On the bright side, chapter posted a short bit earlier on “the repair guy”.
-
Aww! Buuuut that means you get a day off to spend more time writing dirty things and playing with us. Soo… Yay?
-
I didn’t take a full day, simply left early because I wasn’t up to doing the job as I wasn’t feeling well. Don’t worry, got plenty of time off this month to work on dirty things (and research said dirty things, well, most of it, with all those … erm … “nature” documentaries)!

And in other news, lions can be homosexual too…. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5046653/Gay-lions-seen-Kenya-angers-country-s-moral-policeman.html

Read an essay about lesbian lizards. Some species that no longer had males and could still reproduce didn’t need to have sex anymore but did anyway or something.
-
Well, sex is recreational too, so what else is a lizard to do when they have nothing else to do?
-
IKR? They can only sun on rocks and eat crickets for so long!

“I don’t think I’ll ever finish that book on optimism.”
-
What’s it with me wanting to write in characters having sex at church? Certainly one way to keep the services interesting, I suppose.

Uh-oh, I’ve already broken into the halloween candy...

“Think of the children!” Of course, especially for the witches who find them a delicious snack.

Someone at my office brought it in – in plastic tubs. I have to walk past the @#$%^&*! mini-packs of peanut M&Ms as soon as I open the office door.
-
Oh my god, Marley! I both pity you and want to be you.
-
Super Gardener, able to hear plants in distress.
-
I think there was a Tales of the Unexpected that had that as the plot once. This guy could hear his neighbours rose bushes screaming as they were pruned. Eventually, he took an axe to a massive old oak tree and deafened himself or something, after trying to convince people that he could hear plants were in pain. He was trying to record it, I think.
My mother reckons it’s some old drama/ tv play for today series we have on DVD. Forgot what it’s called.

Did I read your interests properly? M/M snuffs?

Can we call tomorrow the 25th so we can start posting Halloween stories? We can go back to the 20th later.
-
And I now have a completed rough draft to my Halloween story! Yippee!

No spoilers now Naked teenagers, indian burial ground, and truth or dare. Also, I seem to be playing story tag bingo with this one.
-
Best kinda bingo, imho.
-
Story is now in LaTeX and I’m working on the revision.
-
So, the answer to avoid a multi-chapter halloween fic is to add in a well placed flashback. Seems to do the trick, summarizing the mood (with a nice bonus of not having to add in the minor1 tag).
-
That sounds like a good idea. I’m just going to write a scene with established characters so the temptation doesn’t strike me to write something longer.
-
This particular halloween fic has been tough to get started, with so many options, but not wanting to stomp over where my other stories are heading. Same universe, as always, with a nice bonus that it’ll set something up to feed into another story.
-
Oh crap… Thanks for reminding me early. I always want to do a oneshot for halloween, but only ever think about it when it’s too late. Now what the hell am I gonna write?! Gaaah…
-
-
Sigh… trying to come up with a Halloween story without creating another multi-chapter epic.

Then there’s getting the LOTR fans with “Say, did you ever read Celebrían?”
-
Ah.. you can’t get me there. One does not simply forget Celebrian.
And honestly? Given the choice between that and Legolas by Laura… ? Compared to that Celebrian was actually kind of well-written, and in some ways much easier to stomach, as it were. I know which one would make me scream first if put on constant repeat, and it’d be the one without
properuse of full stops and commas…If only Celebrian had been written withoutthe endless bucketloads of semen, unrealistic horse and warg rape, and with just a little bit more attention to the elements of psychological torture and horror elements… wait, what am I saying?!
Sorry. Yes. *dutifully falls into line*
Still wonders if it could be saved, privately.
-
Though, for a halloween fic, I’ll keep it shorter, obviously, but yeah, this has potential. (I’ve already trashed like three or four starts to it.)
-
Sigh, that feeling when its a new chapter post and it feels like nobody’s reading it….

“Rigg’s and Mortis Discount Mortuary”.
-
Finally managed to get the muse going again, so chapter 23, assuming 24/25 work out, is finished and will be posted at a later date.

Tamper-Resistant outlet: 0, Me: 1. Victory! (well, it helped to remove the stupid thing and put in a proper one.)
-
I don’t know what any of that means, but grats! Show that thing who’s boss!
-
This morning, I was almost done with replacing my kitchen microwave (over-the-range, so some minor work required), when the plug wouldn’t go into the outlet, despite having test fitted it earlier. The “tamper-resistant” part is a “safety-feature” to keep kids from putting things into it, supposed to be spring loaded to let in a plug but not a butter knife. Fortunately, I had a spare outlet laying around w/o this nuisance “feature” and replaced it. Seems to me that “child-proof” features seem designed to let the kids in and keep the adults out.

Did anybody see the eclipse (besides me?)

I saw totality, and...it’s different from partial.
-
Oh, I know, and I wish we had been able to see totality in real life, and not via the NASA feed.
-
Cameras, or at least mine, don’t have the dynamic range to do it justice. At least I did get a couple of decent pictures though.
-
Normally, I don’t put 1k miles onto the car in a day, but yesterday was a first for me.
-
DA?? DA?? Are you hiding?
You’re definitely missed around here. Hope to see you soon.

So, why does a dating website show ads to other dating websites?
-
I have no explanation, but it’s got potential as a wicked plot bunny…
-
A dating site leads to a dating site to a dating site. Some char goes so far down the rabbit hole that they end up in an alternate reality that’s just one big dating site. Like those 90s movies about video games… Brainscan? Pretty sure there was an ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark’ episode like that. Maybe even Goosebumps.
BW said plotbunny – of course, I immediately went to horror references. What, there are other kinds of stories? Psssh.
-
Maybe people who use dating websites usually sign up for more than one, so any business a site loses to the competition is made up for by ad revenue.
Or maybe nobody's paying attention at corporate HQ.

Just test drove the new battery to my hybrid on a long trip. Got 52mpg instead of the typical 40mpg!

I’ve got the 2003 honda civic… manual transmission! (It’s really fun to drive.) Since bought it used in 2006, I’m not 100% certain that it was the original battery, but most likely was.
-
Oops—I just assumed it was a Prius. I didn’t even know they made a Civic hybrid back in 2003. And I didn’t know there were ANY hybrids with a manual transmission. *”The More You Know” rainbow appears*
-
I thought the same thing when I first heard about it from the salesman. But yeah, some civic hybrids were manuals. (Not certain if any still are.) And so it’s got the advantages of a manual including being able to compression start it (ie, get it moving and pop the clutch, downhill preferred), and the security in knowing that some of the younger thieves won’t know how to operate the thing.
