    Thank you so much, Bronx! Riki is indeed in over his head, and Iason is cruel. It’s strange though, because when I write him, he doesn’t feel cruel. He’s not so much ignorant as unable to appreciate Riki’s humanity. Also, he knows the reactions Riki is inspiring in him ought to be impossible, and yet there they are. Daryl… he’s just a tender, lost soul. He sees Riki’s rebellion as a spark that isn’t just set against Iason, but against the whole set up. Although I’m quite sure he doesn’t think in those terms. Not yet, anyway. There is far to go. Writing Iason is so fascinating! I’m going to enjoy the next scene. How would an android approach it? I have a few speculative answers, and it’s quite unlike anything I’ve written before. I’m not sure what Riki will make of it, but he’s feeling kind of sarcastic and scathing. I’m sure that will just ensure his fate, poor sod.

    Thank you, ILoveDexter! I shall certainly try, although the muses are playing with the dressing up box lately, and I have to write what they tell me. But some of the next chapter is already written, so it shouldn’t be too long.

    2016 continues to march... On remembrance day, too. It seems as appropriate as any of the other insane things that have happened lately.

    At the two minutes silence today, it’s obligatory to look back, but recent events might cause a few of us to look forward.

    There’s a very definite Bonnie and Clyde vibe about them. The closer they get to each other, the more they’re going to see their existence in terms of “us against the world”… I think they’re going to be very fascinating psychologically.

    Thank you so much, Bronx! Who writes these? It’s like walking on virgin snow, and yet there is enough in the canon to seriously speculate. I mean they stay together through their time in Middle Earth. Right up to their death. Don’t be fooled, these are not entirely pleasant characters at all, and they’re only going to egg each other on, I think. Expect the first sex scene in the next chapter, but this will go dark. There are enough hints in the canon that they imprison and torment Lúthien between them – it’s one of the reasons Huan abandons Celegorm – and I’m definitely going to go there.

    Wow – thank you so much for all of these comments, Joyeuse! You are quite right in your thoughts about Sauron, though the most important part of the transformation will take place for the reader (if I am good enough). Ha! I am reminded of Valmont in Dangerous Liaisons: “Only one thing could bring me greater glory: to win her back!” After spending most of Fallen impressing on the reader that Sauron is an evil, manipulative, reprehensible piece of work (which he still is, don’t be deceived), I hope to inspire your sympathy for him nevertheless. It might be impossible – but I will try it. Thank you for saying it is beautiful – I hope it will be, because the end I have planned will mean the end of all these characters for good. I’ll be leaving them in a place where they can settle, forever. Ahh… if you fall under Melkor’s spell… *swallows* Resist! The next chapter will be a lot lighter. It will have Mithedhel in it, and a flashback of Mithedhel and Athan. He’s about to go seeking his brother out. Won’t he be shocked? Again, thank you so much for encouraging me!

    If arbitrarily deciding that created content is worthless becomes a thing, regardless of the consumers of that content and their more informed opinion, then I demand all cultish celebrity television be forced to stop broadcasting immediately. The point is, regardless of personal preference, all content is worth something. We are all different, we all have differing tastes, and there should be a place for everyone to play, whether their tastes run towards extremes, slash, celebrity or anything else under the sun. As long as no one is harmed, then there can be no logical argument for censorship. I agree with your view that this would lead to a decrease in creativity, and that would be a very sad thing IMO too.

    Well, I live in the same country that imprisoned Oscar Wilde for the crime of being gay, calling it “gross indecency” at whose sentencing the judge said: Also the same country that convicted the brilliant (and gay) mathematician Alan Turing for “indecency” (why this seems to be a pattern!), making him submit to a “cure” (oh, no, wait… it’s getting worse – cure actually means chemical castration). From the court record, word for word: To this day, there are still men living in Britain who were convicted under the same law – for being gay. So… can I imagine being forced to defend the writing I produce in a court of law, in this country in which I live? Yes, I can… all too easily. They’ll probably come out with some new “obscene publication” law. Although, apart from all the disturbing and horrific BDSM I write (which I would defend, even if it ended in prison time), the idea of an actual court starting down the path of the tl;dr “Why slash?” thing is a little bit hillarious.

    It doesn’t include the written word… yet. Though the kind of people who think these things up will have that in their sights, I’m sure. The age verification they propose is not satisfied by a “Proceed” question either. It has to be done via credit card or something similar. But then again, he makes the point they have no clue how the internet works. There’s no way to police it for content hosted outside the UK, which has no obligation to conform to any act passed by our parliament, and therefore makes the entire thing ridiculous. As he says, it’s the smaller UK content providers who are going to be hurt by this. Those who produce pornography that fits in a niche, that probably isn’t created exclusively by men, for men, and isn’t necessarily hetero or vanilla. Sad. I doubt this has anything to do with what children see or not on the internet: there are plenty of parental control things out there, and if that fails, supervision of online time would work. I’ve always thought that letting kids loose on the internet is a bit like leaving them on a street corner. But anyway, I think that’s just a convenient facade to justify a war on pornography (especially certain kinds of pornography). Yet again, I find myself wondering what the hell people have against it. They don’t have to watch, it’s easy to avoid. I’m always tempted to think that some of us are just more adult than others. *sighs*

    If I keep watching these anime things, I’m going to learn selected bits of Japanese by exposure, but everything I learn will just make me sound like some Japanese version of Papa Lazarou. i.e. “You’re mine now.” “You belong to me.” “It’s quite swollen.” “Don’t worry… I’ll enjoy myself.” “That’s a nice moan you have.” All I need do is learn how to say: “You’re my wife now, Dave!” and “Where’s the toilet?” and the transformation will be complete.
