Testify! Same thing happens with me all the damn time, and I don't even write about kids!

Jaxxy, given the same story is linked, and similar comments made re: TOS, could the person who emailed you be the same guest posting on the forum here? looking for 'open dialogue? Also, I suspect they have mis-understood your TOS, as they don't seem to understand it is users who need to demonstrate a belief that nothing is offensive/obscene to use the service, or else not use the site?

I originally wrote these up for another forum over a couple of months, and decided it wouldn't hurt to re-post here. I figured I'd also be best keeping my requests/suggestions in one thread, as that way it's easier for people to avoid them - given the nature of the kind of thing I read/write being somewhat, uh, niche. Request #1 Marvel Comics: Marvel: Ruins Up there in the top five most depressing superhero comics ever... Bit of an old one now, too. High quality art though. Anyway, in Ruins Jean Grey had a cameo as a hooker and tried to get business from Nick Fury and Phil Sheldon. Nick Fury shot her dead instead. I would like to suggest a story where he fucks her first (Marvel MAX 'Fury is a great big whoremonger' style) and then shoots her to avoid paying. The total hopelessness of both characters in the Ruins universe would allow for good examination of the self disgust they both seemingly feel, expanded during the act to the point of murder. Plus, I find the idea of Jean Grey as a twenty dollar street whore totally hot. Request #2 Another request based on an infamous comic: DC Comics - Warrior #42 Long ago and far away, DC Comics decided that there was only room for one proper Green Lantern, the often awesome Kyle Rayner (Well, I like him!). So Guy Gardner, after a bit of dossing around, discovered he had himself alien heritage and could grow weapons out of his body. Became Warrior. You probably know that if you've read this far. Anyway, Warrior #42 was the "Gal" Gardner issue, in which Guy's then-foe Dementor - a big chunk of snot lookin' thing with tentacles - turned him into a woman. An incredibly hot woman. And had him parade around in various outfits including one panel of a maid's uniform. Now I've jogged your memory of Guy Gardner's transsexual escapade, my request: Please can somebody write a story where Dementor took a further step in his humiliation of "Gal" Gardner by raping her, forcing her to apparantly enjoy it, filming it all, and then putting the footage on the internet (or, this being early nineties, sending a copy to the Daily Planet, Galaxy Broadcasting etc?) Maybe even end it with "Gal" Gardner forced into prostitution with Dementor as an incredibly un-superfly pimp daddy? That's my request. Thank you for your time and consideration. Request #3 A somewhat more recent comic request... DC Comics - Shadowpact In one of the issues of the now finished Shadowpact, Detective Chimp was shown searching the internet for furries so he could try to get a little action, as there weren't any super intelligent female chimps around. I'd like to suggest a story where he ends up hooking up with fellow Shadowpact member Nightshade instead - maybe also a threesome with Shadowpact's occasional guest, uh, star Rex the Wonder Dog? Thanks for considering this suggestion! I recall somebody suggesting to Detective Chip back during the Day of Vengeance miniseries that Nightshade was in to him, and he shot it down because she wasn't a chimp. However, he'd only been sober a couple of days then (as I think he told Black Alice's father) and maybe wasn't thinking straight - also, the fact he was later on the internet looking for furries shows a change of heart. (...I bet Guy Gardner never needs to trawl the internet for girls. Shadowpact superheroes just don't get any respect...) If anybody wants to write one of these, please PM me when it's done so I can read it!

Yeah, but it's not really accurate to describe an episode like Spock's Brain as Classic. I for one can't do it without laughing. That's one case where TOSS is more accurate than TOS....

Out of idle curiousity, and if you can still remember, what made you choose strumpet?

I have a deck, but we pretty much leave out the Major Arcana and the Knights and play regular 52 card games with it. Keep meaning to learn some of the full deck games (e.g. Ottocento - if a version exists to correspond with my deck), just for the history behind them.

Misplaced Stories in Comics Subcategories
JayDee replied to Miranda Pixie's topic in Misplaced stories moved
Re: Marvel - I don't know of many comics fans who would use 'Marvel Family' in most contexts to refer to Marvel Comics' various Captain Marvels (Mar-Vell, Monica Rambeau et al) or Marvel Comics itself, but if there is room for confusion then the category for DC would surely be some variation on 'Shazam!' rather than 'Captain Marvel'- as this has featured in the titles of most of DC's Marvel Family comics, for Billy, Mary, Freddy and the rest. Only Marvel Comics has the right to market a comic with the title 'Captain Marvel' See here for why. As a kind of extra test of public opinion, Wikipedia deals with 'Marvel Family' as the DC comics/original Fawcett Comics versions of all the characters with no mention of Marvel Comics - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Family - and if there was room for confusion then the nerds who edit the damn thing would surely have set it as a disambiguation page by now. -
[Added extras] Originals Subdomain / Disclaimer question
JayDee replied to JayDee's topic in FAQ requests
That's great - thanks for your help! And yes, I have an additional note on all three to say they are used with prior permission. -
Hi there, Under 'Originals' I have three strories using an artist's original characters. These characters apppear in much of the creator’s non-fanart that I have seen and have no basis in any fandom or on any celebrity (They are not, for example, OCs for Harry Potter). My three stories were written and posted with the creator's permission, and the first was a direct request. On that basis, I posted them under Originals with my standard fanfiction disclaimer modified to state that "I don’t own any of Wolverine’s original characters and make no profit from this story." So my first question is - Is the Originals section correct for stories using another creator's original characters, and if not, where should they go? The reason I have this question is that When I re-read the Disclaimers FAQ before my post in the weak/missing disclaimers board, I noted that under the section for Originals disclaimers it states "Original fiction one would expect to have an author's OWN characters," and the disclaimer should say as such. My section question is: If stories using (with permission) another creator's original characters in this way are acceptable under the Originals subdomain are acceptable, can the disclaimers FAQ be added to, to confirm how you want them disclaimed? Thanks (I checked through and could not find this being covered elsewhere).

Thanks for clarifying that DemonGoddess061! I think I posted my edit above at the same time as you were posting. Internet co-incidences always get me like that

Agaib, per the article I linked: Here's another recent article on the case, again re-affirming my prior point about the lack of convictions for text only: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburgh...g/s_581761.html So as noted in the previous article, it was Karen Fletcher's Agoraphobia that led to her voluntarily pleading guility. There's no precedent under law at all. Has there been a conviction on text only in America for anything ever that wasn't overturned by the supreme court on freedom of speech grounds? Holocaust denial maybe?
-
Hi, following your allcaps note at the start that you are not taking into account "in story" disclaimers this post is simply directed at the moderator who checks them rather than yourself - In my stories linked above the disclaimer states: "I don't own any of [copyright holders]'s characters and make no profit from this story" ....and so is compliant with site requirements. However, as I prefer a longer disclaimer for clarity I put it at the top of my stories rather than in the limited text box. I also feel that as my disclaimer is right at the top it is not 'in story' as it is clearly labelled disclaimer prior to the story text. Although I do get what Miranda Pixie means by that - as I put "Full Disclaimer Below" in the green box, and add my long-form disclaimer to the start of every chapter. I also believe I queried some time back if this format was acceptable, and was told that it was. I cannot seem to find a link to this however. Edit ...and on reflection, that may have been under the old moderation team. All my fanfiction disclaimers now amended. Two disclaimers saying the same thing cannot hurt after all. Especially when, based on my firefly flames, no bugger reads them.

Your third article was indeed about Karen Fletcher, butfrom 2006. My point is that it is misleading to post articles that are two years out of date when more current details of a case or legal standing exist. Even that one you've linked there is from January this year, with just a note added more recently on the outcome of the case. The article I linked from May 2008 explains that she was to plead guilty this month only because of her agarophobia, and the article also explains that there have been no convictions on text alone, nor really any effective test case before the courts as they are still wanting one. That being the case the point of law has been not been tested, so it would not be set precedent. In other words, I see no reason not to stand by my post.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08138/882650-85.stm Seeing as one of those is from 2004, and one from 2006, the above is a more recent article on the 'Red Rose' case, since that one is from two and a half years ago. "the federal government has never won a conviction based solely on text under current obscenity law." But, yes, if they wanted to make trouble they possibly could - but again I would think that the fact that this site is so many times larger than that one, and has surely been reported many times by anti-pornography people, and still they haven't tried anything... Well, doesn't seem like cause for worry on that front.

I don't write kiddy stories, I don't read 'em (although, age of consent is 16 in my country.) However, I would find it very hard to believe that "the authorities" aren't already aware of a site as large as this one, and would assume the issues they face with successful prosecutions against fiction in the states would be why nothing has happened after years of active status. Also, statistically it's far more likely that dozens of people who don't like slash or whatever have been trying to get the place shut down with whatever claim they can for years. The fact that the webhost is able to run the site without any terms of service violation is surely evidence enough that the site is legal? S'not like you're on some hacked illegal server somewhere. They'll be complaining about the homosexuals next. It reads like a troll to me, ability to spell be damned, a "I don't like this writer so I'm going to try and have them deleted" troll. The whole "Just found it through searching" thing doesn't have to be true. Have you tried googling their email address? See if they've any record of trolling anywhere and silly enough to use the same addy all over? Also, as DarkInuLord says there's no reason that just because a story features something unpleasant the writer wants to do it. Otherwise, Stephen King would be shot on sight entering Maine.

Dammit, do you all know what this means? It means that somebody is going to have to rant about the old Lemmings games. I had it on Sega Master System and the higher levels just pissed all over me, and left me for dead. Those little green haired suicidal bastards...

Hi, this story was completed today, and is a four chapter story of 1000+ words (at a guess) excluding disclaimer etc. Please if you like the story as described below would you go and read it. JD *Assuming the negative feedback isn't just to tell me that you didn't read the codes and are not happy. I get that a lot.

Schlong? S'from Yiddish borrowed to English. Now, my favourite borrowed term from Yiddish is Zaftig, because it so perfectly describes a certain body shape without the negative connotations associated with some of the English words that might be used. [/off topic]

I'm doing my bit with the graphic cannibalism...

So far as plotting and storylines go, I've almost always preferred original to fanfiction. If I want literature or just a non-smut read I hit the library or buy a book/comic. I write smut, read smut and, basically, I'm in it for the smut. Each to their own tho'

Now there's a story code I don't have much use for
