I can't find a reference where it was a staff removal, which means the author removed it. I see that often enough where an author takes something down to rework it. As the story was in originals, if the author is also published, and converted it in to work for publication, that's actually one of the more common reasons I've seen FOR an original fiction to be removed by an author, in those circumstance.

Hell, time permitting I still prefer to hang out my clothes to dry.

Nope, still no chapter search. With a database that's 8GB, and that mostly chapter data, that would be too much of a strain on the database itself, and slow things down tremendously. You'll be able to search members, story summaries and titles. The reason search with google does not work is because of the age verification form. What we've done for now, is relocated it, so when you first visit, it shows up when you click a chapter. That way, this should hopefully open things up for the indexers to work more effectively within the archive. Given that the database and archive is split, when wanting to search an original story, you need to be in the original subdomain for that search. Same for any other of them.

Wow! Lovely to hear from one of the earliest site members! Thank you!

If we still allowed the html upload, that would be handy. But, we've got CKEditor integrated and it imports the word files via copy/paste in a popup and parses out the garbage while retaining the formatting.

That applies to only if we ask you for it. When we ask someone to provide proof of age, we also give them a time frame to work within, and go from there.

Unable to get to Aff.net to read stories...
DemonGoddess replied to jljaina's topic in General Staff Questions
The redirect is to the central index. Sounds like you need to clear your browser to reset the cookies, as this page is a cookie setter, without the form. -
Asking if Im over 18 every time i change fandoms
DemonGoddess replied to a topic in Archive Tech Support
In preparing for the eventuality of discontinuing the birthdate verifier, which interferes with the search engine crawlers, this is something I added late Wednesday. We do still have to have something at point of entry, but this was done so that the crawlers can actually access things in the archive itself, instead of just seeing the form. You only have to set the cookie once every 30 days, per subdomain. If you only visit 2 subdomains, that's 2 cookies set, as an example. -
I expect we'll be addressing that particular deficiency of the current script in the upcoming months. I'm hesitant to tinker with it to allow for the ssl link, as I'm unsure how the old protocols will deal with that and whether or not it'll parse correctly. I suspect that is very likely why it's not set to allow for ssl linking at the present time.

Category request: Game of Thrones
DemonGoddess replied to Mirrimaz's topic in Archive Category requests
If she's based it on the tv series, this needs added. Added. Also, as I know why the req is being made, once you re-add your stories to here, can you let me know, and leave the others up until I merge over hits, rates and any reviews? -

Okay, we've done a slight workaround. Now, due to the size of the db itself, crawling chapter data is really not a good thing for us. However, when the form is triggered has been moved to the first time a user is trying to look at a chapter. This then sets the cookie, just like it did when trying to access anything at all. We've replaced that with a simple cookie, which has no forms in it, and is set by clicking a link. The downside to this particular cookie, is it must be set per subdomain. It does last for 30 days, so only needs to be done once a month. Not a big deal, really. It still covers the site by clearly stating the age requirements needed to access, which is important. Hopefully within the next week, we'll see different results from the crawlers, where they can index the members, the story listings, and etc. Just not the chapter content.

no, they're still all where they're supposed to be. Here.

I just moved that category yesterday, so that story can stay for me to move
