@CloverReef Yes, it is good they announced their intentions to leave. No, I wasn’t deaf to their tone, just elected to ignore it and try to figure out the why-they-come-to-jesus sort of moment, kinda because its the sort of reasoning that might fit into my story lines, as my stories tend to portray the bigotry and closed mindedness that can be associated with religion. @BronxWench I may not like their tone/message, but free speech, IMO, includes the right to insult the entire website as they rage quit. And, I do find some intrigue because it’s the right sort of self-righteous tone I need for some of the characters in my stories. @JayDee I’ll divide your comment by zero, happy now? @pippychick When the lines get blurred, cut back on the drinking and/or take a break. BTW, I did see the original post nearly immediately, I had elected to sleep on it, because I knew a fast reply would’ve not been a side I like to show. (I take a similar approach with concrit because my gut reaction is to get defensive, so I wait until it’s not.)

Could be something they did, or, they found religion, or it could be a legally pressured sort of thing. @BronxWench Yep, we’re all adults here, and from the literary perspective, I’d say that bartender would make for a more interesting character. And I don’t like using the word “porn” because that’s derogatory, IMO, to the works that portray that particular aspect of the human condition.

To the original poster, Having seen people just vanish, this announcement, in the least, will be around for when others come asking. Your statement is a rather broad statement, implying that people are incapable of distinguishing fiction vs reality. That you carried fiction into reality when you shouldn’t have, I do wish you learn from this, but your overall reaction seems a bit of a knee jerk. If you’re implying what I think you’re implying, that you become what you write/read, then I should be highly suspect of all Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes fans as very shady people. We all have somebody around us who’s on that end of the spectrum where even we try to be “family friendly”, they’d find our work to be irreprehensible. The only way to avoid that is to simply not write, not create, and the world would be a much duller place.

It’s how I got started writing, I was impatient for this (fifth year pre-OotP) fanfic to update (the author was starting to slow down in the typical down-spiral-of-disinterest), so I started writing my own story incorporating some of her elements into it, before writing its sequel – that’s in violation of AFF rules, so I can’t bring them here without trying to find that author fourteen years later. In looking back, the elements essentially were several character names, who the DADA instructor was, and that Mrs. Weasley was pregnant with another child. I could alter the names for those characters, Mrs. Weasley’s new child was effectively irrelevant, and Lupin isn’t terribly original to return as a DADA instructor; but its more effort than I want to spend, so I’ll leave it on FF.net. (Even got low story IDs….) Heck, if I went back and rewrote that first one, it’d lose the charm of it being my first fanfic, rough, and all.

Oh, I’ve got “dirty” versions of what I did post over there…. but, those FF.net stories violate AFF TOS, so I can’t bring them over. I could rework the two stories, remove the offending elements, but that’s time that’d take away from my original works here.
