(Sorry if they has been answered elsewhere but I'm new)
So I was recently convinced to join the archive and I've started by posting a mulitchapter story and I'm wondering if it would be better to post all the chapters at once or put them up one at a time on some sort of schedule?
If the latter, how often?
Uploading a whole heap of chapters at once does tend to deter many readers from even bothering, so as others have said, one at a time over a week or so is probably the best.
That's what I'm doing in moving my work over from HF. Every Saturday I post a chapter and I just finished putting up the first piece I'd written from some years ago. Tomorrow I start another story. I've also asked the same question in my review and response thread just in case some folk would like to see some work more quickly.
It does seem to work better for readership if you post a bit at a time, like once a week. You can even let your readers know it's finished, but you'll be posting a chapter a week, and pick a day to post.
