  1. Dude, I think everybody was aware of Gustav. Lord knows the news wouldn't shut up about it. Meanwhile, I've heard very little about, say, the flooding of Brahmaputra River displacing about 2.1 million people, killing 24 and potentially causing an epidemic. But then again, that's just India. Not nearly such a "special case" as New Orleans. Finally, the fact that you seem to view this site as your personal megaphone is... worrying. If this were your Livejournal or MySpace page or whatever you might have been right. Sure, you may own this site, but you're not the only one paying for it and I'm pretty sure you're not the only one maintaining it. And, let's face it, you're not the main reason people come to this site anyway. So using the front page to promote your own pet causes seems... egocentric.
  2. So, err, why didn't we get a similar Site Announcement when war broke out between Georgia and Russia?
  3. Actually, I think it's fetish fuel. So is it a real curse if it's the one thing that'll really make the writer fap/shlick? As for the whole Chosen Ones thing... well, Pokémon isn't exactly known for being epic high fantasy. I suppose it's gonna depend on writing skill on making this anything more than a convenient handwave. So I think I'll just remain sceptical about the whole thing.
  4. Let's see... the whole point of Legendaries is that they're incredibly rare and ridiculously overpowered? If you don't see how giving a bunch of them to your main characters right at the very start of the fic might be seen by some as a bit ridiculous, I suggest you read up on the Mary Sue phenomenon. Mind you, I'd have no trouble with the idea that your main characters start out with normally entirely ordinary Pokémon (like, say, Pikachu) and manage to earn their Legendaries in some way other than by virtue of being the Designated Heroes.
  5. Are you really that intent on giving your main characters Legendary Pokémon? Because that way Mary Sue lies. Personally, I'd go for something like Espeon, Kirlia/Gardevoir and Xatu.
  6. Yeah, in the broadest sense, Mary Sues are just so perfect and so special and everbody loves them so much. Except the readers, of course. They tend to think this sort of character is annoying.
  7. This is why I envy fanartists sometimes. They can just draw a picture of Character X sucking off Character Y and nobody will complain (unless the art is ugly). Granted, if you write a canon pairing you can get away with it, even though there might still be people like me complaining about the lack of context.
  8. Well, a lot of gamers out there don't have much patience. 'Least that's what Bishop, the dude at the video store said. (Sorry.) In my experience, about 6 reviews and 10 ratings for about 7,000 hits.
  9. Two. Four if it's a futa story. And I think it's worth it. The futa stories especially get me a bit more attention, since I also post those on sites dedicated to futa, thereby easily reaching an audience actually really into that stuff.

    Deleting Reviews

I don't delete reviews, except my own. Sometimes I respond to a review with a 'review' because I don't really have any other way of getting in touch with them, leave it up for a couple of weeks and then delete it again if there hasn't been a reply. Not sure why, really. Just a policy of mine.
  11. I don't hate a lack of reviews enough to pull my stories (as evidenced by a story of mine that, at the moment, has over 1,000 hits but still a grand total of 0 reviews or ratings), but they do drive me away from fandoms. I often write in small fandoms simply because they're small fandoms and a complete lack of fic bothers me. But, of course, being small fandoms I get hardly any reviews, so, after an average of about two fics, I often just shrug and move on to the next obsession. I have dabbled in larger fandoms from time to time, but response isn't that much larger there, relatively speaking. After all, a fic with 6 reviews and about 7,000 hits can be said the be less succesfull, review-wise, as a fic with 2 reviews out of about a 1,000 hits.
  12. I suppose I could give it a go as well, though I have no idea how this 'co-writer' gig is supposed to work. I've played Fire Emblems 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. So that would be the one with Roy, the one without a subtitle in English, the black sheep, the first without sprites and the one with the Ike who doesn't appear in Brawl. As for pairings... I'm mostly a yuri writer, though there might be one or two het pairings out there that could tickle my fancy. Mostly along the lines of Lyn/Kent or Eirika/Ephraim or... well, that's pretty much it actually.
  13. I'll admit I already made this request by e-mail, but have had absolutely no reply one way or the other, so I'm trying it here. Catagory name: No More Heroes Section catagory to be in: Games Do you have any stories for it?: Yes. Two. For now.
  14. Just to be sure, you're talking about the birthday information in the "Profile Information" bit of my profile, right?
  15. Do forums count? Because there are a few that have dedicated (fan)fic subforums, and I post my stories there too.
  16. I'll try not to be too much of a snarky bastard about it, but... Perhaps you should have listened to their grievances. That way they wouldn't have left en masse and you wouldn't be bummed out by now.
  17. So it seems the vast majority of the forum moderators left because they're not very happy with the new management. Well, that kind of thing happens I suppose. Still this means the forum is either left with very few moderators or is simply largely unmoderated. I know we're a small, usually fairly happy community, but somehow I doubt this is a healthy state of affairs. So. What's going to happen next?
  18. Bit late, but whatever... Van harte gefeliciteerd, Grote Samurai.
  19. Really? I thought Princess Maker fell more into the genre of, roughly speaking, The Sims rather than Knights of Xentar.
  20. What? You're the mod of the Videogames section! Nothing videogame-related is outside your jurisdiction. I am willing to accept that it may not be your area of expertise, though.
  21. Wow, that's surprisingly lame. In this case, the ALLCAPS make it even lamer. Ah well.
  22. By the way, is it ever revealed just what is up with Fujin's voice? To me it seems like she's essentially mute or something, but has some kind of device or implant or whatever that allows her to talk anyway. I could be hilariously wrong, though.
  23. I like the game, don't get me wrong. It's just that I enjoy playing Laguna a lot more than I enjoy playing Squall right now. Even if the Laguna sections tend to mess up my carefully crafted Junctions.
  24. OK, so I recently started playing FFVIII and I have to say that, other than the sometimes time-consuming 'drawing' mechanic, it doesn't really deserve the hate it seems to get. I do have one little problem with it, though: Laguna is so much more likeable than Squall it's ridiculous. I've only just made it to the second disc, but so far Laguna is a gloriously normal human being whereas Squall appears to be somewhat one-dimensional. Or maybe I just like Laguna better because he doesn't care so fiercely about not caring. Then again, I always thought that Rufus was a vastly superior antagonist to Sephiroth, so maybe it's just a personal quirk of mine that I like the secondary an-/protagonist better than the primary one.
