Halloween 2025

Come my darlings its that time of the year.

The touch of fall tastes wind sweet on the desert air.

The Harvest precedes the frost and the scarecrows grow active in their migratory phase.

Aplenty is abound like the changes of the moon.

For wealth cannot be measured in dead metal and electric glyphs. 

Hark! The Heralds cry! To thy bounty's surplus.

Welcome to One and all and thy ambitions

   The RULES

• Keep your submission Under 50K
• Include all appropriate tags at the beginning of the story

May your roots draw deep beyond the frost

Your pursuers cramp before the butcher’s blade

The fairy rings open to hallowed halls.

The leaves begin to sing in autumnal hues.

“You Were Warned” (poem)

Sadly, I don’t think in poem style generally. Sounds  like it would be fun. I have a couple stories that could theoretically be Halloween themed (dark vampire stuff), but not in poetic form.

Also not original fiction.

Yes although they can also go down a dark path, for obvious reasons. I wrote a somewhat more upbeat vampire story that’s already on the site.

The ones I’m thinking about are probably the darkest stories I’ve written. Which isn’t necessarily my own cup of tea but I had an impulse.

You could always do a flashfic. I’m sometimes amazed by the stories some people can tell in 500 words or less.

I suppose. There is an idea which came to me recently for a fanfic. It’s not directly Halloween related but certainly could be. There’s a fantasy fulfillment aspect to the story which could involve wearing outfits. Not sure if I could finish in 500 words though.

Perhaps, although my initial feeling is that it’s not Halloween enough. My basic outline has a woman getting out of a sudden rain storm and happening upon a lone cabin with a guy inside. They ride out the storm together, both literally and figuratively. Many dark twists could be done from this.

Sounds good! People underestimate the K.I.S.S Principle.  Keep it simple silly.
