  1. Well, that was good! And now, back to writing Elrond & Co again. *swaps contact lenses to glasses*

Ah, glad the show was good! :D

It was brilliant, and my brain got at least two hours off the muse going on with: "Hey, you! Write more! Write faster! Write this, look!" Don't know where it's all coming from.

  2. And a new chapter is up! I'm feeling very accomplished lately, and I am loving working on this again. If you read: enjoy!
  3. Thank you so much! This review has cheered me on a bad day with a very poorly dog. *cuddles Jake* The moment of the flashback to THAT argument draws closer. But first, quite a bit of dominant!Elrond to play with. I think the dynamic will work, but I've begun deliberately gentle. Elrond will settle into it, and I'm sure Thranduil will enjoy every single second. He's been wanting this for, well, ever. Poor sod. He's not the only one... *sighs happily* More than anything, I'm glad it reads so smoothly. Thank you for saying so
  4. And another. I don't know why, but I'm being compelled to spend my days writing, and it feels great Enjoy! This is deliberately light. No doubt Elrond is going to return with Thranduil. That's where the toys are. And Legolas, of course... Elrond is going to be extremely busy. Again. Oropher is probably laughing his head off somewhere.
  5. Yay! My ticket has come. I am off to see "Waiting for Godot" at the theatre on Saturday night. I love Beckett. :)

*giggles* I swear you are completely wasted on a world like this.

  6. Thank you so much for this review too lol @ elves' subtlety. I think Thranduil believed a letter would be a cold way to give the news. Also, once Legolas had realised something was wrong, he couldn't have trusted him not to read. They're very formal with each other, right now, I think. Dom!Elrond is going to happen. It will be interesting, no doubt. But, he's ordered Thranduil around before... it might just be a revelation to him how much he enjoys it. And there'll be visits to Mirkwood now, so more Elrond/Legolas too. Oh, Thranduil/Celeborn. I suspect that Galadriel would know about it all. She has that wacky mirror. I think she's allowing Celeborn to “comfort” Thranduil for now. Besides that, I intend to tell Elrond's story right though to his departure from Middle Earth, and a short few notes about the arrivals in Valinor after that. Some notes on the canon: Celeborn renames Mirkwood with Thranduil after the War of the Ring, and goes on to live in Imladris after the departure of Elrond and Galadriel. He lives with Elladan and Elrohir (maybe he's waiting for them to get tired of killing orcs or something and leave with him, as if he's watching over them as a favour to Elrond. I'm including Thranduil there in my mind, though I won't be writing it). As for Legolas, he crosses the sea with Gimli in the end. I think, those things considered, it'll all wrap up rather nicely, though obviously Arwen is lost to her father forever. :/
  7. Thank you so much! I'm really glad that the concurrent events of the rape and the rescue made sense. It melted my brain, but I was also writing fluffy Elrond stuff so I think that might have had something to do with it. The change in intent, tone and atmosphere, and the language use between the two was torture. Still, the muse is wide awake, so I'm happy. As I said to JayDee, the romantic, dreamy version was first, and it took a while for me to pry its fingers off (even its dead fingers). I think the suicide fits, especially with it being a kind of automatic action rather than a considered one by Kathy. It's almost as if that was waiting for her too, all along.
  8. Thank you so much for this, Bronx. I can't write poety to save my life, I'll take poetic grace as a compliment and run off with it happily - thank you Ah, I wanted the letters to become more forgiving too, but the two of them would not have it. As bad as each other they are. At least it's a good hint of that argument. The full revelation will be along later on. That's been mostly written for quite a while. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
  9. And, as I intimated yesterday, there is another much longer chapter now. Some things really need to be written. This is one of them. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but f you read, I hope you enjoy!
  10. Will I ever finish this story? I might. The next chapter is mostly written, and I am still writing. But for now, there is a new chapter. What happened between Elrond and Thranduil? Maybe some things are clearer here.
  11. When we get the like button back, I'm going to have to like this entire thread. I just realised, I did actually write m-preg twice. Oops. Forgot allll about that. But, see, the thing is, the second time I did it, it was someone else's canon (fanon?), so I didn't have to think about it too much. They did all that. This time it would seem, I definitely am doing it. Deliberately. 24CaratCoal and I have dastardly plans. We are both as much to blame for the result. With any luck, we'll be able to send up every explanation of M-Preg that's ever been posted. Including my own.
  12. Thank you! Being as this story was for you, I'm reallly glad you enjoyed it. Ah, the rape scene. I deliberately made that very hard. Perhaps, thinking now, a little too hard. The truth be told, the first version I wrote had a lot more of the Ferryman in it, and I had a romantic kind of seduction set on a boat on the canal, that's really not a gondola, and a canal that's really a dark river. I had him drown her in the river at the end (because the river Styx grants immortality), but then I reasoned that it was a bit dreamy and altogether too... nice, for a JayDee dedicated story. So I went in the opposite direction on the rewrite. The only parts of that which remain here are the physical description (which is of Charon, the Ferryman), and the recurring motif of payment. I still have the original continuation. I may post that as an alternative chapter/ending if the mood takes me. Thanks for telling me about the html. I had trouble posting earlier. It was so much easier when I used to post a lot. I've fallen out of the habit, I'm afraid.
  13. Second (and final) chapter is now up.
  14. I only have a couple of reviews to add here, since I haven't read them all. But I hope to get around to some more soon. The Frost Effect I'm in awe at how you've not only turned all of our modern 'Hallmark' universe on its head, but then gone and made it up into an entirely new mythology. In so few words! It's as if you've ripped a skirt suit to pieces and made a ballgown. I love the characters who are present in this, and I am intrigued by those who are mentioned, especially Jackie's father, Old Man Winter. This is really amazing writing, Kokoa_B. Thank you for sharing it! Maybe you will give us an update at Easter...? Yule's Gift Bronx, if I had to list all the things I adore about this, my review would be longer than the story. I love the old Oak King/Holly King legend, and, being more fond of winter than summer, I've had my own little daydreams of the Holly King from time to time. If I had to pick an author I trust to do them justice, then it would be you, because I've read your Ghost books. For me, you got him so exactly right. I love the madness running through the whole, and the violence, with the tenderness a perfect counterpoint. The contrast is stunning. But in that it echoes the legend itself, and that's beyond clever. The King is dead! Long live the King! Excellent writing!
  15. I just found an old bit of political satire I wrote. Rick Legg on the Terry de Lyle show for a DNA test to prove he's human. You probably need to be from the UK to get that. *giggles to self*

  16. Hmm... I think the intimidation/consent thing is the only way to do this without it turning in graphic forced gangrape. But I would add that in those early seasons Willow is that damn polite and unsure of herself I'm sure they could (very gently) successfully guilt-trip her a little when she (inevitably) does raise a protest. i.e. "But you did him!" "Why don't you like me?" etc and so on. I can see that easing into reluctant consent, especially if they're experienced enough to make sure she's enjoying it.
  17. We could become legends. Or hated. Probably both. Likely at the same time. Oh, I think the others have already seen me at my worst.
  18. Oh, but it's good fun chasing someone else around with a pen. We'll take this to PM too.
  19. Ha, now I'm curious. PM me. Yay - we exist for this kind of corruption. Yes, I remember. I don't judge, but if you write it, I'd definitely review! Or... if you want to try a team effort, I'm game.
  20. All good points, well made, and frighteningly tempting, but... Legolas and Celebrian are doing their level best between them to drive Elrond insane, or else into a coma of necessity for the purposes of rest. He's very close to losing his temper. I can't look away from that right now. Plus, I'm also painting the scenery of another story I'm writing to finish it off before I post. Just got to stay busy...
  21. Ha! You! I see what you're doing there, yes. Write badfic? On purpose? *looks innocent* I have a conscience. Somewhere. Although, imagine the slowly dawning realisation of: “I'm... growing!? Oh, God, no!” The poor sod would completely lose his mind. Not quickly. Over months that get worse and worse. Imagine the terror when it moves, and he sees it under his skin. Ah... nasty. Pregnancy, even in its normal setting, has always seemed a bit “Alien” to me. And then there'd be satire. For instance, I imagine there's a lot of self hatred involved in eating a tuna and banana pizza. Fortunately for the world, I am going to be busy for a while, making sure Elrond has more lovers than even he can reasonably handle (and I'll be imagining Hugo Weaving all the while I'm doing it).
  22. Here's a question. Do you think M-Preg would read (and write) any differently if it was presented as an extreme version of an enforced femininity fetish, as opposed to feminisation of a particular character for the purpose of a plot? I think it would. The body shock element would really come into its own there. I see good comedy/horror, especially if an author started sending up all the m-preg "explanations" out there.
  23. Royal mail really are completely and utterly useless. How can something spend longer in the local depot that it took for it to move across Europe?!

That's simple. Paperwork, it was invented by bureaucrats to make everyone's lives needlessly harder.

  24. Okay, okay... Yes, I did write it. I didn't really have any choice. It was already there in the interactive story I fashioned it from. Imagine it like a kind of challenge. That being the case, of course I had to think about it. Here is what I came up with as a theory to enable me to write it: The pouch of douglas/recto-vesical pouch (google is your friend). A foetus can develop anywhere. As long as there is a blood supply, a placenta wil form. It's how women end up with ectopic pregnancies. At least I got to write a fully conscious caesarian, which was horrific and therefore well within my comfort zone for writing. But even with that as my reward, I'm not altogether certain that made up for writing it in the first place. Ah, well.
  25. I should probably have done this much earlier, but I kept forgetting. Sorry about that. Once, a very long time ago, JayDee had a great idea for a fanfiction centred on an old british public information film. The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water. See this post in the forums. This idea was offered out to anyone who wanted to have a go at writing it, and I said I would. A year or so later, I finally came out with a first chapter.
