  1. If you received our email with the links, and you were able to successfully validate, you would have gotten a message saying that you had validated, and you then would have been able to reset your password. I did go and look in my database, and I show you as validated, with a reset password. If you hadn’t validated, I would see an unused link or an unused password reset link. As far as telling if you’re logged in, the fastest way is to look at the upper right corner of the archive home page. If it has a LOGOUT link, you’re logged in. You can also click the three bars on the upper left corner of that home page, and the dropdown menu will have your pen name at the top, with either a logout link under the edit profile link, or it will have the fields to enter your email address and password, and a link to click to log in.
  2. I’m showing you as fully validated and registered, with a completed password reset. When you open the archive home page, does it show you as logged in already?
  3. I am the poster child for “Are you incapable of completing a story?” I have 2 co-written WIPs here on AFF, 2 more WIPS on AFF that are all my fault, and something like 4 WIPS that may or may not end up here, depending on whether or not I get laughed out the door at my publishers. I do have quite a few one-shots and a couple of completed stories, so I’m capable of finishing things. I just… don’t?
  4. New links have been sent to you via email.
  5. New links have been emailed to you.
  6. I’m going to email you with a possible solution.
  7. I’m going to need your pen name, or your User ID number to find your account so I can send you the links to activate your account.
  8. I sent a new link via email that should work for you.
  9. Well, now, I’ve found most of the local republicans are lovely people when you have them for tea, with a little watercress, on very thinly sliced sourdough bread delicately smeared with hand-churned sweet butter from local cows. (Democrats are best on artisan bagels, with a smear of cream cheese and some very thinly sliced red onion. I can’t say I recommend libertarians at all—they’re always that little bit sour no matter what you do, although independents appeal to the white bread set since they tend to be rather bland.)
  10. I have never personally encountered any headless people at all in Sleepy Hollow, but yes, when you come and visit again, we’ll go there. It’s a lovely little town, actually!
  11. I actually live fairly near to Sleepy Hollow and Mount Pleasant, so I do know the area.
  12. For me, inspiration comes from the strangest of places, and that can indeed include something I’ve read. The key, though, is the definition of plagiarism. The Grammarly blog has a good post about plagiarism: https://www.grammarly.com/blog/types-of-plagiarism/ The thing to keep in mind is that there are common tropes shared by many stories and novels, and certain genres of writing tend to follow a very similar pattern (such as mysteries, or horror fiction). So, just deciding that you really liked that pairing, and want to write something yourself in that fandom for that pairing doesn’t constitute plagiarism. If you put that pairing in the exact same scenario, with the same events, then you’re crossing the line.
  13. My question would be what sort of weaponry X is being trained to use along with the special abilities. If the guardian spirit is piggybacking on X, then learning the cues from the spirit isn’t going to take as long as learning how to fight with a bladed weapon with reasonable proficiency. Learning to use a projectile weapon is faster since it doesn’t require building both skill and muscle memory. As far as physical conditioning, if the training is daily and intense, X might make it to badass in under 300 days given X is starting out as fit and healthy. Kickboxing and daily runs implies a seriously good foundation to build on.
  14. I’ve sent you new links via email.
  15. Tagging @manta2g on this, since it’s code-related.
  16. I’ve emailed you new links, which should work.
  17. The account has been deleted per your request.
  18. I have several members with a pen name of JadeHeart. I don’t want you to post your email address here on a public forum, but if you can tell me the email client (like gmail, for example), it would help me identify the correct account. Then I’ll be able to send you links that should work.
  19. Even more reason to have manta take a look. We knew there would be little wrinkles to iron out.
  20. Hopefully, @manta2g can shed light on why the archive is not displaying attributes from the RTE.
  21. Until we’re fully back up, with every function restored, I won’t be hiding stories.
  22. What is your archive pen name, or user ID?
  23. I’ve just emailed new links to you. This email should come from tos_team@adult-fanfiction.org
  24. For Transgression from InvidiaRed: And who’s to say this isn’t how a Fall does start? (Which is what I get for arguing theology with Jesuits in my youth ) Gods are rarely benevolent. We just want them to be that way, to like us and tell us we’re their favorite creation. We forget that we probably aren’t the first, and most likely won’t be the last, and perhaps one day, it will be us fragile mortals looking askance at Creation 3.02 or some such thing. And when we fall, our gods will treat us just as harshly. We’ll get our noses smacked with a newspaper, or rubbed in our own mess, even if that’s never the way to teach a lesson. Now me? I know my gods don’t give a damn what I do or think. I’m the one who needs them. It makes it much simpler all around.
  25. I had a friend who tested negative for pregnancy into her 9th month. She was, fortunately, quite aware she was pregnant, and didn’t suspect demonic interference.
