I usually start out with the bad and add the good later, but I think a lot more people want buttering up if they are going to hear what was wrong in their writing. Well, I'm not into that sort of thing, but my mum wants to be. It's too bad she's an old bag and needs to start acting like one. She doesn't want to though. She still thinks she's "sexy and seventeen" and wants to do all sorts of (in my opinion) wierd crap like have "friends with benefits" and crap. She asked my stepfather once (she was married to him) if he would mind having an open marriage. He said it was no problem, he was interested in other women. He lied. My mum screwed around with other people and he got severely pissed off. We were visiting in, well, the Netherlands (I wasn't born here) and he left us early claiming he was going to ship some stuff to us and ended up leaving us high and dry. He took all his crap and left the house, didn't pay any bills, essentially got us evicted and never spoke to us again. Let me mention he was the bread earner. So, well, at least there is a testimonial to men that lie to make their partner feel like they're open and not actually meaning it.

I have. It was my teacher's fault, to be honest, because she wasn't teaching us jack. She gave us the books and made us do it all, but I kept having questions about it that she'd never answer when I asked her. Plus she just wanted to go to China, so all her quizes and tests had stupid bonus questions that had nothing to do with the subject and that I didn't know at the time (such as "What is 'hello' in Chinese?" when the class was maths- geometry in specific). I have never set foot on the continent Asia. (I was in a boat right next to it though XD I was therefore in Asian waters, but never on Asia itself. [[istanbul in Turkey]])

I usually always have a nationality/origin in mind for a character whether they are set in fantasy or not. I use http://www.babynamenetwork.com/ to search by origin and choose boy or girl. I find something that sounds cool, something check out that the meaning is something similar to what I'm looking for (though I have no idea how accurate the meanings are) and use that. For mythological beasts, I typically choose names of gods or goddesses that are lesser known. For example, I just created a gryphon today who is part peregrine falcon and part cheetah. Because of this, I designated Africa to be their origin, and looked up gods and goddesses of various African Tribe pantheons. I couldn't find one that had anything to do with his personality, unfortunately, so I just stuck with something that sounded cool. XD

Sweet, thanks for the advice. I would like to live relatively organically and healthily. I also hate how some foods that you reheat in the microwave come out 10x more soggy than they should be. It grosses me out XD

Technically it also stems from people who haven't even completed high school yet also try and write. You can't write well if you haven't even learned how to yet. Which people need to realize but never will since everyone wants to be accepted, special, and loved. The cure would be to actually get critique from someone more experienced privately before publishing on the internet, but that never happens.
