  1. First, it should be available to you in your user panel, the story. What email address did you send to? I take care of this, and do check for corrections upon notification, and then the story is notated in our working document, and unhidden. I don't recall seeing an email from anyone with a user name resembling your forum name. I need the story title, and the subdomain it's in. Normally, you would indeed email that this has been corrected, but only if it's been hidden first. If a disclaimer is corrected before a story is hidden, we simply make note of it and that's the end of it for that story. In general, yes, if it's a minor TOS violation, once corrected, if mail notification is needed, that's how you would do that. Mail to this address: TOS_team@adult-fanfiction.org. Generally speaking, if a user is approached by a moderator via email in the first place, the response would be the using the same method. For the disclaimers, we tell you all, that once you've fixed it, delete the warn. In that for instance, no mail notification is needed.
  2. Yep, there are some minor coding changes being done at the moment. Some nice upgrades included with that as well, which you'll see once it's done.
  3. Heh. You'd be surprised how many "don't own, don't sue" we see each and every day. Consistently. Now, for the increase in the field size for reviews. Which, as I said is not something that'll happen YET. It's certainly something that will indeed happen. 240 characters is NOT ENOUGH space to be able to do what many of you would like to with the space. However, I don't anticipate the field change to be made until after the new stuff is ready for deployment. Having said that, it certainly wouldn't hurt to look at revisiting that as a minor change prior to finishing up the software in development. So, I will put that on our to do list, and next time manta2g and I are talking, we'll take a quick look at it as well.
  4. nah this is fine...I'll get it taken care of for ya
  5. As far as I know, we don't have a specific rule in place regarding holding a story hostage for reviews. However, the best action I can think of for it, is to ignore the user ENTIRELY. I mean, after all, they're after attention, yes? Don't give it to 'em. Now, in the past, I've gone off on users for exactly that sort of thing. Let 'em know just how immature I thought the behavior WAS (not here, elsewhere). Because it really is. I can think of nothing that will spoil a story for me faster than the writer doing that.
  6. Something to keep in mind with the disclaimers, is that by October 21st of last year, I'd gone through and corrected, subdomain by subdomain, with the exception of crossover stories, all stories in the archive, using a query per category. So, anything dated from 10/21/08 and before, SHOULD have been addressed and not be a problem (except crossovers, no time to individually edit each and every one of those). That was a rather time consuming task, as we have several subdomains with MULTIPLE fandoms in them as subcategories and/or top level categories. So each time the query was executed, it had to be modified to fit that particular subcategory, for wording. That was a one time thing when I did it. Just a few days ago, manta2g and I re-explored putting BACK the auto-disclaimer, which had been removed MONTHS before either one of us got into the code here. There's a very good reason as to why. The query structure involved is actually 2 versions ahead of what the archive is written in, so by doing that (it's not just a simple dropdown menu), it causes problems with the rest of the old code, which is just that. OLD and obsolete. So, we tinkered around for a bit, and sorry to say, we cannot reinstate that function in THIS version of the software. Wish we could, it sure would save alot of headaches for everyone. However, if we tried to, it would in all probability crash the current software. NOT an option. This function will be put in place in the new software. We'd already planned for it. Now, as far as looking at disclaimers every day, that's not the only thing we're looking at and for. That's just the start of it, actually. We also look for minors, trolls, plagiarists (sometimes one of us recognizes a story, and remember it belonging it to someone else) and other things like that. As to the size of the disclaimer field, yes, it will be increased, but not in this version of the software.
  7. Ah ok. I looked it up in our worksheet for this, and it's listed as not having a profit statement added to the disclaimer. That would be why it was hidden.
  8. What are the titles? What it LOOKS like to me, is that they were likely hidden because the disclaimers were not quite right. You can still access them from your user panel, yes?
  9. Well... let's see Links articles as to what she did elsewhere... tvtropes.com Fan History Wiki yep, she matches all that exactly.
  10. I was thinking something even more specific... Depending upon the amount of stories per category that belongs to series. If they're not overly populated, I can create what you asked as subcategory, and move the pre-existing subcategories into it as sub sub categories. Dunno, gotta think about that a bit more, and I will probably end up applying that to other game series as well once we get there for sorting.
  11. Untitled (Anyone have any Ideas?) in anime, belongs in naruto
  12. Well, in archive this size, you sometimes have to look, and/or ask for recommendations. I think Keith or Acal might be more the kind of writers you're looking for. They're BOTH good writers. As to fic quality and such overall, if you think about what is seen as the purpose of this archive by the person who owns it, and those of us who help run it, then you'll understand why QC is not something we necessarily do. Jaxxy, for example, strongly believes in having an area to have an outlet for not only creativity, but being able to express that while LEARNING, and in an adult community. By that, (adult community) I'm referring to a community of people who are 18 or over. Not necessarily their story content. I completely agree with her on that. See, I can't write for beans either. But, that doesn't mean that I should, or WOULD discourage someone else from giving it a try. It takes GUTS to put your work out there for others to have a look at, and in many for instances, tear it apart. And yet, still be able to come back the next day and do it AGAIN.
  13. Multiple deletions of this user for posting trollfic, since spring of last year (2008). Just some examples of the "fiction" that has been repeatedly posted, in multiple subdomains. And deleted. And deleted. And deleted. You get the idea. I should point out that this one was deleted before under a different user name as well.

  20. I think wasting public funding is a bad idea no matter WHO it is that does it, and regardless of party and/or political affiliation. There IS no defending that kind of waste.
  21. haha, see ya like my shark there.... Really, I do need more for the clean up. If you're interested, IM me in Yahell or AIM. With that thing, it's gotten so slow because for a long time I had 2 who had pressing real life matters, still have 2 with limited machine access, and 1 has shifted to archive moderation and helps where she can in the clean up. As far as the 2 with pressing real life matters, one is still under a heavy college schedule, the other has gotten some free time within the last few days. Which was a great relief to me. And of course then there's what I look at daily.... On a work day, for example, first thing I do is check email (5 different accounts) take care of it. Then, I attend to matters within the mail such as unhiding something, giving a user tech support, or just answering questions we get occasionally about some stuff. From there, I go to the admin queue in forum and check the validating members (admin queue) for linkage to their archive profile. If that's not provided (very common) I search the db both in the archive, and in a utility I have using email address if the user name provided gives me no hits. Then I go on to approve/delete from that queue. Where the user hasn't provided a link, I'll edit the profile to include it. After that, it's check in with the moderator staff and take care of things as needed there, that are my responsibility to deal with. Then from THERE, I start eyeballing the stories for sort, looking for glitches and etc. Of course, then there's the days I come home to the spam bomber from hell....and that always takes priority so it can be made to GO AWAY as quickly as possible. Mind you, somewhere in that mess I gotta make sure I get my housework done, spend time with my family, and other assorted daily rl things that everyone does. Needless to say, the sooner this damn clean up is done, the happier I will be. I haven't drawn a thing in over a YEAR because of other things that take time. ugh. Anyway, enough of my ranting, but if you seriously want to give a hand, your help will be much appreciated.
  22. Cool! If it works out the way you're anticipating, show us what she looks like
  23. I actually have something in mind for that for the entire subdomain. It's going to take a fair bit of time to implement. So, I'd rather do it all at one time, rather than piecemeal. Been thinking about how to do this where it work best not only for the database, but easier for the users as well. The database is always, always, always my primary concern, as it should be. Non functional db means no archive, period. It's going to be a bit of a wait, because I still have other subdomains to get through before I get to hp. As I am currently the ONLY one doing the sort/catalog for the most part, on top of everything else I do, you can see WHY the slow going. In any case, before any one even thinks to ask, this is the ONLY subdomain where I will implement what I have in mind for OC pairings. It's kind of a quirk of the subdomain. What will happen, once I get there, is that there will be a top level category created then the standard schema for story/pair type. I could actually do that now, and have you guys move 'em yourselves. Realistically, I know this won't happen (users moving the files). So instead I will concentrate my efforts in the sequence I originally stated.
  24. Took a quick lookie at it...gotta say, it's my kinda forum.
  25. Still thinking on the plot bunny farm too. The plot bunny thread being in this forum? not open to all.
