Well, due to work, I haven’t gotten any work done, and we’re down to five days counting today.

But if what Invidia and George said is true, and you all are ok with this even if it’s a week late or something, let’s see what I can get done quickly!

*opens word processor*

Yes, sadly I’m not going to be able to put anything up this year. Probably next year.

I had ideas… but I didn’t want to restrain any to being a oneshot, and the potter fanfic wanted attention.

Yes, That tends to happen sometimes. My own threatens to take more attention than it should.

For sure, my short one shot ideas always end up becoming longer stories whether I want them to or not.

Well, as you all know, I was able to make progress on The Lake House, but not to finish it by a week after Halloween.  This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, because I was struggling with how to integrate the theme of the piece into the ending, and it wasn’t until after the deadline had passed that I realized how I might be able to use it.  So the extra time will (hopefully) lead to a better end product when it’s finally completed.

I’ll keep working on The Lake House, and will either post it when it’s finished or throw it into the ring next Halloween season (fingers crossed that things are still stable for me next Halloween).  In the meantime, I’m working on Meaningful Gifts again and have left reviews for both Invidia’s and George’s chapters of the Halloween story.  I’ll read BW’s chapter on break at work tomorrow!

Alright, that took longer than I’d expected.  Invidia also has my apologies if there are a million notifications for a review, because I kept trying to fix a problem with the review of BW’s story, which meant deleting the review and resubmitting it.

I put emphasis on “trying” because ultimately, the site seemed insistent upon crunching the entire review into a single block of text, removing all the spaces between paragraphs.  I am sorry for how much of a pain that is to read, as it was not my intention. 😅

It’s a wonderful review—thank you! :thankyou:

After getting a chunk of writing done, took a break to read the stories and poem in the collection. Left reviews for @InvidiaRed @GeorgeGlass and @BronxWench since I don’t think you get notifications on chapters.

But no review for @InBrightestDay because The Lake House didn’t get finished. “If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?” 😛 I kid, I kid, I will read and review it when you get it finished!

Hey, while I’m here, can anybody remember – if we had a story in one of the holiday collections at some point, was there any rule against re-posting it to our own profile while it was still there, or would that be afoul of some duplication rule and we’d need to delete our chapter before re-posting to our own?

Asking for a me, who should know better.*

Jaydee.

*I really did know this shit once.**

I should actually know this myself, but to be honest, I’m not sure, so I’m going to defer to The Ultimate Authority, @DemonGoddess to give us a ruling.

Now, personally, given that I do have a few holiday chapters floating around, I would love to be able to cross-post them to my profile as well. There’s one or two I’m quite pleased with, and I wouldn’t mind them getting a marginally wider audience. But I’ll go with whatever DG rules on this one.

In my case, I created a master listing at the top of my review thread here in the forums; links to my stories/oneshots in the archive.  That’s an option too, but yeah, it’d be nice to have links from our profiles too.

Yep, basically. I remember some of the one shots ended up getting sequels – I think mine re-used characters – but were all generally self contained.

Great then, thank you for the ruling :)
