  1. Did any of the pre-raphaelite lot ever paint a maelid? I can just reference the style for the drib-drab prompt, but I was sort of curious if there was one to see in that style!

      If by “apple nymphs” we’re referring to the Hesperides, I can’t seem to find anything before the Renaissance, at least not in terms of paintings.  There does appear to be an Athenian red-figure vase from the 500s B.C.

      Again, this only applies if the maelids are the same thing as the Hesperides, and not just some other apple-related thing not tied to Greek mythology.
