From Bedell (1624):

Spenser (1579): So many vnworthy quidams, which catch at the garlond which to you alone is dewe. (eccentric spellings his for a change).
And Mountagu (1641): Some individuum vagum, a certaine quidam in the Clouds. (again, spelling his and not me).

Ahh, you found the spenser ref! I looked through and found it only in a latin phrase. Thanks for this It's especially useful because they show the word can properly sit in a sentence after "this" or "these" All of Spenser's spelling is pretty eccentric. He did some fun stuff tho'
