You have to edit your story description/summary and add the word. In the software that we're writing, we are adding that as a field to check, so that it will show as complete as well. Currently, not an option.

I've emailed this one in the past multiple times as well. Stories gone. Again.

oh joy I'll get it after I get a nap....just got home from work
-
this is when I wish the archive had the ability to automatically put everything in an approval queue. Then none of this crap would EVER get posted
-
plus, you gotta remember to acknowledge where the lyrics fome from, like beneath the disclaimer or something.

It actually sounds like she needs to make some adjustments to her browser. IE, Firefox, or both. I run Vista on one machine, XP Pro on the other, and can't for the life of me duplicate this error. Have her check her security options for both browsers, and make sure there isn't something off there. Also, with the database repair, there are times where any ONE of you may experience a page load difficulty at random. When THAT happens, I'm running a db utility after doing a lot of work to make sure the tables are all functioning as they should. Since your friend is indicating that the background color draws, it could very well be that she's had the misfortune of trying to connect exactly when I've been running the utility. This only takes about 5 minutes tho, so would not create a consistent draw problem.

Cleanup crew is now working in the Buffy subdomain. General is complete for sort.
-
Books subdomain is complete. Two new top level categories, Anita Blake and Vampire Chronicles. We will be monitoring, and as needed, adding specific pair and other type sub subs for these top levels. 3 sub categories further categorized to the third level as they have 75 or more stories- Phantom of the Opera Peter Pan Sherlock Holmes We have found the errors, glitches and what have you for this subdomain, and they have been repaired. Also, manta2g is in the process of moving stories from this subdomain to other subdomains where they actually belong.
-
First thing I need to know is what operating system is your friend running. From what I can find this appears to be OS related. So, in order to help further, we need that information, and EXACTLY what errors occur to end up at the white screen
-
As we complete cleanup and whatnot in each subdomain, I'll be asking for people who'd be interested in being part of the Awards committee for that area. You're welcome to do that for other subdomains as well, but I figure I'll ask as we go per subdomain. It's in its infancy yet, but the general plan is to do is a semi annual awards type thing, with readers nominating fiction that they think should be earmarked, and the committee members will basically go through them according to criteria they will be setting up. If interested, please pm me here, or email me with a brief outline of what you're willing to do for this committee, as well as what you will and will not be willing to judge/read.

two sub categories are being further subcategorized as to story TYPE. So, they'll now have a third level category in each. They would be Sherlock Holmes (In Books>S through Z), and Peter Pan (In Books>M through R)

Some Obnoxious Twat
DemonGoddess replied to Harley Quinn hyenaholic's topic in Trolls/Flamers/Spammers
I know this is a bit late, but has this been fixed yet? If not, link me to the review board, and I'll kill the spam, and get the rest of the info to the archive mods. -
The software will autofill with the next number in sequence for chapters, if you do not title the chapter. You can always go back and edit it to an actual title after your initial addition ya know.

Am actually starting the category reordering now
DemonGoddess replied to DemonGoddess's topic in General
thing is, with LOTR, the bookverse has many different ages, as you are WELL aware. . movieverse stuff is all 3rd age. I figured it sure would be easier for us book geeks to be able to find stuff with it set up that way. -
There was another glitch that I just fixed running a series of queries. Unfortunately, if you have an active round robin, it made it so that only the starting author can add to the story. So, to correct this and make it so it is once again a round robin story, edit your story and check the "Allow other authors to add chapters" option, and set it to yes.

How most any posting software of this kind works, is that if you click the back button, what you typed in to the posting area will not be saved. Doesn't matter if it's forum software, writing software, or whatever. Something I'll do in the forum, for example, if making a very long post, is work it out in notepad or a wordprocessor or something, so that I don't lose everything if I should hit the back button by mistake, or something else which would mean all my post that I worked on, isn't THERE any more. So, for your for instance, what I'd do is just copy/paste it into notepad, and if you then find you have to do something like hit the back button, you STILL have what you want to post available to you. The thing to bear in mind, is that unlike mail software which will save drafts if you set it up that way, most software such as this works where the data you input is to be posted to a field in the database in a table. That's why when you hit the back button, it all goes away. If you post without filling in the chapter title field, it's not a big deal to begin with. It will default to the next number sequence for chapters for your particular story. Then, you can always go back and edit the chapter and change the title later if need be.

I don't like this sort of thing either, personally. However, not my call to delete or not delete. ugh.

I don't think I've raged so hard in a long time.
DemonGoddess replied to DarkInuLord's topic in General
You might want want to keep this particular category in mind.... General [Fics: 2164] Look at it this way. Once we finished sorting the General section in the Buffy subdomain (which started at 2600 stories there), the General category now contains 53 stories. You'd be surprised how many people don't know how to move their stories around within a subdomain. Particularly after a sub category (or sub sub category) has been created for where their story actually belongs. So, in the meantime, wading is your option. yuck. In the other meantime, I wish I COULD write creatively. I'd help ya guys in making more NOT Kagome stories. Blech.
