naturechild02 Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 I noticed that the manga section has been pretty dead lately. Not only are very few people writing stories but the stories don't have many hits, either. It's a bit frustrating since I started writing a new manga story in August last year. I try to update frequently but I somehow doubt it has regular readers since It has no reviews. What do you guys think? Anyone making attempts at writing some manga stories? Does anyone read or review them anymore? Quote
24CaratCoal Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Try posting in the Promote a Story section, it's a good way to catch the curiosity of new readers who might otherwise overlook it. Also don't let lack of reviews discourage you, only a fraction of people who read actually review, it's always been that way but that doesn't mean your story is any less enjoyable to those who read it. The best thing to keep in mind is the reason why you write, if you write for reviews not getting many will seemed a lot more discouraging than if you just write for your own fun. Good reviews are like a bonus, to me the enjoyment of writing itself is the real prize. I've seen decent authors who post daily, get lots of reviews and get so wound up over a critical comment they'll post entire rants about people being ungrateful. I've seen new authors post their works and gush when they get only a handful of reviews because somebody else enjoys what they do. It's all about perspective. Don't let the number of reviews bother you, write what you like because you like to write it. It's a lot more enjoyable that way, in my opinion. Quote

JayDee Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) I tried doing one, but writing from right to left killed my keyboard. Edited February 12, 2016 by JayDee Quote
PervOtaku Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 I'm less into writing manga/anime fanfic and more into writing original stories inspired by manga/anime genres. That's not quite the same, I guess? Other than for very recent series, there's probably enough fanfic on the web to last a while. I remember looking up Tenchi Muyo erotica fanfic years ago and there was a shitload available. And of course a good portion of Japanese porn doujinshi (fanfic comics) get translated and posted online. Quote
Guest Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Hi all, Here is the opinion of an actual manga fan fic writer. As was stated above, you need to promote your story in a way that people will take notice. I also add to the post when I have put up a new chapter over in AFF. I will say this in praise of AFF, I have had more views here than I have had on any other site, That includes you know who... People will read fics in any genre if you let them know about it. SirGeneralSir Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 you also have to consider what tags you have on it, the tags are just as important as anything else in the story so that people know what they are looking at. M/M M/F F/F etc is there violence, is there sex, is there a cyborg alien squirrel that sparkles like a disco ball? you need to get people's attention by not just showing that you are there, but also by what is there too.
