Bug squish log.

For October, I’ve been quietly rolling out small bug fixes, most are just performance based.

Two user side ones
-Site based e-mails are now fixed (turns out this was not a code based bug, fixed as of this post)

- Bold text has returned to stories.

 

DG is going to be doing some proofreading and squishing typo gremlins.

I just tried editing the summaries of two of my stories, and the edits didn’t stick for either one.

@GeorgeGlass could you check if you can edit other fields?  It will help narrow down wherr to look for the bug.

I tried adding new content tags and changing the story rating and was able to do both. However, I could not add punctuation to the disclaimer any more than I could to the summary.

@GeorgeGlass what sort of punctuation? The filter code is pretty strict in order to stop malicious stuff.

In my experience, it’s all punctuation. Periods, commas, apostrophes, all of which are common in summaries, disclaimers, and titles.

I just experimented with a couple of my story summaries, and here’s what I found:

--Periods, commas, question marks, and quotation marks don’t work at all.

--Hyphens work normally.

--Apostrophes now work normally, too. (They used to be replaced by the number 39 for some reason.)

Oddly, this problem only affects some of my stories. There’s no pattern to it that I can see; the problem isn’t confined to a particular story category (it affects some of my stories in Originals and some in Cartoons) or to a particular range of dates (the oldest story of mine that has this problem was posted in 2019).

Apostrophe… it’s ASCII number is 39.

I’ve put in some changes, please give it some more testing to see if there is improvement.

Thanks  some things don’t show as bugs due to my user perms, so user testing is very appreciated.

Thanks for trying, but periods, commas, question marks, exclamation points, and quotation marks still aren’t working.

So I just edited several of my summaries and a couple of titles. Periods, commas, question marks, and exclamation points now work. Quotation marks, colons, and parentheses do not.

Quotation marks and parentheses will stay disabled in those for the time being due to site security. Colon and semicolon I'll try to enable this weekend.  Also you can minic "  with '' if need be.
