  1. If you want to have a review and response thread, please create one in the appropriate subforum in the Fan Fiction part of the forum, found here: https://www2.adult-fanfiction.org/forum/forum/491-fan-fiction/ This forum is only for the promotion of stories and to announce new chapters being added. You can add a link to the review reply thread in the above post, once you have created one. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  2. Of course you can use my stories, BronxWench not a problem.
  3. No worries, we banter, and do try our best to not be stabby with the newbies And I do try my best to answer questions as best I can too
  4. don’t tempt me, I can get stabby when feeling generally unwell
  5. I never put the 10 line thing in the FAQ because it only applies to the Challenges and Requests forum, since that’s where we’ve had the largest issue with people posting story content. On the rare occasions it has popped up in the Fan Fiction forum, I’ve just quietly edited the posts to comply to the ten lines rule, and left a post telling people that we don’t allow story content in the forum. Because we don’t allow story content in the forums. It’s first and foremost a copyright issue, and then as BronxWench pointed out, the forums are supposed to be a place for us to chat, bitch and moan, drum up support for writers and be a community. The only reason I allowed it in the Promote a Story forum was to be nice because of the Read Only mode having been going on for so long. And as I said above, I will be rescinding that rule as soon as we’re back up and running. And it doesn’t matter at all from where in the story those ten lines come from. Not at all. As for me obviously not having read your original question properly this morning (I claim lack of morning caffeine and general unwellness) the Promote a Story forum is exactly the place to post all the details you want about your story. There is a standard form to include in the first post in that forum, but in addition to that standard form, you can include whatever you want about the story, as long as it isn’t purely story content. So, go nuts, put in a chapter by chapter detailed description if you want to. That means something like the following: ”Chapter 4. Jack and Jill fight over who gets to carry the bucket up the hill, Jill has a mean right hook and Jack learns that getting falsies is a fucking pain in the ass, but at least it’s less expensive than the new glass eye he’s going to need.” But NOT the following: ”Chapter 4. [The actual story content describing the ridiculousness above].” Does that make sense?
  6. I may be in need of my morning caffeine, but I’m not sure I get what you mean by “details”. If you mean something like a book cover blurb, which don’t contain any actual story content, then I think 10 to 15 lines of text should be ok, but then ONLY in the Promote a story forum (in the thread for your story) or the Great Wall. But if you mean something that contains story content, then like BronxWench said, it’s restricted to 10 lines or less. I only allowed the 35 lines of text for a preview in the Promote a Story forum because we’ve been in Read Only mode for so long, and I wanted to allow our writers a little bit of a leeway. But as soon as the Archives are back out of Read Only mode, that allowance will be rescinded and the posts containing story content in the Promote a Story forum will be cut down to the allowed 10 lines.
  7. Melrick will delete the new account when he does the approval queue, I’m sure, since we only allow one account per user, but thank you for letting us know about it. There are some areas of the Forum that are only visible to users who are logged into their accounts, such as the PlayPen, and a few other parts. But most of the Forum is open to guest users, like the Archive and Forum tech support ones. But if you can’t use the forum for any reason, you can always reach the Archive staff on the staff email, and then they’ll tell us forum staff if it’s got something to do with the forum. I don’t have access to the staff email myself, but the head staff do, and they would let me know if a user emails about anything concerning the forum. But we’ll hopefully have an answer for you tomorrow afternoon, since we have to wait for the last of our staff for the final decision.
  8. As I said in my earlier post, there are grounds for lifting the ban as originally intended. We’re just all on different time zones, so we’ll have to wait for the final word from the forum admin before we make our final decision. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  9. Going back through our records it appears that the ban was turned into a permanent ban, but there is a possibility that there are grounds for lifting the ban on your profile. However, I cannot make that decision on my own, so I will have to ask the forum admin and the other staff for their input before a final decision can be made. As for the warning point, that is permanent, due to the behaviour that got you banned three months ago. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  10. Thank you, Ellie, for letting us know how it worked for you! We greatly appreciate the input. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  11. The archive is still in read only mode so you can’t post new chapters or stories. At the moment we are working on verifying user accounts as a first step towards reopening the site, so bear with us a little longer. Willow Darkling, forum moderator
  12. If you had an older account, and used the same email address to register a new account, BronxWench has merged and purged that. She went through some thousands of duplicate accounts by herself, with the help of George Glass, to merge and purge.
  13. Manta said that the emails are getting sent out based on registration date, so if you’re new-ish you’d be near the bottom of the list, but hopefully you’ll get it soon and won’t have a problem with activating and resetting. Just read the instructions BronxWench has been posting in response to users having a problem, but let us know here if the instructions don’t work for you.
  14. I left this post in Hall of Shame because I thought it was a good place where people would actually see it, clicking on it out of curiosity. But it’s moved now. Hope this is a more appropriate place for it. So, that’s on me, not on George.
  15. That link just goes to the front page of the Archives, we need the URL to your members profile, please.
  16. le sigh... Love me some good and well done magical realism… Decided to give the show “Raising Dion” a chance. Got into it, like it, actually quite like it… then watch seven year old with superpowers break into super secret lab to find a bunch of animals that would be exotic in the eyes of a little black kid in the middle of Atlanta, and he goes
”Wow, where do all these animals come from?”
Godfather-mentor-sidekick: “They come from Iceland...” while staring at a pair of sheep in a glass cage.
Me…: “OOooh, yeah, no, they don’t, buddy, those are not Icelandic, and that horse sure as shit ain’t either.”
    Magical realism utterly shattered...

My first reaction was shared disappointment as above.  My second reaction was to try hiring Ste7en Foster to redo the audio track—never mind that the show is real-life instead of anime, and that hearing-impaired viewers would become intensely confused since unlike anime lip-flaps, you can read lips in real-life film and video.  My third reaction was that some Icelandic rancher must be pissed that some magical ne’er-do-well has stolen all his animals, and that “Gramps” is either a “Dionverse” Auror or in on it.  Oh, well...

  17. OH! I’m obviously working off some very old memory then Or was it Story ID’s that aren’t unique across the Archives?
  18. We need the url to your profile url in the Archive, the user IDs are not unique across the Archive if I remember correctly.
  19. No, the Archives are still in read only mode so users cannot upload their stories at this time. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  20. We don’t allow previews generally. The ten line rule was implemented for the Challenges and Requests forum, because we had a bout of users posting “examples” or parts of whole chapters for the challenges they were issuing or writing for. And by line I generally mean the amount of text that fits in the text box from left to right. As in, the text that I have put here so far is now “two lines and a half”. But I decided to allow for the time being, while we are still in Read Only mode, previews in the Promote a Story forum as well, with the cut off being 35 lines. This was only allowed to let our users give their readers something to look forward to, really, while we are waiting for the Archives to be back up and running. As soon as users can start posting on the Archives again, I will disallow story content in the Forums again. And story content is not allowed anywhere else in the forum, save for those ten lines in the C&R forum. And it can be from wherever you want, beginning, middle or end of your story. Just think of it as a teaser trailer, if that makes sense. Just anything you want that you think might make your readers happy, or keep them excited for the rest of your writing. Willow Darkling, forum moderator.
  21. Thank you both so much for the donations. We greatly appreciate the help.

  24. Thank you so much for that, Donkingkong. I know that before all of these attacks we had a donation link in the Archives, and all donations went towards hosting costs and such things. But I don’t know what the status of that is at the moment. We’ll have to ask @DemonGoddess or @manta2g or @BronxWench about that, I’m afraid. But I am certain, whether it be now, or after we’re back up and running, all donations would be so greatly appreciated. We’re all volunteers here, so all donations go towards the site in full. We do not get paid for maintaining the site.
