Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that. It’s more about the impact that it has on readers. The number of times that people say “I really hope they end up together and have a happy ending” is kinda fun. So I tend to try and give people a little of what they’re after before taking it away from them. That’s part of what concerned me about prompted the original question. My story for like the last story was basically one negative turn of events after another. I sorta created an artificial happy ending. But the readers knew it was a false happiness. The main character had turned evil and was kinda “torturing” people even if they didn’t know they were being tortured. Which means I was “torturing” the audience. Or I thought I was anyway.2 points -

Well, I’ll caveat that it’s the characters I’ve grown to love that I’ll do that to. Others… toss ‘em in the woodchipper.2 points -

Yes, I have a habit of doing this too. Usually my characters are happy right before things go wrong and destroys their lives.2 points -

Yeah, if my main/major character suddenly has a very good/happy day, beware, usually my attempt to “bargain” with their impending tragic demise.2 points -

That can sound like fun. I’ve had tragic endings to stories, but not really nightmarish or having to live forever with suffering. I suppose technically my most recent story has an aspect of this, but through a multiverse perspective.2 points -
Multiple orgasms or lots of build up?

Lol, well that wasn’t necessarily where I was going but I have done that in a story I recently posted. Which was actually inspired by another story that used a device like that. It’s a D/s situation and the female dom used it on their female sub. The dildo changes speeds based on what the dom wants.1 point -

Why did my mind jump to R/C dildo being used as a torture device?1 point -

Oh I don’t know about that. There’s a fair amount of innocence, it just usually doesn’t last long on the website. Fun fact I’m currently in the process of writing about the destruction of innocence. Or some version of it anyway. Though in an ironic way.1 point -

Multiple orgasms or lots of build up?

Obviously, yes. I suppose it’s also possible to be good for M/M encounters too, though I’m not personally that interested in such things. Part of why I asked is also F/F stories. Women would know how they can give each other multiple orgasms. Which is how it became a thought for me in this topic. If you have a group of women in a F/F context would seem like the perfect opportunity for such things.1 point -

Explicit version does trample large swaths of “non-conformity” type of encounters (ie, not simply M/F). Though, ironically, did write a M/F scene this morning.1 point -

Got an alternate ending to my potter fanfic that’ll tie into one of my originals… in this same theme would be a “send-off” of sorts.1 point -

Smutty version version only, and not guaranteed there’s anybody on the receiving end of it. Sometimes it’s slipping it into somebody’s food, and next thing the person knows, Snape can’t wipe the grin from their face as it gets rather sticky beneath the workbench in Potions.1 point -

So, the next chapter of “Master Plan” is going to be a little delayed; it’s nearly ready for beta, but my beta for that story is about to go on vacation for a week. In the meantime, I expect to post the final chapter of “House Petracor” by the end of this week, and I’ll probably post the first chapter of a new original story early next week—if I can think of a title for it, that is.1 point -

Well… the nice thing with my potter story, multiple orgasms aren’t restricted to women. There’s potions & spells that can get around that limitation1 point -

Happy endings (literally or figuratively) or tragic endings?
Wilde_Guess reacted to pippychick for a topic
Yes, either via immortality or some kind of endless loop. Or it’s clear that the nightmarish quality of the ending is not static and is going to get measurably worse over time, and there’s nothing the MC can do to stop it. I, um, did that too. (sorry Abbe)1 point -
Title Help

Thanks for the input, all! Looks like I need to come up with a different title for this story. It’s an original story about the captain of a freelance salvage vessel. She has a chip implanted in her head that enables her to, among other things, make log entries by thought alone. (This means that the story is told in the first person and largely in present tense, because the captain makes most of her log entries in real time rather than in retrospect.) While she and her all-female crew are on a planet searching for a crashed ship full of valuable cargo, she falls into a goo of slime that consumes her entire body except for her central nervous system and the chip. The goo then becomes her new body, and it comes with powerful and horrific new urges. Any thoughts? I have been struggling to come up with something adequate.1 point
