  1. For Punch Line: Thank you! Honestly, the monthly prompts are way too much fun, and I'm enjoying them immensely. I'm glad I can entertain and surprise you!

  3. The policy here at AFF is for staff to refrain from redirecting users to other sites. You could, however, search the author name on other sites yourself, and see if they pop up, or even Google the author name. As I tell my own college student, research is a very useful skill in life.
  4. Just a reminder, everyone... We DO NOT permit requests for hard copies of stories that have been removed from the site, whether by the author or by staff. If a story has been removed for whatever reason, we ask that you respect those reasons. I refer you to this topic regarding the story in question.

  6. Oh, believe me, I completely understand. Some neighborhoods are wickedly underserved, and it's infuriating. Fresh food should never be a luxury, not in this town. I'm actually a native of Manhattan, but I've spent the past nineteen years in the Bronx, hence my pen name. I'm old enough to remember shopping in a dozen neighborhood stores, because each one specialized in something. There was the fish store, the butcher, the greengrocer, the Italian grocery for cheeses and canned puree or plum tomatoes, the delicatessen, the bakery for fresh made bread and rolls. Food was fresh, and good. Not only that, but all the shopkeepers knew my grandmother, and remembered my mother when she was little. Now, it's all prepackaged, full of things I refuse to even try to pronounce, and we pay insane amounts of money for it to boot. I actually caught myself lecturing firemen the other day because they were talking about buying premade pasta sauce in a jar. Ugh! It takes no time to make a fast marinara sauce from canned puree and paste, some garlic, onions, olive oil, and a few spices. Add a bit of red wine and some browned ground beef, and you have Bolognese sauce, in under half an hour, and it's healthy and tasty. Fortunately, the firemen are all very sweet and good sports about being lectured by crazy people.
  7. We do have a WIP tag for works in progress, and a COMPLETE tag for stories that are finished, but we don't go through the archive and insist that authors use them. It's the same elsewhere, as far as I've seen. The author needs to specifically denote the story as complete, so it's up to us as authors to help out readers with tags. And yes, I know that other sites have an issue with flames and review board bullies. We tend to deal with those things swiftly, so we don't quite have that issue here. Plunnies are plot bunnies. Adorable, flop-eared, little furry bundles that hop over, look at you with big eyes, and then sink their dratted fangs into your ankle and gnaw on you until you write the story they want you to write. Unfinished stories tend to make me think about endings, which tends to make plunnies bounce over and wait for me to take off my chainmail leggings.
  8. Just a couple of points here, not to step on a good rant, but... We don't encourage flame wars on the review boards here. That makes for very cranky mods, and here at AFF, we DO actively moderate. Which brings me to point two. We're not affiliated with any other site, so issues on those sites aren't something we can address, nor do we want their issues to come and play here. Now, taking off my mod hat for a moment, and speaking as an author and not-frequent-enough reader, there are so many reasons that stories get abandoned. Sometimes it's lack of direction. Sometimes it's profound writer's block. Sometimes it's real life intervening and causing an author to be unable to devote time to writing. But whatever the reason, writing is hard work, folks! Feed the writers you love with helpful reviews that let them know what works and what doesn't, and be patient if there's a delay with a normally updated story. And if a story hasn't been touched for over ten years, it's a safe bet that the author won't be updating it anytime soon. Save yourself the aggravation and click past if unfinished stories drive you crazy. Me, I just get plunnies.
  9. Keep in mind that the "Adult" in Adult-FanFiction.org doesn't have to mean sexual content. Some of us explore other adult themes beyond mere PWP. Having said that, I'm relocating this to the Challenges thread for you.

    Love or Lust

Folks, once more, with feeling: Please do not request copies of stories. If the author or staff have removed a story, we ask that you respect that decision. If you have a link to a story on another site, that's fine. We don't quibble about that here, but we do ask that hard copies of stories not be solicited or offered here.
  11. You can edit a chapter immediately after posting it, so timing isn't the issue. If you've tried editing from another PC, then a corrupted cookie string probably isn't the issue either, since it's unlikely to be present on two computers. This is an obvious question, I'm sure, but are you using the upper right corner fields to log in? The center fields only work once, at activation, and if used afterward do not log you in.
  12. My first question is what browser are you using? If it's IE, then odds are that is your issue. It defaults to quirks mode now, which is largely inexplicable, but there you have it. If you set it to IE 7 standard, IE 9 Standard, or any other version except 8 standard, you'll get the text box. I'm guessing it is, because you should see something like this: As you can see, there's a line of formatting options there which seem to be missing in your screenshots. I can say that I am able to see Chapter II when I select the story from your profile: http://manga.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600000046&chapter=2
