  1. First of all, the login. The login is done via the centralized location for it. Yes, there are issues with the CENTER boxes, but using the ones located at the upper right there are no problems. Sure, we could let users reply in the review boards rather than lengthy ANs and what not, but then again, I'm the one who is going THROUGH all that and fixing the data from the multiple crashes this site has suffered over the years. For my sanity, we use the forum for responses. I am the ONLY one with DB access, so you can see what I mean. I have 8.6GB of data to go through record by record, and fix where needed. I'm hoping we have a function for the actual replies once the storyboarding is rewritten. (I've asked for it, we'll see how that goes). In the meantime, the forum options works just as well. For lost passwords, with the hashing in place to prevent users from being hacked, the login retrieval is done via a password RESET. It's simple enough and there are directions in the email sent to do this. Underneath the login boxes themselves, it's clearly stated that users must me mindful of password entry being CASE sensitive. As to difficulties, many of them are directly Internet Explorer related. That particular browser creates issues not just here, but at most sites. In fact, to make something like this IE compatible, the coding often BREAKS in all the other browsers. So, no, not going there. EVER. As to what the abovementioned site uses for software, eFiction has its own set of issues, including many security vulnerabilities, the inability to work with a dataset this size, and some other things I won't bore you with on a tech end. When looking to revamp all the old code here (which where it's not yet been rewritten is over ten years old and iffy) I did experiment with an import (offsite of course), and managed to crash the program rather quickly. So it's clearly NOT an option for us. Given that writing a new code base takes time, there are many functions which are planned and not yet in place. Such as clicking a link to set a story in the recommended reading, clicking an author name for the same. The big thing right now, is to make sure that the new code WORKS, which is does quite nicely. We'll add the little extras (and they are tiny in comparison to the big picture) AFTER making sure all the base code is in place and working correctly.
  2. If you're using word, and click paste from word in the rte, it'll preserve your bold, italics, all of that.

Oh, definitely. And trust me, he'll regret losing you greatly, but he brings it on himself.

      I concur! Geez ...

  4. I'm unable to duplicate the issue and can access stories from the latest listing without issue. I think you may need to clear your cache
  5. I've tried mobile browsers as well, and NONE of them have this issue either. It's ONLY Internet Explorer that behaves this way.
  6. It's definitely the skin. All it means is that there are some images files I didn't copy over.
  7. Any about the individual would be in the celeb subdomain. As to searching, you MUST search for what you want in the subdomain where the stories would be. For example: Twilight stories would be searched for in books,
  8. In the meantime, you can update your bookmarks like so: change everything that says adultfanfiction.net to adult-fanfiction.org That will bypass the age verifier unless you've not set it yet.
  9. It's still there
  10. I'm not showing "poetryqueen" as a member
  11. Prompts nascent nuance nibble Rules Happy Writing! This topic will autolock at 11:59 pm EDT 9-28
  12. If you're using Internet Explorer, you're likely getting the no box text box that's supposed to be there. Are you using XP or 7 or 8? Are you logging in using the boxes in the upper right corner?
  13. Post the details of your issues here, please. I work on them individually, one at a time, and the technical support forum is the best place to get your support requests handled in forum.
  14. YYYY-MM-DD Using mine as the example: 1961-11-16 You MUST use the dashes
  15. What's really bad about all this, is when looking at Microsoft's help sites and communities, users are told to upgrade their OS so they can use a "modern browser". Mind you, all the OTHER "modern browsers" work just FINE on XP. Developers, on the other hand, are told to pretty much break their sites for all the other browsers, so it's compatible to IE. Not happening.....
  16. Unfortunately, the problem is for versions older than IE 9. IE 9 uses hardware acceleration features which are NOT supported by XP at all. I'm going to dig a bit more, and see if I can't find a way to overcome this incompatibility issue with the browser and the rte. So far, I've not been successful. Mind you, I don't encounter these issues with ANY other browser. Only IE.
  17. First of all, FAQ requests are not tech support. I've moved the topic to the correct forum. Please be mindful of the titles of where you're posting, before you do. Secondly, if you're not seeing any form of menu, you need to logout, then BACK in, using the boxes located at the upper right corner of the browser window. There is a bug with the center boxes, to where you can only use them for registration and activation.
  18. just pointing out to you all, that canon is the spelling you need. CANNON is a weapon.
  19. Nope, the age verifier is set so that it won't be bypassed.
  20. Okay, what I did (to make it easier) is merged the old account to the new. All your old data is now linked to the new profile you created. Make sure you login with the new email, not the old, and in to the new account (MamaBear)
  21. sure thing. did that, and removed your email from the post. You're registered in the archive with your gmail account, by the way.
