Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?
Deadman replied to Deadman's topic in Writers' Corner
Well if you do a story about the villain of a Halloween/horror movie would kinda be that I imagine. Since in order for the villain of a horror movie to have a happy ending, they would have to take out a large number of people. -
Lol, well that wasn’t necessarily where I was going but I have done that in a story I recently posted. Which was actually inspired by another story that used a device like that. It’s a D/s situation and the female dom used it on their female sub. The dildo changes speeds based on what the dom wants.

Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

Oh I don’t know about that. There’s a fair amount of innocence, it just usually doesn’t last long on the website. Fun fact I’m currently in the process of writing about the destruction of innocence. Or some version of it anyway. Though in an ironic way. -
Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

It’s always the innocent looking ones who are the most devious. -
Obviously, yes. I suppose it’s also possible to be good for M/M encounters too, though I’m not personally that interested in such things. Part of why I asked is also F/F stories. Women would know how they can give each other multiple orgasms. Which is how it became a thought for me in this topic. If you have a group of women in a F/F context would seem like the perfect opportunity for such things.

I suppose that can also be fun.

Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that. It’s more about the impact that it has on readers. The number of times that people say “I really hope they end up together and have a happy ending” is kinda fun. So I tend to try and give people a little of what they’re after before taking it away from them. That’s part of what concerned me about prompted the original question. My story for like the last story was basically one negative turn of events after another. I sorta created an artificial happy ending. But the readers knew it was a false happiness. The main character had turned evil and was kinda “torturing” people even if they didn’t know they were being tortured. Which means I was “torturing” the audience. Or I thought I was anyway. -
Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

Yes, I have a habit of doing this too. Usually my characters are happy right before things go wrong and destroys their lives. -
That’s good for them. I’m sure the females on the receiving end of those benefits enjoy them.

Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

That can sound like fun. I’ve had tragic endings to stories, but not really nightmarish or having to live forever with suffering. I suppose technically my most recent story has an aspect of this, but through a multiverse perspective. -
Well even fictional women deserve to be fully satisfied. Plus, in my stories many of the characters are supernatural in nature, so they can handle more than the regular person. It would take more to leave them satisfied.

Yes, I totally get that. I don’t usually go in the erotica direction. But when I write more long form stories, usually a love story, I make a conscious effort to build up emotional and sexual tension, leading to only a single love making scene towards the end of the story. In sequels that might be less of a concern, but definitely in the first story there’s unresolved sexual tension.
-
Well I definitely do my best to have plot in my writing, even in stuff being put forward here. Recently looked this up because I was curious, I usually have at least 5-10 pages of plot before any actual sex happens between characters. Often times kinda outlining the story leading up to what’s about to happen. Why they’re in the situation they’re in, etc. In most cases, I have internal monologues people are having, either from a First POV or Third POV. So it’s usually pointing out how they feel as well. Good to know that there is a limit. I assumed as much, but wasn’t entirely sure. Probably part of why I tend to have only one orgasm per story for the main character. Though as I said, I try to make it mostly realistic.

Well in the context of the question, I’m mostly speaking of stories that would be posted here on this site. Which would be more close to straight up porn. I haven’t encountered too many stories on this site that have a lot of build up. Usually sex happens in multiple chapters, but often they are different sexual situations. But I’ve thought about my own writing where a female character is having sex with multiple partners. Partly I was wondering in terms of sexual performance. Most men get really tired after a single orgasm, but it usually takes a while to recover. So is it that way with women? Haven’t had the opportunity to actually test the theory in reality, but it wouldn’t make sense if a woman has the capacity to have multiple orgasms that you would get tired after the first one.

Curious how you define “dash of infinity”. As in the horrible ending goes on forever? -
I don’t have the physical attributes to actually do this type of thing if I wanted to. But I’m curious if this is something that people who do actually enjoy it? Or is this something that just gets put out there by people in writing and porn?

Would you post your stuff directly on social media?
Deadman replied to Deadman's topic in Writers' Corner
I totally get that. I started out that way but also things went weird in the early days of the internet where I accidentally put my real name out there. Yahoo Groups that no longer exists sometimes showed my real name. So I have generally put my stuff out under my real name. Though I generally don’t put it out on Facebook and other social media. Even my newsletter is under my real name but I only share it in groups but not on my main profile. Almost none of my friends or family is aware of what I’m doing, even under my real name. The few people who have discovered it, generally don’t share it anywhere. -

Technically, some people are doing that… like me. It might come as a surprise but… my name isn’t actually Deadman. While my non-erotic content is under my real name. -

Totally makes sense I suppose. Like I said, these people who post entire chapters feels weird. Because people won’t necessarily click through. After all, everything is right there. -

I’m not so much looking to do it. But it seems like more than a few other people are. I just don’t understand the desire to do it personally. I would prefer to get people to read it on a place that would give you better information. For instance, I have a newsletter that I write but republishing a recent piece directly on Facebook doesn’t make sense. I want people to read it in email/website. -

Yeah, probably pretty quickly although I know some of us write more long form story based fanfic too. In such a scenario, you could post that on Facebook. Which is what I was curious about. I just don't understand the need to post stuff like that directly on Facebook or any social media. Though you might actually be able to post this stuff on Twitter since they’re more relaxed about this stuff. Supposedly they have a new feature where you can create more long form content on the platform. -
Recently, I noticed a few people who are posting entire chapters of their fanfic directly on Facebook as a way to try and promote their work. Obviously these things aren’t necessarily for more adult content but it’s often the opening chapter. This seems really weird to me personally. So I’m curious what people do to promote their content. Either here or elsewhere.

Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?
Deadman replied to Deadman's topic in Writers' Corner
For sure, I was more using it as an example. The reason why I didn’t bring it up initially is because I was wondering if people tended to write happy endings because they’re more popular or if people tend to get turned off by tragic/not yet happy endings.
