Re-writer’s block, I guess. It needs a new start and a new ending and some more character florishes in the middle, and the first new start I wrote I’ve I don’t really like, so I’ve come up with a second one but was having issues getting it down. I figure the ol’ muses are pissed I don’t like the first idea.

But quadrille? I’ve knocked out 1000 words easy. Not my best work, but with a bit of polishing it’ll be reasonably avagerge compared to some of the dribs drabs prompt fics I’ve done!

I’m currently fighting a bit with Repopulation over a similar issue.  I’m trying to work out where to put the physical description of each character in the first chapter, which is especially hard since I get distracted every time I learn about some other cool feature of the Ark (that’s what Ken calls the Stanford Torus for fairly obvious reasons), like the chevron shields on the glass ceiling.  I swear, half of my author’s notes on this thing are just going to be “Isn’t science cool?!” followed by “Oh yeah, some character stuff and sex happened in this chapter too, I guess.”

So I definitely understand the issues with getting a proper beginning on a story, and going through several variations on it.

Heh you started out taking on a request for a good ol’ incest + guest porno, and might end up with sort of hard sci fi survival epic. Reviewer: “You’re supposed to have entangled limbs, not protons!”

I guess when the characters first appear works for broad strokes physical description if nothing else!

I got my fingers crossed ya get through your issues, sounds like it’s gonna be epic with all the effort putting into it
