to thank each and every one of you who have so generously donated. You've made it possible for us to get things pretty well caught up. There are a couple people who donated direct to Nexcess, on 9/14 and 9/15. If either of you would like to be linked to in the public supporters page, please contact me at this email address: afforums@gmail.com. I'm using this post for this purpose, as I get no details in the account other than amount and real name associated with the amount, so have no way to contact you. Forum guest posting For some reason, when I did the last upgrade which was to fix a potential security breach, it seems to have mucked up the recaptcha for that in the forum. I've submitted a support ticket, and am hoping to have this resolved this week. In the meantime, guests can still view where it's set up, but are unable to post due to the recaptcha not working correctly. This only affects forum guest posting, nothing else where recaptcha is used. Advertiser Subweb I've reworked most of this area of the site. There are still a few minor changes to be made, which I expect to have done within the week. There is now a payment options page, where the advertiser can select what they want to do, exactly, and click a button. On this page is a subscription option, for those who prefer to set up a recurring payment. The one time only payment option is still there, of course. The one time pay option is set up for both monthly and annual transactions. -- Please remember that this site is free to use. As such, the authors receive nothing for their efforts, except reviews. Do let them know that you read their stories, please! I'm sure they'll appreciate hearing from you!
  22. Even there. It should never do that, regardless of screen size. What that means, is that a separator line of identical characters is too long.
  23. aha yes. It's a stretchy!
  24. Well, the news announcement will actually be made TODAY. We can be silly in forum... B)
