WAFF = warm and fuzzy feeling. It’s actually a legit romance style, you know, the feel good type of story. But when I was in the fandoms, we used it to refer to any romance fanfics that turned strong characters into mewling, needy, love-starved mary sues.

Probably says a lot about me that I get most excited when the word research comes up. Can’t wait to read it!

I’m on the fence too. I dooo love a good holiday horror, but I’ve been kinda going back and forth for my own story. I started a horror, got half way through, now I’m mulling over a tongue-in-cheek smutfest… Also considered sci fi… Can’t say I’ve considered WAFF. Maybe I should try it. Chibi uke Santa, anyone?

This is a really fascinating concept. Could you elaborate on what you mean by ‘relationship-focused’ story? Do you just mean it’s going to be focused on any sort of relationship between two people or are you going for something more specific, like a romance or a buddy cop sorta thing?

I don’t know what it is about numbers and analysis of them that tickles me. But it does. When was the last FFN smut purge? I remember when I was on FFN… God… 15 years ago? There was all this talk of a purge that everyone was freaked out about and up in arms even though no one I know had been affected by it. It became a friend-of-a-friend type of thing. Just the fear of it chased a lot of us off onto more perv-friendly sites like Noire Sensus, livejournal and little fandom popup sites. You’d think now that erotica’s become somewhat mainstream, FFN and their advertisers, or whoever’s pissing in their cornflakes about it, would loosen up a bit, but I wouldn’t mind a little boost of activity here. Especially in the forums. We could use some fresh meat.

I do this too. Pictures for mood. Usually something setting related, I use focuswriter, which lets me put a picture as a background to write on. If I write a scene that takes place in winter, I’ll put in a wintery cityscape as the background. Or an angsty scene will get an angsty picture.
