  1. Also, I’m writing a lot of last chapters at the moment as parting gifts to my readers, old and new. So on the bright side it’s making me productive this week!
  2. Thanks, Des There has been no “summons” though, so there’s no reason to believe all the troll’s friends have chimed in. They won’t have been informed of anything during the – and I use the term very loosely – “investigation” I have wondered if there has been personal dislike of my content amongst the abuse team. I agree, as a strategy it’s not going to go well for them long term. Oh, AFF is my home! And it has been since before AO3 even existed, back when it was the occasional Yuletide Treasure rarepairing challenge, so no worries there. It’s why I put my personal time in as a volunteer here. I will leave AO3, but I won’t go altogether quietly – sod that. Which means… well, I’ll be as adult as possible. *g*
  3. Yeah… thinking about it, if I did write that, to make it really hammer home for them I’d have to write Tolkien characters in a modern college/coffee shop AU setting, and… I don’t mind the rest of it, but that… *shudders* The trouble with the adult version is that it depends mainly upon not giving a flying fuck about anything at all, ever again… and I just haven’t mastered that yet. When I do I probably won’t be bothered to write any more. I’ll probably flounce a little bit, mostly because at least it’ll let people know where the stories have gone. The one adult consideration I’ll make is that before I leave that AN, I’ll remove references to the troll account from my comments section. They’re not responsible for this BS, AO3 is.
  4. I am capable of this. I could gift it to them.
  5. That would be the rational, adult thing to do… certainly. Unfortunately, as I said above, I was just thinking of kind of “flouncing” off in a flurry of chapters and author’s notes… *sighs* Bollocks. Now I’ve seen the “responsible adult” option, I can’t unsee it. I think I’ll get myself a cup of tea. :/ And btw, you always make me smile
  6. Wow… *gulps* I was just thinking of kind of “flouncing” off in a flurry of chapters and author’s notes… Given that I’ve said I won’t cover up bad behaviour, I should really include AO3 Abuse Team’s bad behaviour in that. I really don’t think it’ll come to that, though. The troll isn’t going to comment on our story. What they wanted was to remove that particular story from their view whenever they clicked on the pairing tag, and ironically, ‘Prince in Training’ is not a story I will take down, since it’s a collaboration. Also ironically, I wasn’t considering taking anything down in response to the troll, not even their own comment.
  7. UPDATE: In a strange and bizarre twist worthy of Franz Kafka, despite following everyone’s excellent advice above (well, except yours, DA, the price of petrol being what it is), the other site hold me responsible and have officially “warned” me and threatened me with account suspension for an indefinite period of time if I “engage in any further harassing behavior“ I kid you not. At first, I thought they’d sent me the wrong email, but no. The next time a troll posts on my work, they shut me down. Maybe this is some strange kind of reverse psychology ploy by the abuse team, empowering the trolls in the hope that this will confuse them so much they will leave everyone alone. This is a little bit like one of those court cases you hear about where someone gets prison time for GBH because they punched a burglar in the face, rather than allow the burglar to nick the silver and torture their wife. No.. actually it’s not, since I told my readers (in two seperate places) not to respond, which is like making the burglar tea and biscuits, and asking them if they want to know where the really offensive sex toys are, only to receive a solicitor’s letter two weeks later about a compensation claim for food poisoning. Well… I can’t think of anything else funny to write about this. Reactions from fandom people whom I’ve told seem to follow a general template of: followed by a sad smiley I’ve got to admit, that’s pretty much been my reaction too so far.
  8. Hi Just to add, the “Searching for a Fic?” section of the forum is more helpful to people who are looking for a story they read a long time ago, where they might only remember very vague details or certain plot points. If you know some details about the story you are looking for, the search on the archive itself should find it much more easily for you.
  9. Well… it’s been a strange few days, that’s for sure!

Here are some examples of “alternative facts” for reference:

Despite photographic evidence, in terms of visible crowds, less is more.

A unicorn just flew past my window with a can of Red Bull in its mouth. It had a sign around its neck saying it was a Pegasus.

Being sent abusive comments means you are guilty of harassment.

    The world is actually flat.

There is no such thing as marmite.

I do not have work in the morning.

I am not going to bed.

    I am not saying goodnight.

  10. Thank you, Khajiitophile! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, even if you did have to sleep with the light on, lol. I really wanted it to seem as if by taking home the cloak, she’d taken home the ghost, and it became resident. Even though the “ghost” really turns out to be herself in a way. Kathy is really an original character I suppose, so I am glad you liked her too. Despite her mental health issues, she seemed (at least to me) a very independent character. I kind of like the thought that the weakness in her began in the moment she picked that thing up as a child. So that the rest of the story is then an inevitable conclusion. Ah, I did write it so readers could get off on those earlier scenes (and probably set them off thinking in the process), and in my head it fits into an either/or compartment. I’m glad you could enjoy the story even though you had to give up on that aspect *g* Again, thank you!
  11. Honestly, TCR, when I have my beta reader head on I am a total pain in the arse… just ask CL And I know I am woefully behind in my reading (of CloverReef’s stories too)… I hope to catch up at some point. Maybe this week with any luck.
  12. Sounds great! Really, if it’s anywhere near as disturbing as that one with the Doctor’s companion, Ace… or that one with the crocodile monster rape/evisceration in the sewer, I am really looking forward to it. Snuff and necrophilia are fine, and kind of logical conclusions given what you’ve said about the fic already. It’ll be interesting necrophilia if it’s the bloke that’s dead by the end. Hmm… I think Guy N Smith did that one once during a rape scene, when the attackers head was suddenly severed… ‘Phobia’ I think it was... I’m going to have to dig that out now. Anyway! I’m not saying your stories don’t scare or disturb me, JayDee. They do, very much so, and that’s exactly why I like them.
  13. You’ve got me really curious now about what you’ve been writing… I’m going to check in later to see what it is *rubs hands together* For now… I need sleep…
  14. Well on the face of it, I’d say it doesn’t require the 3plus tag, but then it kind of depends. If the parasite is actually self-aware then things change, and definitely if the parasite is self-aware and getting some kind of vicarious sexual thrill out of screwing the female of the species. In both of those instances, I’d use the tag. I would like to clarify that this post – at least on the face of it – has nothing to do with the new President of the United States.
  15. Well…

This morning I turned on the TV and threw up in my mouth a bit.

I haven’t done that since the day Diana died. And for many of the same reasons.

  16. Hi ANON, and thank you so much I’m very glad you enjoyed it – I had a lot of fun with word choices in this little story and building that atmosphere of mental instability. It’s wonderful to hear about it when it works! I appreciate what you said about the masturbation scene, and it is likely my fault for not being more explicit about those helpless urges and the sensations inside her. Perhaps if I had added just one more little bit of development there… *nods* It always means a lot to me getting comments on the bits of horror I write, so thank you again for taking the time to leave a few words! I’m glad you could lose yourself in this little world – all writers love to hear that.
  17. Thank you very much for this review, CCWolfe! I’m so happy you’re enjoying it, and thank you for your compliments. Elrond is my favourite, I have to admit. I’ve been working on his story, on and off, for ten years. Also, there were a couple of chapters ahead with black diamonds in, but I replaced the punctuation to make it easier to read. I hope you like the rest of the story too!
  18. Thank you, Bronx! I love being able to make readers feel things, so I cherish every comment like this. Legolas has developed some thanks to his interactions with Erestor, not just in terms of knowledge and experience, but personally, and I hope to show that in the chapters to come. I must admit to loving the Erestor TAFKAB and I have written, almost from the beginning, even when he riled Legolas up and made him feel all abandoned. *g* This comment means a lot to me as well since TAFKAB only had a hand in the very beginning of this chapter, so most of it is entirely my doing, including the scene with Erestor out in the wood. It’ll certainly be very smutty and BDSM-y going forward, lol!
  19. Thank you, ILoveDexter and Dea Yes, there is a slight delay – I had rather a longish break over Christmas and New Year, although I did write a special chapter in advance for someone, so at some point you’ll get an early update, or maybe two chapters together. I hope it won’t be too long until the next one now.
  20. Thank you, jungledrums… and off topic, welcome back to the forums
  21. My apologies, but this was too good not to share. Found on one of my political sites who came on it via George Takei, here is the Sunday Herald’s (Scotland) TV section:

    Awesome…

Awesome… actually, you could probably save us all by shoving that combination up his arse and setting it off, rendering hastily constructed spacecraft unnecessary :)

Way to think outside the box :) Now where did I put those heavy gloves...not going anywhere near that oriface without protection

  22. Wow… thank you so much, Bronx I am not going to pretend… I meant to make people cry at this chapter. For various reasons it’s important to me that I write loss correctly, and I hope that although Celebrian didn’t feature heavily in my interpretation of Elrond’s story, she featured for long enough to show the vast difference in her between the before and after, and what that means to Elrond. It’s a transitional point in the whole fic, really. Everything will move faster after this, at least in terms of time. For Elrond in a personal sense, I think the years will turn much too slowly. But, be reassured… ultimately I’ll give everyone I can a happy ending in this. You say “this is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever read” and to me it’s one of the most wonderful comments I’ve ever received. Thank you!
  23. Chapter 47: Elrond has to let Celebrian go.
