  2. Users are given MORE than adequate time to correct any problems before any deletion action is taken. It's averaging 40 days. 7 to 10 after initial warn, then another 30, often more before deletion. Users are EMAILED when the story is hidden. So, not only have they been given a review telling them what the issue is, they're also told when the story is hidden, and that they still need to fix it. What you, and others don't seem to want to see, is we have to have the disclaimers for legal purposes. They have to be more exact than "don't own, don't sue", which we see often, by the way. Yes, people argue with us on the protections this may or may not give you or the site all the time. It actually does help a good deal. By having this where we require proper disclaimers (which is not new and has been an ongoing RULE of the site for many years), it makes it so worst case scenario so far has been C&D and downing of stories associated with the C&D. No having to release user information, or anything of that nature. So in the end, it's the site that's affected more than any of you, by us enforcing, in that we lose stories with a C&D. That was inserted in to the code some years ago, but was too vague in the multi fandom subdomains. Not only that, the dropdowns were usually ignored ANYWAY. We do have examples throughout the forum in the fanfiction section. Not only that, it screwed with the scripting and made for instabilities, and vulnerabilities WITHIN the script. I'd much rather have things more stable, and lessen vulnerabilities. That cuts down on hacking potential. This was also REMOVED some years ago (before I came on board, or manta2g came back), and neither of us have found something that'll work without too much in the way of vulnerabilites. As to editing, you have to be sure you're in the correct subdomain. For example, if you story is added to bleach, and you just open up a window to the archive, it defaults to anime. So you won't see your story listed. That's what the jump menu in your user panel is for, and what the menus across the top of the archive are for. To navigate to the proper subdomain. Once you navigate to the correct subdomain, where your story actually is, then you'll see it in your author panel. At that point, you edit the story details. Finally, everything you mentioned is in the FAQ section.
  3. Comics top level is everything BUT DC Universe stuff. All DC 'Verse stuff is going in to that top level category and etc. The xmen subdomain is having all the Marvel 'Verse moved to there. You have to understand that when these subdomains were set up, it was ...haphazard. I'm being KIND by saying it THAT way. So, it's getting organized in a fashion which will make sense as it happens.
  4. We do check to make sure that the person registering for the forum is the same as the person in the archive. We've had too many instances in the past where an underager comes in and links to an adult's profile. That's why if we cannot confirm the match between the two accounts, it gets deleted
  5. Nuk, email tech support with as much information as you can remember pls
  6. What browser did you use on that machine, and what browser are you using on your current machine? It could be something very simple on the other, and addressable.
  7. added
  8. I'm going to state VERY LOUDLY here, what is posted so very clearly above this forum. This forum is for technical support. NOT disclaimer issues. This topic is closed. Any further topics of this nature which are not tech support, as stated above in the forum header, will be deleted, not answered.
  9. They were actually, with very little exception, exact copies of her GW stories. If I could've found variation, moreso than a name change, they would've been allowed to stay.
  10. If you opted to give this person permission to add to the story, and they decided to add it here as well, we do have a procedure for that. I get an email from you, the original author stating permission is given to take it over, as well as an email from the author ADOPTING the story, so I know what profile it needs to go to. Because the next step is to move the story to the author's profile, leaving the original author in place as author on the chapters already existing. But, by moving the story to the new author's profile, they can add to it, edit, and etc from that point forward.
  11. If this is the author you're talking about, she's got many stories here. If there were some permanently deleted, that would be because she simply changed a fanfiction where the character names were changed to OC and put it in original, which we DO NOT allow.
  12. LOL sorry, typo corrected

  14. It'll happen when we get there for the sort.
  15. Once you click preview story, the next step is to click publish. I just tested the subdomain, and it's all working.
  16. thanks! What I do with new loads uploaded to the wrong subdomain is to delete them.
  17. Cal, can you give me a specific topic and where it's located? That way I can see what's going on. If it's a forum issue, a browser issue for you, or what it could be. But, without more information, I'm stuck.
  18. Both are toast
  19. Forum and archive are two separate applications, so yes, you have to have a login for each, if you want to use them both to the fullest extent you're able to
  20. It was actually misplaced, so I deleted both of 'em. Plus, the first "chapter" wasn't. It was an AN. And that's ALL that was there.
  21. I would suggest starting a topic for your own stories, per fandom. In other words, you have, say, twilight fics you want to adopt out, you post that in books, for naruto, here, as you've done. And so on down the line. You could even go per story if you want. Kind of up to you for that. As far as plagiarism goes, I don't CARE if it's not a published book or something. If it's your work, and it's been stolen (and it's been done here), I want to know that. We have a ZERO tolerance for plagiarism.
  22. Authors could actually post their stories up for adoptions here, in the fan fiction forums (much like you have with this post), for stories that are here to begin with. Sure would save us a whole lot of headache in tracking people down to verify....LOL
  23. Yep, the story is hidden. What you need to do, is to edit it in your user cp. Make sure that you're in the books subdomain, or it will not show up in your list. To do this, select books from the jump menu and click go.
  24. The other thing to bear in mind, is that the archive defaults to the anime subdomain. So, you do need to use the jump menu (located on the left hand side of the user cp) to nav to the subdomain where your story is posted, if it's not in anime.
