Registration and login- Starting approximately mid December of this year, how a user registers and signs in to the archive will be changing. This will be done by using your email address to sign in to the archive. The email address field will be set to unique, and the new registrations will be sent a validation email to finish registering. For changing email addresses, current users will also be sent a validation email. As these kinds of emails are generated by a php script, please do be sure to check spam/junk folders for them. Passwords will be encrypted, so one will have to use the utility to retrieve/reset a password from the archive. Staff will no longer be able to retrieve password information for users once this is done. Allowed Characters in login AND pen names- a-z A-Z 0-9 ' - (dash or minus sign) _ (underscore) Using anything other than these characters will make it so the name is not usable. So, if you are right now, please change your pen name before December, to get rid of the illegal characters. Duplicate registrations- As registration will be governed by email address, what's going to happen, is if you have multiple accounts, you won't be able to login until I merge those accounts. So please, if you know you have more than one, contact me at technicalsupport@adult-fanfiction.org with links to all profiles. This way, you do not lose your data. It's merged in to the account you wish to keep. Search engine upgrade- As you all know, we upgraded the core for search some time ago. However, with the age of the script, and the fact that the bulk of it is still php3, we cannot implement it in the current script. It crashes everything. Script overhaul- I'll go in to details for this probably next month. We expect to launch sometime in January, after we test it out and make sure we won't be crashing anything. There are many new features which I'm quite sure will make everyone happy.

This was done about 10 days ago now. What it did, was fix many issues after the upgrade to 3.2. Scorekeeping works again in the arcade, for example. As a result of the 3.2 major upgrade, there were also many other things which weren't working quite right. Updated the modules that I've installed, so that they all now work the way they're intended to work. Updated skins with skin packs which are designed to work with this version of the board.

Sometimes I think some are chosen for this particular form of "love" at random. Annoying as hell, though, isn't it? Got the PM, will get this straightened out in a bit.

As I said before, with this feature being completely anonymous, the unfortunate side effect is that if for some reason, however stupid it may seem to rest of US (as it generally does), if a person can't get to someone in any other way they've tried, they go for this. The most common reason I've seen, is because a writer writes a particular pair, and since the ones who would've started flaming all the stories for the pair have learnt that they pull that, I'll delete 'em, they use this as a harassment option, going after authors and all their stories. Like I said, stupid reason, but the most common one for this sort of behavior. Send me a pm please or I will forget to look at 'em all again for you.

Point one - one of our clean up crew found this and reported it before anyone else. Point two- I emailed the original author this morning to be sure it wasn't her, as I had mistakenly Hall of Shamed someone a few months back because I could not tie the profiles together. Lesson was learned, and I am even more careful. Point three - as this is something that is not only against ToS, but something that ends up in the Hall of Shame, it had to wait until I got home from work, because part of what I do for this requires being able to modify in the database itself.
