  1. That could also be a lot of fun I can imagine.
  2. Certainly not crazy. In fact, you’ve given me some fun ideas for my own writing. I work in a fandom that has some magical stuff though I’ve mostly stayed away from adding magic to the smut I’ve been writing. Now I’m thinking about the idea of something crawling into someone. There’s actually a real example of this, though not for sex purposes, in the fandom. So thanks for giving me ideas.
  3. I was working on a fic and had some fun in a MFF threesome situation. There was a situation in which the two women are playfully “competing” with each other. Now I’m working on an FFF threesome scene and trying to figure out how not to repeat myself. Probably the biggest thing that I did in the MFF scene is sort’ve a “competitive” tribbing. Some other stuff but most of it wouldn’t apply to an FFF scene. Suggestions?
  4. Doing some writing involving some religious people and want to have some fun phrases to use as jokes between them. Any that stand out to you?
  5. Well I’m also sorta thinking in terms of deep fake videos. https://www.forbes.com/sites/danidiplacido/2023/04/25/avengers-director-joe-russo-has-a-bleak-vision-of-ai-generated-movies/ Apparently some people believe that movies will be entirely AI generated in a few years. But obviously, there’s also adult deepfakes where celebrities get put into sexual situations.
  6. People using the AI can be though.
  7. Recently came across this story about a singer who is open to sharing profits of AI deep fakes on music. https://www.forbes.com/sites/martineparis/2023/04/24/grimes-tells-fans-to-deepfake-drake-her-welcomes-collaboration-with-ai/ So now I’m wondering, are deep fakes fanfiction? Technically it’s presenting things that didn’t happen as real. Like an AU story that you can find on this site. Where do you come down on this?
  8. Well, I don’t plan on having anything too serious happen. Basically, a bunch of vampires are attacking a bus full of humans. The person who told the story happened to be naked at the time, ran out and fought off the vampires. The humans being saved are… very grateful.
  9. Hey everyone, So I’m trying to figure out a scene involving a woman fighting naked. It’s actually a story a character told in canon though there’s some uncertainty whether the character was telling the truth. But I’m taking it as real and sorta writing out the scene. Problem is I imagine there are some physical challenges to fighting naked. Curious to know what’s a good place to find information on how someone would do that. They’re fighting several supernatural opponents in hand to hand combat using martial arts. Suggestions?
  10. Third chapter is up, which is the one that inspired my previous post here about learning things later on. The chapter is called “Fantasy Camp”, so you can imagine what it’s about.
  11. Totally get it. I would love to have some of the writers who I grew up watching their shows to be writing on my TV show. It’s coming from the same basic place but I know it’s just as ridiculous as hoping they would write fanfic. There’s one fandom I love, The 100, where I read that the creator of the original books the TV show was based on actually wrote it originally as fanfic of two characters from Gossip Girl after the apocalypse. She then rewrote it as an original story in book form.
  12. Yeah, I understand that concern for sure. I’ve thought about it in regards to humans doing it. I know some creators aren’t fans of fanfic of their work when written by a human being. I can imagine the same would be true of AI, but the problem with an AI is that you’re going to have no one to necessarily go after. But I’m not necessarily as concerned about fanfic of my original work. I would prefer to have my own version on TV, which is where my original work is intended to go, but I’d be okay with having someone make fanfic based on the TV show.
  13. I totally get where you’re coming from, though I’m not sure I think the current legal framework is sufficient. But here’s an example of where I wonder how valid it is: https://www.pcgamer.com/one-of-bings-new-chatgpt-personalities-wrote-me-some-seriously-puggy-fanfic/ The second version comes across like a basic conception of how a Star Trek episode would really go. It’s very close to what some young fanfic writers might write.
  14. Well this is where you run into problems in the idea of AI. I’ve had this conversation a few times with people but it’s always interesting. If you read 6 books and it gives you an idea and you use the ideas to create your own idea, isn’t that the same as what AI is doing? Just mashing things together? You have movies and TV shows which have vampires and werewolves and a bunch of other things that they got from somewhere else. This is kinda what AI is doing in my view. At least that’s my view.
  15. Just curious if AFF has a policy on AI generated fanfic? Been hearing a lot of discussions lately about AI content and how much it’s moving forward these days. Some writers in the original space are talking about how they’re using AI to help them generate stories in various ways. I don’t see myself doing anything with AI myself but all the conversations have me curious about what I’m going to read on the site. Do writers here have a general view on it?
  16. Well the individual chapters are one shots so it doesn’t necessarily tell an overarching story. I’m not really bound by focusing on what makes sense for the overall story. It’s more about what happens in the individual one shots.
  17. Oh I totally get that feeling. My issue is that I don’t know how to sort the chapters. I have like 7 chapters figured out, each featuring at least one character, some which are more popular in the fandom than others. So I worry about having the most popular characters up front in the first few chapters. If I do that, I might get less interest in the later chapters. But if I put the less popular characters up front, it might be harder to get people to wait around for the final chapters featuring the popular characters.
  18. I can understand that. This thought that I’m having is in part a result of another question I asked previously about when to add characters in. I had a few people comment on my story Scooby Gang Time that they were looking forward to Willow being involved, and then within a few chapters I did include them and then reviews dropped off quite a bit. So I’m wondering if I should consult people who are fans of this other fandom.
  19. I’m working my way through the final chapters of a story and now planning out an entirely new one. But I don’t yet know how to put it out there. It’s another series of one shots and I’m trying to figure out which characters to put forward and in what order. I’ve figured out what will probably be chapter 1 but not sure about the others. So would you do a poll of your readers? If I put a poll out here, would you want to vote in it? Or should I just go with whatever works. In previous stories, I just added each one shot based on whatever ones I wrote first. Thoughts?
  20. So, I was looking for an old fic that I used to read fairly often because I enjoyed it. The fic disappeared and I didn’t have access to it anymore, so I had to find it in the web archive. Managed to find it but it got me curious about the fandom again. It’s a Wonder Woman fanfic and I’m more familiar with the character than the actual show it was a based on. In part I went down the rabbit hole learning about it because the only TV show I’m aware of featuring Wonder Woman was the Linda Carter one. Apparently that was what it was based on, because I found out one of the characters in the fic was only in the show for a couple episodes. As a result, I found out that the fanfic was based on those episodes. Which got me thinking, what have you learned about a fanfic you like to read that you didn’t know before?
  21. Oh I think it’ll be a long time before anything serious happens. But I have seen too many stories about robots taking over to not point out the potential downside. My favourite is the concept of “Perverse Instantiation”. It’s essentially the AI version of “Be careful what you wish for”.
  22. Yeah, I would probably be more interested in something that was based on a human writer. I think we’re more likely to see a lot of the “reboots” and “remakes” of old movies and TV shows are things we’re going to see first. Because it would be easier for a robot to recreate it. Pretty sure I saw a thing about how some AI created a new scene of MASH that some of the original actors read. That’s basically just fanfic with the actors giving it a more legal aspect to it.
  23. Doesn’t appear that they’re considering that: https://variety.com/2023/biz/news/writers-guild-artificial-intelligence-proposal-1235560927/ What is curious for me is whether or not it would feel the same to have a fandom I’m writing for being created an AI like ChatGPT. Not sure how I feel about that. I’d probably focus on fandoms that aren’t robot controlled.
  24. Yes but I heard that apparently writing via AI is going to be more available now. The Writers Guild of America just endorsed the idea that it would be okay to use AI like ChatGPT to write movies and TV shows so long as a human writer still gets credit. All of your future fandoms will be written by robots.
  25. Sounds interesting. Well, did you hear that ChatGPT apparently shut down around the world? That doesn’t sound anything like an AI thinking for itself, does it?
