I like both, but if the story is mainly meant to be erotic, the writer has to know what they’re doing for buildup to work well. It can be super-sexy if it’s done right and super-dull if it’s done wrong.

The penultimate chapter of “Out of Hand” is posted! Chapter 9: I Literally Need It

Thanks for the input, all! Looks like I need to come up with a different title for this story. It’s an original story about the captain of a freelance salvage vessel. She has a chip implanted in her head that enables her to, among other things, make log entries by thought alone. (This means that the story is told in the first person and largely in present tense, because the captain makes most of her log entries in real time rather than in retrospect.) While she and her all-female crew are on a planet searching for a crashed ship full of valuable cargo, she falls into a goo of slime that consumes her entire body except for her central nervous system and the chip. The goo then becomes her new body, and it comes with powerful and horrific new urges. Any thoughts? I have been struggling to come up with something adequate.

So let me ask y’all this: If you saw a story titled “Captain’s Log” and knew nothing else about it, would you assume it was a Star Trek fanfic?

Chapter 9 of “Out of Hand” is off to beta. So yay. Believe it or not, I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the final story of The Power Arcane. I’m hoping it will be ready to post in no more than a month.

It took me literally years to think of that title; for ages, I was simply calling it “Untitled Shotadom Story.” The conventional wisdom is that it’s the sub who is really in control. So I thought, why not be explicit about that? Well, you shouldn’t have to wait long—I sent chapter 1 off to beta about 10 minutes ago. Thank you! I’m fond of that story.

The latest chapter of “Out of Hand” involved someone hiding in the closet in Lincoln’s room. Then someone posted a comment on AO3 that Lincoln’s room doesn’t have a closet, because it is itself a closet. I knew the room was a converted linen closet, but I had thought I remembered Lincoln looking at his orange polos hanging on a rod inside a closet. But yesterday, I looked at a picture of Lincoln's room and saw that the rod is right over his dresser, and that the room indeed has no closet. I’m so picky about canon that I went back and changed the chapter. Now, that person is hiding behind the dresser instead.

My beta got back to me with lightning speed, so now, chapter 8 of “Out of Hand” is posted! Chapter 8: ¡Qué Grande!

News: Chapter 8 of “Out of Hand” has just gone off to beta. And chapter 4 of “House Petracor” will probably be ready to post by this weekend.

@Yahegai Exactly! Lola seems like the type to use every advantage she has. And since she had already seen Lana impersonate her in “Toads and Tiaras,” she knew she could make it work. I put the “Lincoln crushes on Misty” subplot in there because I wanted to have a climactic sex scene in the final chapter. Glad that worked for you.

@Yahegai Thanks! I tried to think of what sort of dialogue one might find in one of Kelsey’s favorite books, and this kind of banter between enemies seemed like a must.

Re: "Rashōmonster" The original Rashōmon (and "In a Grove," the 1922 short story by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa that Rashōmon is based on) helped popularize the idea of the unreliable narrator. I tried to capture that in the story--hence the trippiness. Glad you enjoyed it! Re: "Clydeborg: The Six Million Dollar Ladies’ Man" Having written a lot of Lincoln-centric stories that more or less sidelined Clyde to keep him from messing up the sexy action, I wanted to do the opposite for once.

@Yahegai Thanks! I had never before written two endings for a story, but when someone suggested adding an alternate ending, I started to think about what a dark ending to the story would be like, and I really liked the ideas that came of that, so I went with them.
