It is fixed, replaced recaptcha with a different verification which is more people friendly but not bot friendly.

So I know I have been a ghost and there were updates to be done but…… Life has been a pain in the ass with my regular work place going out of business and the chaos going on because of it. Still very burnt out and only recently have I had enough function in my hands to type properly. I hope everyone can be a bit more patient and I will do my best to get the rest of the updates done as I get time when not a zombie in pain.

Me, personally, I’d rather you were fully functioning first.
Life has been treating me much the same, chronically short handed at work, loads of stupid shit to do FOR work, which means being overtired and not daring to venture into the db itself for those kinds of repairs.

That is completely possible and will be added to my to do list. right now I’m still debugging the archive skin so that it dose not cause weird draw issues.

It is nice to be able to see again after going almost 3 weeks of having to rely on a 6 year old persecution that gave me a max of 18 inch radius of viability. Now to get back to tackling the css and other code bits for the mobile friendly skin.

Digital implants? Now I am imagining bionic eyes… perhaps they could add some additional useful functions, like a zoom or a record capability. That would be amazing. Then all the selfie people really would be like Narcissus, forever staring into their mirrors.

My 5 year old grey tabby is in the hospital, vet bills are already at $1300 will probably go up, but he asked for help and i want to give him a chance.

Reviewer Names Converted to ANON in posted stories

*sighs* if a user was logged in the review board logs their uid and links their review to their account showing their proper pen name, if they were not logged in the uid is default 0 and will display as ANON, people who are not logged in can sign their reviews but many simply never think to do so. -

FairySlayer the layout is not completely final, for now we have put site functions and new code being compatible with future versions of php and mysql as well as eliminating any remaining old code bits floating around. The last core functions before we can run a full cleaning on the archives file system is the new search engine and the review system. Once the file system cleanup is done, tweaking the layout can commence. feel free to pm me any suggestions you may have.

Stolen Fanfiction Alert/malware/compromised accounts at FFnet

From basic proding it seems that any fiction site running fiction press as it's core is vulnerable which includes fanfiction.net, Custom coded archives do not seem to have been touched by this since their code base is not public. Still good to know about it though I am not worried about that happening to this archive since security is a big part of how the new code operates, has been for years now. -
Tomorrow I'm another year older, another decade till I reach the age of the ultimate answer that no one knows the question to. *sighs*

Suggestions for Archive cleanup and restructure

The planned reworking of tags will not bog down searching but can also be used while browsing categories to filter out stories with content that may make the user uneasy. For other users it can also be used to help find content they are looking for. Of course this feature change to tags is on the giant to do list for upgrading the site to work with future server upgrades. -
"Currently Reading" and/or "Recommended Reading" should not experience any issues since they are already part of the newer site code.

*reads* full text search of chapters is not going to happen, but in the recode there will be full text search of story summaries which is the closest you will get, since trying to full text search chapter data will crash the whole database, even with sphinx, the load is just too big.

As vast as php may be the '+' sign even when escaped for storing in a database dose not guarantee it will not mess with output and the user table joins with other tables for information output and an e-mail address with a plus sign stored in the database when outputted can break code, be it php or in java. besides the only time the archive will e-mail you is to activate your account or to reset your password, other then that the bulk of e-mail from AFF is from the forums. -

The edit chapter is now with the new editor, though fair warning some older chapters that did not use HTML formatting will show up unformatted in the new editor but display fine in regular archive for reading. Since the new editor is fully integrated and manual entering of HTML code is turned off, there are expanded formatting functions available for all members. I hope everyone enjoys this update for the archives, it's in our hope it will make peoples lives easier. Just a note to anyone who might be upset that uploading is turned off, just copy and past into the editor, really it's not that hard and it's cleaner, especially from word documents.
