  1. on my way to kill the reviews
  2. here's the thing. If you get something like that in your story, and it's not someone you also see here in the forum as a listed mod, then they are not a moderator. If that happens to you, PLEASE let me know, as they would obviously be misrepresenting themselves in an effort to cause you or another member problems.
  3. What you have are a bunch of politicians blowing hot air like they always have done. As far as the mainstream news goes, they haven't done REAL reporting on this crap for quite a few years now if you think about it. Brings to mind past history and yellow journalism, ya know? What's really sad, is when all this started, I found myself surfing for news reports from outside the country, because I kinda figured we weren't being given anything but what ever it was they wanted us to hear. What made me angry then, and still does, is that it turned out I got more accurate news from outside of the country, then from our normal news sources.
  4. Let's hope 3rd time's the charm... Needless to say, I've deleted this one again
  5. All I can do is what I just did, which was to search all the review tables for the both the anonymous and logged in reviews from this person, and delete them.
  6. was a spammer actually. This person did this both anonymously and logged in. All reviews from the user have been deleted so far as I know.
  7. the spammer targeted primarily the anime, buffy, and inu sub directories, and only a part of the hp subdirectory. Deleted all 2000+ reviews.
  8. So you are aware, there are only a few of us, and literally hundreds of stories we look at each and every day. So, why would you insist we make a task that is time consuming to begin with, more so? You, and everyone else, will continue to get the reviews if there's a problem. You're certainly not being singled out. Using the reviews is the quickest and most efficient way we currently have to do this.
  9. Well, we have our anonymous spammer who likes to leave very large reviews of nothing to stories back in action. If any of you are experiencing problems with your review boards (won't load) because of this, please click this topic link, and reply to it with a link to your story. I'll get them cleaned up.
  10. so far, that's where we've gotten reports of this anon spammer from today.
  11. The story is hidden until you correct your disclaimer. I know that you were reviewed to tell you what was wrong with it. You might want to read the FAQ here in forum about disclaimers as well.
  12. You contact me. Also, if you notice, the story is still accessible in your user panel. Just not open for view.
  13. mod list That shows most everybody. Thing is, with the forum, there's no way to for me to make a separate listing just to show the archive mods, or it'd be there too. Most of the listed forum moderators actually are not forum mods at all, but archive mods. Only a few of them do both. Thing is, there used to be a time where the stuff the archive mods did was set up and handled through a yahoo group. We've discontinued that, and everyone now is here in forum. If they're not registered in the forum, you can bet they're NOT archive mods at all.
  14. I'll do what I can for you, as I'm sure any other mod would here. Maybe if the mail comes from another site's moderator(s) and/or admin, as WELL as the affected user, it'll make them pay more attention to your mail. It's worth a try, at any rate.
  15. Actually Ez if you look underneath your forum profile it still states cleanup crew (which you're still part of), and if you look in the board listing for moderators, you are listed with the other archive mods as well. No, we don't currently have a way to make an auto-adjustment to a moderator to make them known in the archive, as that was never a part of the software. However, all the current mods have had no issue with being open about their moderator status. In fact, they're ENCOURAGED to be open about it. After all, it's easier to contact someone if you know who to contact, rather than having mods who make ghost memberships, and hide who they are. If I'm finding I have to make one of those reviews, I WANT people to be able to get in touch with me if they need to. For that matter, I encourage the same for other things as well, such as tech support for either application. Going back to the original question, yes, there has already been discussion on how to denote the users who are also moderators in the archive, so that users can see that as a glance. For that matter, should a user question whether or not someone who's saying something to them is in fact a mod, all they have to do is ask me, or any other of the listed archive mods. Who was the author asking for help? If they misplaced a story, that's a simple fix for the most part as well. If it's in the same subdomain, they edit the story properties. If it's not, delete it and add it to the right subdomain.
  16. it's actually a simple fix, and I'll get to it after some sleep before I go to work tonight. What happens sometimes, is that a user, when registerising will refresh their registration page and accidentally create a second login. This means the details are identical, so the db will stop on the first one it finds, which would be the newest one. What I'll do is search the db directly, and delete the duplicate after verifying which one has the story data attached.

  19. not a prob, it'll get fixed.
  20. honestly, folklore is something different than a compilation of fairy tales, or original fairy tales that have been published. I'm thinking that would have to be it's own category.
  21. Well, the bulk of 'em died when I deleted those sub categories. However, there are still enough of 'em floating around in there, OLD ones, that those won't actually be deleted 'til we get to the subdomain for sorting and repair. But, if you've the free time, you could do like vamiredarkgirl did with many hp sections. She looked and found bunches of 'em, put 'em up, and I deleted them all.
  22. in the user panel, where you're trying to select the subdomain you want, you must press the "go" button to go there. Once you do that, you'll notice in your browser address bar that you're no longer in the anime subdomain, but in the final fantasy subdomain.
  23. I could potentially make a fairy tales sub category, and then under IT, I could put things like Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, and etc. That would make more sense I think in the long term, with the ability for unlimited sub levelling I will have.
  24. What was missing was the SPECIFIC FANDOM concerned. As the story is in a multi fandom sub domain, that becomes even more important. When you have 250+ different titles, as are in anime, "I do not own the characters" is plainly not specific enough at all. Which characters? Which fandom? This topic explains an additional task being done in the multiple fandom sub domains first, followed by ALL the rest. It's obvious you really do NOT understand the magnitude of the task for the older stories, or indeed just what is involved in keeping things correct where new and updated stories are being checked. We're looking at 100,000 +/- altogether across TWENTY ONE sub domains in total. Before you even THINK to mention it, NO, am not giving everyone direct database access to speed up what I'm doing with the older stories by running that query. As an example of man hours I PERSONALLY put into all the different aspects of things I do for the site (moderation, clean up project, and etc) in the last three days I've worked 35 hours. I managed that many because I was OFF work. On my work days, I work on average 6 hours. Every day. I actually give myself one day about every 2 months or so away from all that, but still check email and go through the forum queue. So, again, you can choose to remain stubborn, and not correct as we asked you to, and follow the very simple rules you agreed to upon signing up to even use the site in the first place. Or, you can comply. Not so hard, and certainly not worth arguing over. I, for one, have better and more productive things to do with my time than argue with you.
