Our dauschund is so proud of his wolfie provider prowess: he caught and killed a mouse!
-
He’s braver than my corgi, who wants to make friends with the local skunks…

From what I’ve heard about Daschunds, they have an attitude to match the length of their legs, so that mouse probably insulted him in some way
And I’m certain that Freyja is a minion of Mollie, so I am sure that befriending local skunks is just a part of some grand scheme towards world dominion

Are you sure your skunks are not particularly seductive, a la Pepe Le Pew?
He also is pack leader over the great dane. She won’t go outside, day or night, without him to protect her...

Roofers finally making noise overhead. It took NINE months minus a week for the insurance to stop dragging their feet and low-balling ripped roof deck and hail damage. The first month it poured in, later it ‘only’ dripped.
Maybe we’ll all stop having problems sleeping.

Trying to edit my NaNo collection, but a fruitless and draining hospitalization sucked away my holiday card projects and last-minute gifting. Gee, I wish we still had power where the bread machine lives...
Hope everyone’s holidays are better than the rest of this dreary year!

skin of teeth: 50,337 words. not bad as I lost several days to toothache and attempted dentist run. (and missing health aides for family at least half the month)
I will say i don’t like that the competitive widgets on the Nano pages are gone as that helps motivation. Forums really don’t help with wordcount any more than physical write-ins. They pull me out of the stories I wanted to tell.
Last year’s story collection became a new one which may result in nearly 20 stories. I’d hoped to do more originals, but originals require more energy and focus than I had spoons for. I’ll be revising after my hospital stay starting tomorrow… (uggh cubed)

48k for Nano. medical issues really nuked me this year. (tooth aches for weeks and usual aide issues. get to ‘celebrate’ end of Nano with biopsy and other stressors, whee!
hope everyone else is fine.

That tired feeling after a big day writing (2600 words) and your brain is too fried to want anything but sleep. Welcome to NaNo doldrums…
-
17104, not as good a day, butu I usually have a three or four day cycle during Nano.
I kind of miss the widgets, it takes too many clicks to check on a writing buddy’s progress and compete...

Happy about a SW RotS fic for Nano. Here’s what I’m proud of today: (see if you can guess the other inspiration)
Polli went to help Mirran. The stairs up must be blocked, let the attackers think they were hoping for air rescue. Carting furniture with service droids and the Force clogged the old wide spiral stairs, pulling out or destroying the lynchpins would not solve tons of equipment falling.
Enthan arrived at the desert garden with a grin. “I got the emergency stairs into the Council chamber. Like a ton of compressed fire suppressant foam will expand to cut off air in the shaft. They’ll need days to cut out and remove it if they think to find anyone there running defenses.”
Polli asked her friends, all sweaty and sore, “What else do we have that’s heavy but easy to clog lift shafts?”
“Water or sand from the gardens. I need help finishing the poppers. If we can break the electronics in their armor… it won’t help against the Sith, but he must be a coward to bring an army against the injured and younglings...” Kotton was finally showing anger too. “They have not left, lethalities are necessary now. Can we handle that?”
Polli blinked, this was opposite why she worked so hard to become a Padawan. The Living Force made her weep with interconnected joy in deep meditations. She wasn’t really for the field, but the harsh balance of healing. Every hour they distracted the clones was that many fugitives who might get away. “To save a life, we kill the cancer.”
Adus and Mirran nodded in synch, while Enthan spoke darkly, “We won’t have to handle it long, a few days at most.”

Usual slow start for NaNo: blaming insurance stonewalling, politics, and agencies’ incompetence! 5779 (1k behind) they don’t seem to have the widgits anymore

yay! I’m still at a deficit, but I should get parity tomorrow. I’m at 13276 and not 13333. brain fried and fighting toothache.
glad you found her a regab! is it close for visiting?

Eh. Thanks to the pandemic, there’s no visiting in person. I can do video visits, and had one scheduled for today. It did not happen, however, so tomorrow will be devoted to finding out why, and getting a clearer update of how she’s doing. I am unamused...
