Hmmm, odd - I don't show user validation being completed. I'll have our Admin, DemonGoddess, look into it tomorrow -

Hey Blackwidow, You got the registration form correct - But we can't validate you unless you validate on your end first Make sure you check your email, click the link and then we can handle things on our end! -
I took a look, the author pulled their stories - Sorry!

Minerva, We actually have information that shows your birthday as 9-25-1990 which is why all the stories that were published before 2008 were removed. The one story that was left up was published in 2011 while the stories that were removed were from 2004 to 2008. Your actual registration date was in October of 2004, however as our records indicate you were 14 at the time, your registration was reflected to show your 18th birthday. If you would like to provide us with a copy of a photo ID that has your birthday on it (all other information blacked out if you'd like) and a picture of you holding said photo ID, showing that you are indeed 34, then of course I will apologize for any mistake we have made. Until such point as that is provided, my original information stands. You are welcome to contact me at any of the IM's listed in my profile or at the admin@adult-fanfiction.org address with further questions.

Please note that asking for copies of a story to be sent violates our ToS, as such your email address has been removed from your post

DSX - We have a variety of methods that we choose not to disclose to avoid minors trying to figure out ways around them And yes, upon initial entry to a subdomain it will ask and then set a cookie.
-
DSX - If you were to re-read, if there is a suspicion that you are not at least 18 and we are unable to verify your age through our normal methods, then we ask that you send us a copy of a photo ID with all information blocked out except for your birthday and a picture of you holding said photo id.

Don't think that's a typo...

LadyKannah, When it comes to the electronic signature, the concept is that even though you are signing electronically that it holds no less validity than a signature on a piece of paper and should be treated as such. It's similar to the idea that one can just sign with an 'x' on a legal document, it is in no way any less valid than a person signing a full name. So whether you use your full name, initials, etc, please understand that you are entering into a legally binding agreement stating that you are at least 18 years old and providing your accurate birthday. As for the verification code, when users switch over to the new users panel, they will be required to ensure all information is correct and filled in, which at that point will send a verification link, not code to the email provided. This ensures that all active users are providing a valid and working email address. In regards to your suggestion, I refer you to my statements above to the previous user. Thanks for taking the time to read our news and comment!

Suggestions for Archive cleanup and restructure
ApolloImperium replied to TonHyukOTP's topic in Fiction Archive
Before posting suggestions, please make sure that you are reading the news posts so that you have the most up-to-date information. This is already planned as part of our code rewrite for the year. As the total cost for the new code is $1500, donations as well as suggestions are always appreciated. -
Please remember though if this is the story that AFF does not support or endorse downloading or copying a fiction with out the express permission of the author

Thank you in advance Mare!! All of our moderators start out as part of our clean up crew as an evaluation period, so if that would interest you, please email DemonGoddess and myself at admin@adult-fanfiction.org so we can talk further offline

While I think DG was extremely polite and accurate in her response, please allow me to honestly question you here. This is an original, so this means that the person worked hard to come up with their own world and characters, to develop a plotline of their own. I understand it was for your private collection, but have you seen our Hall of Shame? We publicly shame and ban people who take other people's stories and post them - EVEN when the reason is just that they wanted to share so more people can see it. Would you go to a library, read a book, decide you like it and just photocopy the entire book so you could keep it?? I'm going to guess your answer is no, you wouldn't as that would be most decent people's answer. So if you wouldn't do that to a published author from a library, why would you disrespect one of our authors in such a manner? Just because they decided to share it on an archive for free doesn't make it any less theirs or deserving of any less respect from the readers, so pardon me while I say shame on you.

Found this on FB, got a kick out of it - I'm not old enough to have done it all, but I remember some of it!

First off, it was posted on dA so it may or may not ever have been loaded on AFF which is primarily what the search forms are for as well, AFF hosts these forums. Beyond that, it's not against the rules to look for one as it may be posted elsewhere - You just can't pass on a copy that you have saved elsewhere.

Not sure what you mean by everything, but as a point of reference - In the future just correct the problem, let us know that you did and it will be unhidden. As for a way to communicate with readers, that currently isn't something we have planned in this upgrade, however because the code will be customized and not patched, it will actually make it easier for us to add features in the future due to our programmer working with her own code. My biggest recommendation though is to use for forums for review replies and what not. If it's a one shot, make the topic in advance and put it in the story to let readers know where to find responses. If it is a multiple chapter story, post it each chapter and let them know you have replied to reviews from ReaderX, ReaderY and ReaderZ. You can have author's notes, so long as they stay under 600 words. The other thing to keep in mind is that just because a person doesn't respond back on a topic, doesn't mean that they didn't read it. To pull a topic at random - There are 9 posts (all by the author) but over 200 views. It's just like views vs reviews on the archive side - People may read and not review. Encourage discussion both in an AN as well as when you post the replies in the forum. Some of the most successful review reply threads I've seen the author doesn't just post answers or thank their readers, they ask questions or phrase things in such a manner that opens things up for discussion. Just somethings to keep in mind, but please know we hear the request and you may see it at some point in the future, just not this go around.
