Although if it's not for a rewrite of some sort, and you just want it hidden, pm me with links and whatnot.

Before, we didn't have a rich text editor. Simply a plain text editing field, where if you wanted to add formatting, you used html tags. Now, you c/p your text, and format it within the text box, if it's plain text. As I said, if you're using a word processor, you won't generally have to do anything at all, other than inserting the text from your document in to the window that pops up. With earlier versions of Word, there seems to be an issue with translating the page settings. OO doesn't have this issue. Now, if you have your Word doc set to where it's supposed to add a line after a paragraph, and you add an additional line via carriage return (enter key), you will get another empty line.

It's a rich text editor, actually. Because of how it works, once data is added, you have to publish before editing. As to going back to the old editor and file type uploads, only text uploads are allowed. Html uploads were disallowed as they were a direct injection in to the database, which is a huge security risk for any database. This link tells you how to fix glitches in your chapter data, from before this was added, due to word exported to html. Without knowing which which word processor you're using, I can't really say what you need to do as far as copy/pasting at this point. For example, if you use Word or Open Office, you want to use "paste form Word" as the option. This brings up a pop up, you paste the selected text, and all your formatting is retained. This does not read a raw html file for copy/paste. If you're using WordPad, this link will tell you what else you need to do. There are some quirks with earlier versions of Word, and Works files don't copy/paste

You're right, the link needs edited

Some authors have a twitter account where they post updates, and we've made it so there is a link to that, should the author want to add it. Others have email lists for their readers. Really, it depends upon the individual author.

Editing a Disclaimer on a hidden story
DemonGoddess replied to ChrisCross's topic in Archive Tech Support
You need to edit in the story details, not the chapter data. Edit the disclaimer in the field provided for it. -
If this is regarding a disclaimer issue, the topic doesn't belong in this forum, but this one here.

Uchicha_Red, if you're trying to upload a file direct, the only file type accepted is .txt. Otherwise, copy/paste in to the chapter window. We use a rich text editor for that, so if it's a Word or Open Office document, click "paste from word", insert your text, and your formatting is preserved. If at initial story add, you don't get the recaptcha right, your story WILL NOT load.

Without knowing an author name, I can't look and tell you if there was moderation action involved or not. I think it's likely NOT, however, if the story was up yesterday, and disappeared today. I say that, because nothing was hidden that I know of yesterday or today, and the title isn't ringing any bells for me for deletion, as I'm the person who deletes the stories that need it, most of the time.

yet another old deletion, without killing the stories first

The question I couldn't see where else to put it...
DemonGoddess replied to JayDee's topic in General Staff Questions
Very likely. But that's okay. You can post the link in your story to the original art ya know. -
This forum is used so infrequently, that's probably a good idea

The question I couldn't see where else to put it...
DemonGoddess replied to JayDee's topic in General Staff Questions
As long as you get the artist's permission and credit it properly, I don't see why you'd have to ask the person who commissioned the work. After all, you got perms from the person who created the art. -
Forum for asking moderator/admin staff general questions?

LOL. I can probably add one to the section where people report and such. -
The formats we look for, for original works are here. Just copy/paste in to the field, depending upon if it's fiction, non fiction or poetry. There are examples for each type of story.

That would be because you are not yet 18 years old. The site is clearly labeled as being restricted to users in age 18 or above. We'll be happy to have you here, once you've reached the proper age. On that note, I'd also like to remind you that you CANNOT charge for fanfiction. Not here, not anywhere. That is the quickest way to get any given site in to a whole lot of trouble.

It just means google updated their blacklist and removed us. This is a GOOD thing.
