  1. Are any of you familiar with a podcast series called Friday Night Fanfiction? Basically, they find bad fanfic and read it aloud as a sort of drinking game. Anyone who trips on a word, laughs, or otherwise interrupts their reading has to drink. So imagine my surprise to hear total strangers reading my story “Rated F: A Phineas and Ferb Sex Comedy” aloud! They did a lot of goofily inappropriate voices and accents and such (although I liked hearing Buford’s lines in the voice of Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force), but I actually found a lot of it really funny. And it was gratifying that even though they all had a problem with the notion of an explicit sex story about preteen cartoon characters--which was the reason they chose it to read on the show--a lot of them liked the story anyway. (As one of them said, “I want to stay mad at this, but I just can’t.”) Ultimately, I think my reaction to their reading was the same as their reaction to my story: I kept thinking that I should be offended by it, but it was so funny that I didn’t care. In fact, I felt kind of flattered by it, kind of the way some musicians do when they find out that Weird Al Yankovic has parodied one of their songs. And what was especially flattering is that they picked one of my stories instead of something from JayDee.

  3. I think any time people have fun with fanfic is a good thing! I loved the heck out of the old Topless Robot fanfiction Friday reviews, and some of the old Godawful Fan Fiction reviewers - this sort of thing too! Where it's less good is where you get someone who isn't all that funny who, say, quotes an entire story and doesn't have much to say about it beyond "Gosh, I don't like this, they should stop writing!" Glad you got a kick out of the podcast! Well, Bad Fanfiction Theatre already did me - http://badfanfictheater.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/spyro-legend-of-spyros-death.html (The story that got the "This actually made me ill..." review)

  4. Oh no! You of all people should not be encouraging this type of madness! I was counting on you to come back with something like "It was an absolute mess. Hard to read and the bit about the anal cervix made me gag!". How could you BronxWench. *shakes head and goes back to writing the follow up New Year's story while plotting out Peter O'Hare's return for an Easter story* See what you've done! On a serious note, glad I could make you giggle and I got dibs on Comet!

  6. Instead of Sasuke servieing the death of the Uchiha clan what if it was a female Sasuke and her mother Mikoto? What if Mikoto after servieing the death of her clan realize she has a duty to restore it? things that I wont to see At least one seen where Mikoto sets Sasuke up on a date and orders her to sleep with her date. Mikoto using the chuin exams as an opertunty to sleep with powerful ninja.

  7. Auld Lang Syne Another sweet and lovely story! I can actually empathize a great deal with Jamila and that awful sense of holiday blahs. Sometimes all the enforced merriment is enough to make me want to hide on a cold porch, too. But let me tell you what I loved about this story. You took a kiss and turned it into this utterly wonderful, sweet awakening, and even though they didn't manage to get past the kiss (not for lack of desire, mind you!), it was still a beautiful consummation of new feelings. A new year is a beginning, and Jamila and Cory are definitely beginning something special. Thank you for this treat of a story! And thank you, KoKoa, for the lovely review. I really was always intrigued by the way the Holly King and Oak King change places at the Solstices, and being me, I had to poke it. I'm sure the gods will kick my butt at some point for this one, but it was too good to pass up. I'm glad Derwen's heartache came through. I thought it made more sense to have him be the one who had gotten sick of the endless cycle, although he presides over the winter months as well.

  8. Thanks to KoKoa_B and BronxWench for the reviews so far. Yeah, I was having to write that as backstory for the current book/story I'm working on, so it wasn't much to polish it off and make it one of my holiday one-shots.

  9. The Frost Effect Great! Nice and lighthearted. Yule's Gift Deep, rich. Good reading.

  10. I'll start it off! The Frost Effect I absolutely loved this story, KoKoa! I love your Frost, and Kris is pretty damned hot, too. And there's nothing like a little romance in the air to make the holiday season bright. You have such a lovely way of making me see the scene, too, and that's a marvelous gift. Mistletoe Hanging And on the opposite end of the spectrum, wow, Des! Very powerful story. It begins with such a sweet and familiar premise, a winter holiday dance, and then, wham! Your world erupts in the sort of conflict you excel at portraying. Beautifully done!

  11. Oh, but George is a wonderful writer! JayDee is as well, actually. I'd love to see JayDee on a podcast.

  12. Awesome! I'm not familiar with the podcast, but that is actually very cool to have been picked. We'll just have to hope they find a JayDee fic to read soon.
