  1. on one end of the spectrum, we have fire drills in the middle of the night and there is always one girl that runs out of the dorm in only a towel, soaking wet and no shoes and everyone will start laughing at her, then there are moments when I come out of my room in the middle of the day and my r.a. walks out of the shower butt naked. *shudder* I'm a lesbian, but still *shudder* my cousin has 12, count that, 12 siblings (he has eight older brothers), so he knows the phenomena of guys walking into the bathroom while he's in there, so imagine he must enjoy the privacy he gets now that he's twenty five and doesn't even live in the same country as them. I don't know how you survived boot camp, I don't think I could have done that naked at all
  2. My sister and I were talking today and she mentioned that it must be great going to an all girls school because, since we're all girls, we don't care if we see each other naked or not. ... I had to relate to her this story at that point. This actually happened on Easter weekend when I went home. My cousin (Yuki) and two of his older brothers were staying with us. Upstairs, its just the bathroom, my room, a spare room with the tv, and what used to be my sister's room and these are all very close to each other. I was in the spare room playing silent hill 4, minding my own business, and my cousin was in the shower when one of his brother's came upstairs and went into the bathroom and I heard this conversation: Yuki: Hey, I'm taking a shower here, get the fuck out! Brother: We're both boys, what difference does it make? Yuki: My dick is not your dick and your dick is not my dick! Our dicks are total seperate entities from each other! Therefore, it's not the same, not even close! So get the fuck out!! lol Suffice to say, I won the argument with my sister, cause I don't care if it's another girl, I still don't want to see some bare ass chick flying down my dorm.
  3. in these forums is a category for those looking for a beta. You can either send in your application or look at betas who are advertising their services. Just don't get your hopes up, I've been looking for a beta there since I first came to this site, but no biters so far. Good luck!
  4. yet another 'has this ever happened to you' topic. I was writing solstice today and when I went back to my room to type it up, I noticed a little mistake I made. Ok, so it's not really a mistake so much as something that I over looked. Anyway, Inigo's family is experiencing a black out. His mother wakes up and notices that the power is on and notes that it is 3:02 in the moring. She goes into her son's room to find that he has been startled by his radio. Since the power just came back on, his radio turned on on max and he scared him. She tells him that when the power goes off, then comes back on, clocks reset. When I typed this scene up, I realized that the mother's clock should have been blinking 12:00, not a steady 3:02 since the power came back on and she did not fix the time on the clock. I slapped myself in the head for this blunder and thought that I would have to find some sort of crappy, half assed explanation for it (since the 3:02 thing is very significant to the story and I couldn't take it out) when I suddenly realized what a blessing this mistake was. Since Solstice is a horror story, I could use this sort of subtle, off moment to build up creepiness. yes, the clock is weird, but it works into the plot quite well if you've read the first chapter. So, this mistake was actually great, cause I wouldn't have thought to do that and subtle creepiness is a major theme in the story. This, of course, leads me to another topic. Has anyone put in a major theme in their story, but since it's supposed to be subtle, worry that their readers don't get it? For example, I've put in 3:02 AM in a bunch of creepy places to point out that none of these things are coincidences, but I'm worried that no one is noticing that these bad things are all happening at the same time of the day or that they notice it, but just think that it's a coincidence or that I'm too lazy to come up with another time. Trouble is, subtle creepiness is so much better than wacking a reader with a skillet with 'horror' written on it, so if no one notices it, I'm not going to change it. I mean, the scariest moments in Stephen King's IT is the little things, things so subtle that you have to read it a couple of times to get all of them, but they make the setting so... wrong and wonderfully freaky.
  5. I think that there is a huge difference between writing about children and writing about those that are underaged. I live in Massachusetts and I don't know about laws in other states or countries, but here, if you're under sixteen, you're underaged. I read and write a lot of Gundam Wing fanfiction, but the boys (if you follow the official guides) are fifteen, so if you write them from the point of where the series is, you're writing about underaged sex/relationships. This doesn't seem to bother anyone, but if you write about child sex, it's a lot different. It's interesting how we can assume that one age group is more adept at handling sex than another. I'm not talking about a child, but the supposed difference between a fifteen year old and a sixteen year old. Though, I suppose this could be expanded to children too. We assume that children are incapable of dealing with sex, but just like with teenagers, not all children are the same. My cousin Andrea is seventeen and still has problems dealing with sex, but my cousin, Yuki, and I knew all about sex when we were nine and we didn't have some sort of juvenile break down, we understood that it was an adult thing, but that it was still important for us to understand how it worked and why it wasn't a good thing for kids our age to be involved with. I'm not saying that getting a child involved with sex is a good thing because they are mature for their age, but neither is coddling them. My mom and I never talked about sex when I was growing up, hell, I'll be turning 21 this week and we still have never talked about it. She treats sex like this abnormal, disgusting thing, so when I'm around her, I can never talk about it. If it weren't for my older cousin who did have the talk with me, I'd probably be confused about it, not the mechanics, but the general attitude. It's never a good thing to give a child the impression that something like that is wrong and when you hesitate to give a child an honest answer, it makes them even more curious and makes them think that you are hiding something, or at least that was my impression of my parents when I was little. When I was ten, I was reading a book that used the word 'virgin'. When I asked my dad what that meant, he just said that it was someone who was not an adult. I went around for years thinking that that was the truth, so when I found out the real meaning, I was pretty pissed off. If I hadn't known what sex was and had read about it or seen it on tv, because of my parents' inabilities to talk to me about it, I would have been curious and tried to look it up online, which would have been a very, very bad idea. I also think that it is terrible that we have such a bad habit of lying to our kids. So, when my cousin told my mom he was never going to do that to his daughter, and she started to nag at him about it, I obviously got very angry. Yes, he's talked about sex with her. She's three, but she watches nature shows all the time, so she understands that sex is something that is required to make children, she just has no idea what is really involved. He told her that it was just something that happens when you get older, like a growthspurt, where you have urges, but just like the urge to eat a ton of ice cream late at night, it's not a good idea to do it unless you are completely ready for it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that writing about children in sexual situations and getting off on it is kind of gross, but treating kids like they're incapable of understanding or trying to wrap them up with bubble wrap until they're in their twenties is pretty irresponsible. Sorry about the rant, my mom's been screaming at my dad for the past hour and I needed to do something to block out the noise without directing her anger towards me and I can't concentrate on writing fanfiction with screaming in the background.
  6. Awhile back, I wondered why an original fiction of mine had so very little reviews. A friend responded that it was because there was only one sex scene in it and that my readers on this site would expect it to be smutty..... so, basically, all of the readers on adult-fanfiction.org are sluts? I know we're all eighteen here and there's 'adult' in the title, but I like to think that both readers and writers alike have more class than that. I like smut just as much as the next person, hell, I wrote a fifty chapter anthology based on sex alone! But, there is a time and place for everything. As so many people have been telling me lately, its your fic, not the readers, they have no right to demand anything out of you, especially since you're doing this for free.
  7. Author's really don't have any 'responsibilities', especially with fanfiction. With payable fiction, one could argue that they owe their readers because they pay for their work, but that's not true with fanfiction. Fanfiction's kind of strange that way. An author will put his/her heart out there and the only thing that they ask for is some feedback, yet we get flames and crappy reviews. If a reader likes a story, it's there responsibility to follow it. I would ask Stephen King to notify me of when he's writing a new book. It's disrespectful and egotistical. With some sites, you can just get the option for e-mail notification. However, I have a better system. If there's a fic I like, but it's a work in progress, I just save it to my favorites and check up on it every once in awhile.
  8. Actually, he got hit by a car and shattered his femur, so he still has problems walking and because of his other medication, it is a seriously bad idea for him to be on serious pain meds. I'm not really pissed at pregnant women, I'm pissed at those spots. I think that pregnant women should be allowed to use general handicapped spots, but having spots just for those women is kind of like saying that there should only be spots for people with specific problems, it takes a spot away from another handicapped person just because they don't suffer from the same thing.
  9. *waves hand frantically* ooh, ooh, me! Yeah, I posted a request for my original fiction, solstice, and nothing! I've never had a beta in my years of fanfiction, but I desperately need one for Solstice since I can't edit worth crap, but does anyone step up to help me? No! Damn, I need to go to sleep... *shuffles off*
  10. I'm in total agreement. Handicapped spots are necessary for the permanently disabled. Pregnancy is not a permanent disability. If a pregnant woman can drive, she does not need a special spot. If she needs to be driven or needs that spot, she is probably at a stage in her pregnancy where leaving the house isn't a good idea in the first place. A lot of pregnant women go around with a 'oh, poor me!' attitude which annoys me. Yes, pregnancy is tough, but it's not a disease. In my area of Massachusetts, I have never seen these spots, but a few years back, my cousin got into an accident, broke his leg, and had to live in new york for a little while. When we were bringing him back to his apartment one day, we went to go get groceries for him and decided to pick out some flowers for his boyfriend, but since he only had crutches, getting the door was going to be a problem. So, we had the plates for him and we tried to find a spot near the door. Unfortunately, there were only two spots left and they were for pregnant women. So, my cousin, who was in bad pain at that point, had to hobble an extra twenty feet just because of some woman who had decided to get pregnant in the first place. If 'pregnancy' isn't defined as a handicap, why is there a handicapped space dedicated to them? Just make your husband/boyfriend/whatever get you the stuff or guilt someone else into getting it for you if you're that desperate but don't want to walk down the long, treacherous parking lot!
  11. I like the 'update soon' stuff because I have so little self esteem that the acknowledgement that someone has read my work AND wants more of it is a wonderful thing. It spurs my to write. I'm sort of a procrastinator, getting started is hard for me, but once I do, things flow very well. For example, I have a fic I haven't update for five years, but there were suddenly a rush of 'please update' messages and I decided, why not? In three days I had wrote three more chapters because those messages kicked me in the ass. However, I am in total agreement that these do not count as reviews. You're not really reviewing unless you say why or why not you like something. I'd update even faster if you said that you like my forward movement or character development. I mean, if someone says they like my stuff, but doesn't specify and I change the plot a little, they'll suddenly change and say they don't like the fic anymore. Well, then you should say why you liked it in the first place. So, yes 'please update' is ok, just fluff the review up a bit more than that, ok?
  12. some readers of my original fiction 'Solstice' have been asking about a character of mine 'Draven'. The problem is, I don't really have any answers. I started to write Solstice for nanowrimo and he wasn't even going to exist (he's the antagonist). Really, I don't know what Draven is all about and I need a little help for some character soul searching. Name of character: Draven Santiago Race of character: Portuguese Age of character: unknown (he's a supernatural character, and he deserves some mystery, we just know that he looks young and he has a younger, forty something year old brother who is human and a human mother) Height of character: 6 4 Weight of character: Don't know, he's thin, but strong, not bulky, but not scrawny either Brief background of character: Draven is the older brother of my main character, Inigo's father. No one knows what he does for a living, but he is clearly evil. Crows follow him wherever he goes and he makes other people go insane. He is interested in Inigo because he realizes that he is not quite human either, though why this is significant will be explained later in the story. Character's position or job: we don't know. Currently he seems to be trying to find werewolves, but why will not be discovered until a little later on Strengths/Skills: Evil and insanity follows him like pus in an open wound. He can find people like a bloodhound and is unusually strong. As it will be discovered later in the story, he can control the dead. Are these skills typical of the fandom? If not, why?: It's an original fiction, but it is based in the horror genre. Draven has something to do with crows, which folklore says are connected with the dead. Weaknesses/Bad habits: Draven is arrogant about his power. He considers himself a sort of demi god and counts on people respecting and fearing him, so when someone stands up to him, he gets angry. He submits very little effort to control his power, so a lot of people are infected unnecessarily and he has delusions (but are they really delusions?) of grandeur. Distinctive features, if any: He has black eyes that reflect neither images nor light, no smell, and a flat voice that has no accent. At touch, he instills a strange terror and when Inigo touches his hand for the first time, he cannot breathe. Draven is very tall with pale skin, which is startling because he was born in Brazil. Are these features unique in the fandom? If so, why?: Because of Draven's connection to crows, I chose him to have black hair and eyes. I wanted to show that he is unique by not having anything in common with his darker skinned, brown haired relatives. I also wanted to show that there is something unsettling about him, hence his non reflective eyes. There is something clearly wrong with that, but it is not clear. Connections to canon characters (if any): It's an original fiction How does your character get on with those around him/her?: He is a seperate entity. He seems to control his brother and mother, or at least they look up to him enough that they would never go against him. He treats Inigo like a very important tool and he hates Inigo's mother, because though she is afraid of him, she will do anything to protect her child and does not trust Draven. Draven seems to have total contempt for humans and views them as weak playthings. What does the other characters think of your character when they met her/him?: Inigo is terrified and sickened by him, though he doesn't know why. When people are around him, they eventually go insane, though werewolves and other creatures are more immune to it than humans. Inigo notices that when he looks into Draven's eyes, it feels like he is dying and that his insides are trying to crawl out of him. Someone asked me what Draven is; a demon, a god, a spirit, and I really don't know, I just know he is evil and that my cousin refers to him as 'H.P. Lovecraft's evil twin.' While he is evil, it is more a classic evil than a comic book evil. He isn't evil just because he can be, he does have a reason, and he isn't about to be telling the heroes his plans and give them time to escape. He's more of the type to sneak up behind you and slit your throat than gloat about victory, he has more important things to do.
  13. Thou shalt read the warnings before the fic If a fic says 'incest' or 'rape' and you are against such things, save the author some time and don't read it. Don't be surprised if something like that happens because you didn't have the time to read the content matter. There is nothing more annoying than being attacked because of subject matter when it was stated in the warnings. The same thing goes for if the fic is labelled 'complete' or 'one shot'. If a fic is done, don't ask for more, the author finished it that way for a reason.
  14. Have you ever wanted to change your story just to make someone else happy? I have a reviewer that's been very faithful towards Solstice, but his/her last review stated that she loved a certain character and she made a few other predictions. I'm the type of person that I have to make the people I don't hate happy, so when she/he said that, I felt really bad, because I've had the plot fleshed out for a long time now and I don't have the heart to tell them that this favorite character is going to die and all those predictions are going to happen in much darker ways than they think. While, at the same time I feel bad about hurting the characters she's grow to like, I also realize that the plot I set out is necessary for the story and I'm just torn.
  15. that whole 'only good' policy people have is pretty detrimental to authors. That is not to say that I would welcome blatant bashing, flaming, or non constructive negative attitudes, but I'm working on a novel right now and all I've been getting are people saying 'please update' and how good my writing is. This is wonderful, and such reviews spur me to not give up, but I would also love reviews that tell me how to improve my work. I just read through what I've written and there's a few spelling mistakes and grammar issues and, to me anyway, some areas in the work seem rushed, but no one's said anything about this! How can I write a novel when no one is telling me exactly what is good or bad? *mutters* 'course a beta would be helpful, but no one seems to be willing to take up the challenge.
  16. I must admit, I have never played silent Hill until a couple weeks ago, but I've been addicted to it for over a year. I'd heard about it from friends who's friends own the game (because my friends are too chicken shit to play horror survival games) and my cousin, who is a fanatic for anything horror. So, when Silent Hill the movie came out, I naturally went to see it despite the fact it was my first real journey into Silent Hill. I loved the movie despite everyone else's hatred of it (now that I have played two of the games, I see why, but at the time I was naiive). I searched far and wide for the music and fell in love even more with it, cause, let's face it, for fans of the dark, Silent Hill music is incredible. So, when I got a playstation 2 for x-mas this year, I naturally asked for a Silent Hill game and SH2. It was everything I thought it was... I'm a huge H.P. Lovecraft/Stephen King fan, so a game like that makes a huge impression. And yes, I now hate the movie. Anyway, yesterday I got Silent Hill 4 for an early Easter gift, but I came back to school today where I have no tv, and therefore no playstation, and I am going through serious withdrawal. It started with the fact that I've been listening to 'I Want Love' and 'Magdalene' all day and complicated by this: before I went on spring break this week, I was given a writing assignment for my flash fiction class in which I had to write a story via a letter (fic is here: http://original.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600096559 ) and when I was brainstorming, 'Room of Angel' kept cycling through my head until I gave up and let the Silent Hill muse take me. But, since I have the class on Tuesday, today i proof read it and my need to play the damn game has grown to pure irritation. Many fans of the games says that Silent Hill 4 is the worst one, but I disagree. I like it better than SH2. The graphics are better and I like the story and characters better. SH2 reminds me of a M.Night movie while SH4 is definitely more Lovecraftian. SH2 is so sensational, a man goes looking for his dead wife who apparently wrote him a letter AFTER she died. Nothing is what it seems, ect. SH4 is all about a guy who gets stuck in his apartment and finds a portal to other creepy ass world in his bathroom. Don't know why, but that plot line freaks me out a lot more, maybe because he has no connection to silent hill and, unlike with SH2, the main character actually cares about what's happening to him while with SH2, the main character just wants to find his wife and screw everything else. That and SH4 has my two favorite songs: Room of Angel and Your Rain. So, I'm just going to stop listening to other people. I have no idea what I'm going to do about my addiction. Sigh. Maybe I'll just read Rats in the Walls by H.P. Lovecraft and hope it subsides in the morning. (for creepy ass videos, look up 'room of angel silent hill' on youtube. )
  17. lol. I get that all the time. A fic will be sitting for about a month and no one will review, but as soon as I update, about two hours later I have a bunch of people begging me to update. But I just did... I'm not a machine!
  18. After watching scar tissue a hundred times and having a 8,000+ song list, I could list hundreds of sad songs. Scar Tissue is one of those animes that you could hear the song on the radio and not be affected, but after seeing it used in the show, every time you hear it, you'll start bawling. From scar tissue, there's songs like 'moonlight shadow' 'your love song' and even 'kissing you' which is one of those songs that doesn't sound sad, but was beautifully done. Still, my overall favorite sad song will have to be 'This Love' by Angela aki. I heard someone say “If there is love, there’s peace” and one may agree with that, or not Whenever I was in pain you’d hold me closely And it was in the warmth of those arms that I felt peace But then you stopped talking to me and I closed off my heart, this love was torn apart *This time I don’t let go off my heart Because the power of belief will set love free When you helped me as a friend I imagined our future together And though I saw happiness in store for us I did’t see my own issues Though our we said our promises would be our compass we lost sight of the direction this love was going in **Instead of waiting for a miracle I want you to hold onto my hand Because the power of belief will set me free You don’t have to fear this love You don’t have to fear this love, this love *Repeat **Repeat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC8ghOpRn8o Angela Aki is my goddess There is also 'Room of angel' and 'Your Rain' from Silent Hill 4.
  19. fortunately, the yaoi gundam wing fandom isn't too strict or obsessive with their OTPs. I mean, Heero and Duo are one of the most popular couples, but I have yet to see anyone get bashed for pairing Duo up with Wufei or even Trowa. I think bashing someone for trying something new is childish and is like any other warning for fanfiction, if you see a fic that is marked with something you might not like, just don't read it, it's not that hard, that's why we have back buttons!
  20. I'm more of a visual learner. When I watch hentai in my dorm room late at night or early in the morning, I watch it with no sound and it doesn't bother me. but, take away the images, I wouldn't enjoy it at all.
  21. Zealot: one who purues someone or something warmly or heatidly with earnest and ardor and is easily carried away. Zealot can be used to describe a person who is obsessed with sex.
  22. This is my original fiction: solstice: http://original.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600095564 It's kind of big, about two hundred pages, three chapters, but the third chapter is not finished, though what has been written is posted. There's yaoi and there is a bit of gore, but it's not exactly a slasher fiction. And there's werewolves. Any review will be appreciated since I can't edit worth a damn.
  23. A long time ago, I told myself that I would never wriite scat, watersports, incest, bestiality, goro, or necrophilia. Over the past year, friends of mine had asked me to write some pwp gundam wing stories involving scat and bestiality, so I did them, cause I have this inability to say no to people. So, I guess I could write about anything as long as someone asks me to. I'm also working on a story about an incestuous relationship, though it's more a drama story than a smut story, so I've changed a lot since I was younger. I still draw the line at goro and necrophilia (unless you call zombie or vampire sex necrophilia, which I don't since they're the 'living' dead). I've also never written a het sex scene, though I think that I could since I've done guy on guy and girl on girl.
  24. What makes the world such a beautiful place is the mix of dark and light. Without death, we would not cherish life, without sickness we would not be grateful for our health. Without pain, our existence would be flat, with no comparison. To me, that would be a fate worse than death. Take away all of our problems and we will never grow, we will have no purpose. I'm not saying that rape and child abuse is a good thing, I'm saying that taking away our outlets like movies and fiction would be irresponsible and wouldn't hurt just rapists and murderers, but all of us.
