What I do to help combat the tendency, is to randomly choose some personality traits for each character. So, I’ve got a file with a comprehensive list of various traits, and let the computer randomly grab from it. Ditto for hobbies, allergies, and phobias; that’ll help shape the characters. In the end, though, there will always be a bit of you in the character, but hopefully, they’ll all be distinctive enough that an audience can’t tell that it started out as an orgy in your head.

My muse isn’t cooperating with Jefferey so not updating that. Instead, it decided it wanted some Harry Potter, so I’m actually working on the story I put into hiatus years ago. The smut version is….well, smutty.

I’m definitely splitting up most of the existing chapters. One of them is 107kwords, about the same as the Prisoner of Azkaban, and that’s a single “chapter”! I’ve got two other especially long ones coming in at 93k (longer than Chamber of Secrets) and 70k (just under Sorcerer’s Stone); rest are under 50k.

Thanks, was wondering a bit there … until I realized that I gave you links to 680k of my material (not counting the other fanfic’s 297k). (And that 500k story was trimmed down from around 667k or so during one of my edits/revisions, some of which I intend to restore.) [I intended my prior post to prod the OP a bit too, as sometimes “copy” can be misunderstood, so I used my example to help clarify.] -

Maybe the original poster means a story based on another fanfiction? I think that means permission, permission, permission, from that author to the AFF indicating it’s authorized. This is why I can’t bring my main two fanfics here (Harry Potter), because I didn’t ask, however, those stories have been residing nicely on that other website for the past fifteen years – they’re not copies, more of fanfic of fanfic. [It started so innocently, as a list of suggestions that I was going to naively send tothat author, added a bit of plot to see if the ideas were viable and started realizing that I liked writing; so, I posted it as a fanfic of a fanfic, to that other website; I even have an unfinished sequel to it there.] -
Exactly. I miss DA, and her reviews, wish she’d find time to come back. I do have some of those “avoid” tags on my stories… that cuts down my audience a bit.
