At the very top should be a dropdown for the subdomain where the story is posted. It may be defaulting to Anime, which would be why you are getting an error, unless the story is in the Anime subdomain. It’s frustrating to have it default to Anime when you’re only editing, I agree.

I am not an Opera expert, but I think you might need to add a Chrome extension to allow for text encoding changes. It used to be in Opera’s View > Text Encoding menu, but that was eliminated some time ago. Opera now uses Chrome extensions for that function. Hopefully we have actual Opera experts who will chime in as well, if I’m mistaken.

I’ve no idea why it’s happening, but I suspect it’s to do with the Hotmail email address. Microsoft tightened its security for its email clients after last year’s breach, and it’s had the unfortunate side effect of creating havoc for us. Our hosting company had taken steps to resolve the issue, but if Microsoft made any new tweaks, we may be back to issues again. Hopefully @DemonGoddess can shed some light on this, since she is the tech admin, and far more savvy.

Is this the link you are using? I’ve been able to reset myself with this link: http://members.adult-fanfiction.org/reset.php Just a few reminders about passwords; they need to be between 8-12 letters and/or numbers long, no punctuation or special characters, and they are case sensitive.

The issue with the Hotmail email addresses should be resolved. As far as logging in, where is the problem? Is it a forgotten password? If so, I’ll need to have our tech admin check that for you, since I can’t access the database directly to see passwords.

Since we seem to have a troll using this thread to behave in a manner unbecoming, and I have absolutely no patience left for Internet trolls, I’m locking this thread.

Is this a story of yours? If so, and you’re looking to publish it to AFF as well, we’d need to know the appropriate subdomain and fandom (if applicable) for the story before we’d even consider making a category. If the story is not yours, we’d prefer to have this request come from the actual author.

I’m showing you as last logged in today at 03:18:57 GMT-6 (which is the time zone for our hosting company). I’m not sure why you need to update the account, since you’re up to date as far as the archive code changes. If you are resetting your password, remember that it must be letters and/or numbers ONLY—no punctuation, special characters or other symbols. It must be at least 8 letters and/or numbers long, but no more than 12. And if you do use letters, the password is case sensitive, so anything you set as a capital letter must always be a capital letter. You also need to log in with the same email address that was used to make the account, and not with your pen name. That’s what our software looks for, and it’s got to be an exact match.

It’s been dealt with. We’ve had this discussion about public domain and plagiarism before, and I’m really past explaining that just because someone says a story can be posted elsewhere doesn’t mean it can be posted here. The story isn’t considered public domain unless copyright has expired or it specifically states that it is placed in the public domain (which is more than saying it can be posted elsewhere). Even if it were in the public domain, copying a story and changing names is still plagiarism. And I’m equally in awe of Guest’s Google-fu skills. Thank you!

I think at this point we are done with the account. There is absolutely no effort to comply with our Terms of Service, or to police the content being posted by members of the joint account. I’m going to notify the joint account that it needs to be closed. I’m done.

Absolutely! Open your Control Panel and go to the Cartoons Story Manager. Click the “Edit Story Info” button for that story, and you’ll be able to choose the right category from the dropdown on the next page. You can also edit other parts of the story info there, like the summary, disclaimer, or tags.
