Examples to clarify my muddy point: --Sesshoumaru's occassional habit to refer to himself in the third person ("This Sesshoumaru...")InuYasha fandom --Albel Nox's oddly endearing tendency to delegate everyone he meets into the catagories of either "maggot", "worm" or "fool".
